A-Patch for Windows Live Messenger 2012

Recommended Posts

What is the newest XP version of Windows Live Messenger? I'm currently using version 2009 Build 14.0.8089.726, and I'm wondering if they ever released a 2010 version? Since this new one for Windows Vista/7 is 2011, I feel like I missed a version. Maybe 2010 was only for Vista/7 as well? Someone shed some light on this please. Thanks!

Wow, been so long since this post I reckon there's no point even answering

I will anyway to not be (entirely) rude lol, but I was wondering this myself. I never noticed until about a month ago that there was no 2010 build. On FileHippo it shows a list of previous versions, and a 2010 beta is there, so I'm thinking maybe MS were working on this (2011) build so long they just never managed a 2010 version as well.

Luckily for you 2009 is the newest version for XP :)

thanks for the good work you've put into it ahmz :)

Dc'1 the delay was because whole GUI and thing had been changed and stuff, ahmz had to rework pretty much apatch to work with it why due the delay but he's now sorted it.

This was a fantastic way to hear about the new QFE. ;) Hopefully the Messenger team cleared up some of the obvious bugs they shipped with.

Edit: Oddly enough, I can't seem to download the new WLM build from anywhere. Every time I try a link to it I end up getting 0922 from Microsoft's servers.. :/

Edit2: NM. Microsoft's bad I guess; the files have the wrong build number but they are the QFE regardless.

I love you A-Patch but please remove that religion BS from it. Because honestly I hate people shoving religion on others in any form.

He created this (free might I add) patch, he is allowed to have whatever text displayed on install. If you dont like it, dont install this patch! Simple. I dont see any form of 'shoving' going on. Not anymore than the countless popup/ adverts you see everywhere else on the net.

Perhaps you can pay him a small fee to make a customized installer for you? Just an idea.

Peace.

QFE?

Thanks for the update, ahmz.

Why doesn't WLM auto update, or have the option to check for updates? Aresholes.

I'm just curious as to what benefit there is to disabling these 2 things?

Hate to sound like a broken record but I'm still unable to shrink the contact window down to a small enough size.

Is there something hard-coded that prevents sizing below a minimum value (287 pixels wide by 496 pixels high)? Or am I the only one bothered by this?

Appreciate the work on build 13 but this is driving me crazy.

The major benefit is that Messenger won't decide to open up a full-window photo share UI when all you really wanted to do was share a link to an image.

Doesn't work for me. I have disabled photo sharing, but dragging photos onto the chat or pasting clipboard photos still initiates photo sharing. Using 15.4.3502.922, which was just updated to that as latest. The supported version according to the site (15.4.3508.1109) seems to indicate it should work for me. Why doesn't it?

I ensured it was a clean copy and updated to the latest version that the Essentials installer will allow.

Do the other options work for you?

Yep, everything is fine. It's just the Photo sharing that doesn't seem to do anything. Can't explain it.

I just experienced an even worse event I didn't know it started with, which made me come back to this thread. I pasted a link to an image and (HORROR!) the photo sharing started even for that! Damn!

Edit: Looks like this person's having the same issue: http://apatch.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=7

Hey Ahmz!

I've been following you since Msn Messenger 8.0 times, from then you've made Msn more useful. Thanks for that, god bless you. But I'm having problems with the latest patch, about wlm 2011. I patched msn, everything works fine except Photo&Video sharing. All the ads are gone etc. but i still can't drag&drop, or c/p my pics to the reciever.

I hope you'll write soon & bring a solution with you :)

Thanks a lot.

Cankat, Istanbul.

    • In what way is any of what I said incorrect? To install an update you need to close all browser instances, upping it from once a month to once a fortnight is an inconvenience for users. Particularly when updates don't offer functionality that users want (notably copilot). Security updates should come as they are needed, not on a release schedule
