Boy Decapitated at Six Flags Amusement Park

you need more than a fence and a sign.

you mean something like the ability to READ or comprehend what a 'Skull and Crossbones' indicate....the fault is this kids alone..unless the parents want to jump in and show some responibility...I don't think Six Flags should require 15 ft fences with razor wire.

You wertainly must be one of them - look at your maths! ;)

In fairness, the blame is his, but it doesn't "serve him right". If an area is THAT dangerous - you need more than a fence and a sign. Best to come of it is that it may serve as a lesson to others and safety will be increased.

As you're in the UK, I'll assume you've never been to a Six Flags Theme Park. Suffice it to say, as I said in an earlier post, they do do everything you'd expect and then some to counteract human stupidity such as just witnessed. There's nothing more really that they could've done. The fences are there for a reason, and when you're in an amusement park with high-speed rollercoasters, it's common sense not to jump those fences. It's pretty much a cardinal rule of being able to be in a Six Flags Park that you stay out of fenced-in areas.

Why are so many folk saing it deserves him right etc. Jeese he did something silly and in this case payed the ultimate prize, but come on like no one here did stupid stunts and pushed the boat out a bit when you were a kid.

This is a simple case of bad luck and bad timing. Poor kid, hope his Mum and Dad are okay.

It's sad yes, but if the kid went there to grab someones leg, then what on earth did he think was the best possible outcome from that. The fact that to get there he had to climb two 6" fences should remove the park from any real blame. If the other theory is true and he went there to grab a hat that he'd lost, WTF is wrong with kids risking their lives for a stupid hat. I saw this on youtube and it seemed to go along with my question

It's an unfortunate event that would not have happened with a slight dose of common sense. However, it's no reason to say the kid deserved it. He was probably trying to spook a friend. Imagine how the family feels right now; better yet, imagine how you would feel if it happened to a friend or brother. There's no point in saying "oh he deserved it" or "he just won the Darwin award". Gosh, people are so shallow these days. :/

Thank you for the positive post Colicab. I too hope his parents are okay.

Silly is a little kid spinning around and then getting dizzy to the point of falling down, laughing all the while. This, this is just stupid, the 'kid' was 17, knew better, and deserved what he got.

People die every single day and some people die in stupid ways, people do bad things and get forgiven for it. This kid does something dumb but not hurtful in anyway and gets bashed for it? I bet none of you would stand at his funeral and repeat the brainless comments there so why even write it? If it's wrong to disrespect the dead then the same thing applies behind a computer screen.

If, as the original report said, he was trying to grab somebody's foot as they passed on the coaster, he would have been doing something that could be extremely dangerous not only to himself but whoever he might have grabbed at.

He did something stupid. It's a shame that he died, but no sympathy is warranted if it's his own fault, especially after neglecting multiple warning signs and regular ol' common sense.

I understand if people have no sympathy for him but atleast show some respect to his grieving family instead cracking jokes and puns. I don't know what all your families taught you but usually it's common courtesy not to talk that way about people who passed away.

Common courtesy? What does it matter? We're not saying it to the guy's family or friends. We're simply discussing with blatant honesty what we think about what happened. Maybe it depends on what you believe, but since I don't believe in any sort of afterlife, I know I won't be around in any form to care what people think of me or how I died.

I personally 100% agree with you. If I see a sign telling me not to go somewhere due to risk of life, and a big fence, I know to stay the hell away.

I also know that even if I did do this, not only would I 100% expect to injure myself, I'd 100% expect to injure the leg I was grabbing.

However, we live in a nanny culture. We have to protect the idiots, it seems. And if this is true, then maybe more protection is needed?

I personally hate it, I think it's pathetic. My usual rant is that all batteries say not to eat them. Screw that, if someone wants to eat them, let them eat the batteries. See how it works out.

Why should I feel sorry for somebody who ended their life (and endangered others) through amazingly stupid actions?

I feel sorry for the family, sure, but why should I have to feel sorry for him?

When somebody climbs over fences and into a lion enclosure, I don't feel sorry when an arm (or more) gets eaten.

100,000 morons - 1 = 99,000 morons.

We've still got a way to go.

Never mind, add +1 back onto that.

>.<

Edit: Wow, I fail twice in one night, This post was making fun of the maths (100,000 - 1 = 99,999), then I corrected it saying I screwed up, just to have it pointed out to me I screwed up with the edit.

    • I don’t get why if I bought the game on the last get I needed to pay $40 to upgrade to the new version in the first place and people who love the game and play a lot would have upgraded already so this is just PR and a chance to grab new players who forgot the game long time ago I think
    • The term "use" is doing a lot of heavy lifting in that headline. "Use" can mean opening ChatGPT occasionally to ask for the definition of a word or information about a specific topic. If you frame the question around how many people use it as a daily driver in their work or personal lives, that number is a lot smaller. Those are the people who pay for AI. Nearly everyone else is happy to use it for free, but doesn't see enough value in it to pay for it.
    • No support for Windows Hello!
    • I think you meant the "ntfs3" driver, but yes there have been a lot of fixes for it in this release and previous releases, not 100% sure if the issue you mentioned is fixed though. In any case, the new "ntfs" driver in 7.1 doesn't have that issue (at least, no reports of such have come thru), but your kernel needs to explicitly enable support for the new driver first (like how CachyOS kernel has it), and you need to edit your mount points in /etc/fstab to use "ntfs" instead of the other drivers.
    • Epic Games says Unreal Engine 6 will help developers "build content faster" using AI models by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe Epic Games is rolling out the latest major update to Unreal Engine 5 today, and at the same time, the company also dropped some information on the next-generation version of the product, Unreal Engine 6. This was already revealed a few weeks ago alongside the new Rocket League upgrade reveal. The company says it is combining the features of Unreal Engine and Unreal Editor for Fortnite to create this new version of its popular media creation tool. On top of creating entire games, the new engine will also focus on letting developers operate large-scale live service titles more easily, whether by shipping content into their own ecosystems or into Fortnite. The use of large language models is also mentioned here, with Epic saying it will be a core part of the engine. "We see LLMs, generative AI models, and tools like Claude and Codex playing a central role in helping you build content faster while maintaining the creative control you need," adds the company. Here is the rundown of what's new about version 6 of Unreal Engine: With all these changes to the programming model, portability upgrades, and generative AI integration, Epic says the new version of the engine will "change a lot about how games are made." The company aims to ship Unreal Engine 6 into early access in late 2027, with a full release planned for 12-18 months later. Epic Games also dropped a lengthy blog post about the new Unreal Engine 5.8 update for game developers over here. The release is focused on delivering better performance, customization, and streamlined workflows for development teams. This will be the final major update for this version of the engine before Epic switches to focus fully on Unreal Engine 6's early access launch.
