Turkey coach Fatih Terim has revealed he will probably step down after seeing his side lose to Germany in their Euro 2008 semi-final.

Philip Lahm's last-minute strike finally ended Turkey's dreams of going all way in Austria and Switzerland after thrilling semi-final clash in Basel.

Turkey could count themselves unfortunate to lose to Germany after dominating for most of the game only for Lahm to break their hearts.

Terim says he has decided to return to club management and that he will work outside Turkey.

"Most probably after speaking to the federation president and the players I will choose to say this is what I have done," said Terim.

"I had declared earlier I would not be working in Turkey. I am a man who keeps my promises. So I will most probably go back to a European country."

Proud

Terim was proud of his players after going so close to reaching the final.

"I congratulate Germany for their win and wish them success for final but I am proud of my players and think their will to play well, and the technical support, all came together and they were able to show the world what a good team they were," added Terim.

"I think we are leaving as the most colourful team of the tournament. We can say we were almost there, but that is part of football as well."

I'm impressed. Turkey didn't deserved to lose as they played with a lot of heart. Ah well, this is football so expect the unexpected. Tomorrow's match will be a cracker, and I'm rooting for Russia!

Scirwode

Well they were unlucky to go out, they played much better than most of us probably expected, but thats the way it goes in football, the luck has to run out eventually.

I'm hoping Spain can get past Russia tonight, and then go on to defeat the Germans in the final.

True football has just been eliminated from Euro 2008!

Thank you Turkey for adding life to a dull tournament.

You must be mad. While I will gladly agree that Turkey played some entertaining games, you can't really call their style true football. They are passionate, and energetic, but much of what won them games was just good fortune. They are far from a technical or skillful side.

Marcello Lippi is back in charge of Italy after replacing his successor Roberto Donadoni on Thursday.

Donadoni was sacked on Thursday after the Azzurri only reached the quarter-finals of Euro 2008 following a penalty shoot-out loss to Spain.

Lippi, who has been out of work since guiding Italy to World Cup glory in Germany two years ago, will be unveiled at a press conference in Rome on July 1st.

The 60-year-old possesses one of the most impressive CV's in the business having managed Serie A giants Juventus twice along with spells at the likes of Napoli and Internazionale.

"Marcello Lippi will return as coach of Italy," read a statement by Italian Football Federation (FIGC) president Giancarlo Abete on their website.

"He will replace Roberto Donadoni."

Firefox used to be that, but now it is a code bloat browser, hiding AI.
