I really think that you should refer to the "lighter black" option as "grey"...

I agree that the grey is more consistent with the Blue and Ergo you've released thus far. Having said that, the black is more standard fare and will likely be more popular for the "Zomg Must Have Black On Black" clique.

But when it gets down to it... it's all good, and I'll gladly accept and download whatever you create. :)

Making the Blue version black with the "Black & White" tool in Photoshop adds a red shade to the image and it makes it to bright. Adding a color overlay to it with the correct color makes it look like this:

It looks less glossy then yours and it keeps the sharpness plus glossiness from the other styles. It's more a blue tint black then a red tint black. Your version also uses beige for the inner parts which doesn't look nice with black at all. The original version will also have new colors for the toolbar buttons, state buttons, checkboxes etc.

Oh and btw.. this is the only teaser you guys get Watercolor Emico: Black :p I didn't want to post any teaser but StarLion gave me no choice ;)

Ooooo thank you so much for the black teaser, I was really wondering how dark you were going to go, and this is the perfect shade. Really looking forward to it.

I think that a slight blue tint produces a more true sense of black to the human eye, than does a straight desaturation, or red. I once heard that in the '40s, the Duke of Windsor had a tuxedo made that was very dark blue, because it made the black look more true, especially compared to the men around him (who wore traditional tuxedos). So this isn't something that only applies to computer monitors. ;)

^Thanks! That's exactly what I wanted to go for with the black version. The red tint on it didn't even feel right to me and the blue tint also makes it look fresher.

@Hugh1981: Why would you refer to it as grey? The grey color style that I'm going to make is far more lighter then the black version.

The toolbar buttons in the black style will be orange. Same goes for all the other hover controls throughout the theme. Not as orange as in LE 5.1 Black though. The black style follows the color codes from the previous versions. Green and orange on the sliders, blue and orange for the buttons.

Well, just as I thought. The dark theme is way to dark IMO. It's hard to see the hover for the selected taskbar items. Also, when a window is maximized the details of the frames are hard to notice.

@-Ex!Tjen-: I don't have Windowblinds or Skinstudio so I can't even make a WB version. It's been discussed a few times in this thread. But to make a long story short: If someone wants to make a port, the port will have to be perfect. It has to look exactly like the visual style.

As for my previous post, for some reason the image has been removed from imageshack. Anyways, here's the darker black taskbar:

ok, sorry for the question. but didn't feel like reading the whole thread :)

Here's a simple little shellstyle that I put together for Ergo, since that's the version I'm using right now. :3 I think it's still a little dark, but I'm working on that. It's just a strip across the top of the window, but it looks pretty good with something like FindeXer or the Folders bar open.

I'll work on the colour, and on versions to match the other releases as well.

    • The very fact that a TPM (v2.0 specifically which is part of the issue I suspect) is now a baseline for any supported Windows installation will naturally mean other vendors will start to leverage it as they know it'll be there. It's called progress, and it's always been the way. A TPM isn't a windows thing, it's just a module designed to securely store keys. Secure boot isn't a Windows thing (although MS are the TCA as I recall hence the upheaval this year as the 2011 certs expire), it's just a way to verify a bootloader is signed. Windows simply leverages them.
    • It's a local account with the ability to reset a password at a very base level. I really don't get the issue that gets whipped up around it But you do you
