IMO you should make it match the right side of the captionbar. Right now the colors are looking a bit out of place. The shellstyle should also use Tahoma as the main font.

Besides all that the shellstyles looks nice. It covers up the bug that's causing the use of shellstyles as well.

Took your suggestions, and made a revised version. The bar is the same colour as the right end of the title bar, where the caption buttons are, and changed the fonts to Tahoma. I tried it out with the font size at 8px, but it just didn't look right so I changed it back to 7.

Any other suggestions? Once I get this one down, I'll make one for Blue, and then for the other colours when you release them. [And of course, with your permission, I'll release them, or give them to you for release with the styles.]

Personally, I think one of the best parts of using these, is that the styles actually show up in the Appearance window, instead of having to fish them out of the windows\Resources\Themes folder every time. :p

Could you show me a preview of the shellstyles with Tahoma set to 8px without the font being bold?

Also, it would be easier for you if you made the shellstyle for Blue first. When that version is done I could give you a PSD file with the other colors. It's easier to change the image with a color overlay instead of opening a few files for copy/pasting :p

You're right, the other font settings look better. With Tahoma 8px regular it looks to.. regular :p Thought it looks to be more centered then 7px.

Which app are you using for the shadows behind the window? Probably done with Styler isn't it?

It might be Y'z Shadow (no setup needed)

I've got an idea for it. I'll make a quick mockup :)

Edit:

Nevermind that, It didn't turn out as nice as I thought it would :p I'll be updating all the styles with a new toolbar so that the toolbars wont look weird while using a shellstyle.

@Yggdrasilly: Could you maybe make one based on the scrollbars? Since that's the design for that kind of controls that I'm using inside the frame. Then we can decide which one looks the best.

I mean, it really looks nice but I'm having second thoughts about using the captionbar inside the frame.

Edit:

Nevermind 1st part. I forgot it is just a separate shellstyle :p I'm going to make a left shellstyle to go with the theme as an add-on.

Once the themes are all finished, and I finish the shellstyles, I'll make a screenshot/mockup thing and [hopefully] get permission to release them for this.

@Capric0rn: I actually tried to make it look like the caption bar, what with the little squares and colour transition, but it doesn't look right. It stretches to the size of the window and distorts the squares. :/ I think the solid colours look good, though. I'll play around with them anyway and see if I can't find something else interesting to do with them. :D

^I don't really like the way the blocks are screwed up. The caption buttons also don't look as sharp as they should.

@Yggdrasilly: I didn't mean adding the blocks :p Because for that kind of a shellstyle it shouldn't be in there. It looks better without that part in it. I made a mockup yesterday where the bar would go from the light blue to the darker blue but that didn't look so nice.

@Everyone else: IF you decide to make a skin for an application based on Watercolor Emico you should begin with making one for Blue. If I decide to give permission for releasing it I'll give you a PSD with the other color overlays in it. It's easier that way to make skins for the other color styles.

Ah alright :p Well if someone would make that kind of a Winamp skin for Watercolor Emico then I think it would be better to base it on the small frames.

Here's a mockup that I made while I was bored with working on Watercolor Emico: Black:

Note that it's just a mockup and that I'm not thinking about using it for my Winamp skin.

Oh.. and another thing. Watercolor Emico: Black is done and will be sent out to the testers later today. A release can be expected tomorrow. Maybe even today if I'm in a good mood :p

LE 7 will be for Windows XP only. I wouldn't count on any info about LE 7 because em3 is very busy with work. This thread is not about LE though, so could we not discuss that here? :)

Watercolor Emico: Black has been sent out to the beta testers. Now let's catch some bugs if there are any :p

\me asks what Capric0rn needs to be in a good mood!! :p

    • Linux 7.1 stable launch looms as Linus Torvalds releases the final release candidate by Paul Hill Linus Torvalds has just released what’s expected to be the final release candidate of Linux 7.1, rc7. The Linux founder said that this RC is not small, but smaller than recent releases, which is a good sign because he expects the stable version to drop next week if things continue on this trajectory. Linux kernels see a merge window for the first two weeks of their life, where developers add new features, then there are about seven or eight weeks of release candidates before the stable version. Typically, there are seven release candidates, but if more time is needed, then an eighth release candidate is released too. This week’s RC’s biggest area of fixes was for GPUs, with networking just behind. Torvalds said that the rest of the release was “pretty random and spread out” with some architecture fixes, driver fixes, filesystem improvements, and build fixes for more unusual configs. In terms of specific pieces of hardware receiving improvements in this update, we had more AMD Zen6 models supported and fixes for AMD SDMA 7.1 and GFX11. Hardware that got improvements includes Lenovo laptops, HONOR laptops, and MSI laptops. Here are the changelogs for those: ASoC: amd: acp: Add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 15ASH11 Input: atkbd - add DMI quirk for Lenovo Yoga Air 14 (83QK) Input: atkbd - skip deactivate for HONOR BCC-N's internal keyboard ASoC: amd: yc: Add MSI Raider A18 HX A9WJG to quirk table ASoC: amd: yc: Enable internal mic on MSI Bravo 17 C7VF When the stable Linux 7.1 is released, it will be up to distribution maintainers, such as Canonical and Red Hat, to release the update to their users via the update manager. Some versions of Linux will get it before others, and some will never get it at all. Fedora and Arch-based distros will be among the first to get it, though. If you don’t get it, the security fixes will be backported to your system’s kernel, so you won’t be at risk, but you won’t get newer hardware support, which is fine if your computer works now.
