Larry's just creating a Neowin clan

Well I was, just disbanded it though as it appeared not to work. I will try again later.

Also we are trying to get the server going again, so anyone who is around feel free to join.

Same as before...

Channel: English Speaking 2

Name: Neowin.net

Settings: 4 v 4 ( Due to lag and having overseas players )

Round 1: Elimination on Regular Crossroads, Day.

Round 2: Extraction w/ respawns on Large Crossroads, Night.

Well i tried finding the game so im assuming its not up.

And before anyone makes a clan, what about the details!

Are we calling the clan Neowin? do we want something fancier? "Neowin Death Angels of doom and destruction"? :p

initials? NW NWN NEO etc

What about moto? lol

are we going to be competitive or more casual aimed?

We closed down the server, so many problems it's just not worth it.

I took the liberty to create a Neowin clan. Larry had talked about doing it but he went offline, so I decided to do it.

We can change everything from colours to logo, even after creation.

Name: Neowin.net

Initials: NW

Motto: "Teamwork & Beer"

Special Forces: U.S Navy Seals

Camo: Urban Marpat

So let me know if you need an invite, think you need to be in the menus to accept. Larry tried inviting me earlier to the clan he had created before disbanding, I just got a "DirtyLarry has invited you to <Clan Name> do you accept" and all I could do is press "OK"

Nice. I am hoping to play tomorrow.

Despite its connection issues, I really am enjoying this game tremendously.

Sethos hit the nail on the head, with this game it is so much more about teamwork than anything else. Being a great player on your own only gets you so far, again teamwork being so much more important.

I can seriously see this game becoming my favorite online MP. That says alot.

Sounds good, ya can invite me. :D

Team work and beer, rofl, hopefully my mic will reappear soon, that im gonna have to wait for the game to come out and get the official one packaged in.

I agree, even with the problems im having a ball when it works.

I use to play battlefield2 a few years ago and loved finding a squad that actually plays as one and not just run around stupidly, and this game seems to be great for it.

I was playing the escort VIP mode earlier, and the whole team worked together right till the end, then on of the enemy jumped of a building and killed both the VIPs while they were under the helicopter, lol.

I've also noticed that the annoying people who run around the made with the grenade attachment for the gun and that is all they use, annoying in any game. -_-

(excuse bad writing or screwed tags and formatting as im posting from the PS3's browser using a controller)

Sent you an invite about 20 minutes ago when you were in the menus, Corris - Did you receive it? I'm offline now, so any other invite is going to wait until tomorrow.

Oh by the way, question for Larry, Drukn or MI6 - How's my Microphone quality, also compared to other players? Just want to know if there's any significant different in a USB Soundcard compared to other options.

Yeah, your microphone is crystal clear, does sound a bit muffled like it's placed in the room with you, which I can now see it is. Actually I'm surprised it's the EyeToy, the quality is superb. Sad these simple solutions and old pieces of hardware works better than most new solutions

It didnt tell me i had it, so i went to my messages and nothing was there, so i sorted by clan messages and it was hiding there lol.

So now there be two of us clan members, logo is interesting. :p

its alight, im just messing. :p

it will be nice when the rankings and such like work.

Haha :p I'm trying to find an online store where I can preorder socom with the headset but so far no joy :(

I was having a look online at the game, its going for around ?40 and no where does it mention the included headset.

But Warhawk and headset cost ?40 for the disk version so i can only assume it is included until they tell us anymore, they didnt sell a disked Warhawk without the headset till it became the Platinum/Greatest Hits versions, so i hope its true here too.

My overall impressions really aren't positive, but not completely negative either. I just don't the big appeal over this game when there are others which do everything better.

Over the course of the next month I don't see any improvements to the menu and loading then it's definitely out of the picture, and I won't be buying.

I'll be up for more games tomorrow though as I was too busy today. Would be nice if some of you actually joined the matches :p We (Michael, Larry and myself) sat for ages tonight and nobody joined for a good 15/20 minutes. Pretty bad for a game so hugely anticipated :/

Well in all fairness you are basing that experience on the fact we are trying to create a server for just Neowin members, and it appears not all that many even got into the Beta. If we were not trying to play with each other, there are literally hundreds of others of games with thousands of gamers being played by other people.

I finally got it completely downloaded late last night. I didn't get a chance to play that long but I did enjoy the experience overall. Also if you guys could invite me to the clan that would be great. My name on PSN is Labula. Also the only problems I have with the game so far is:

The menu system is really slow at the moment.

There is no scaler. Which sucks for me because my stupid tv won't hold the overscan option on.

There isn't an option, that I could find, to adjust brightness or anything.

Also I would like more spectator options. Since I was dead a lot.

I played mostly the hostage rescue gametype. I believe it is called Extraction. Basically it is pretty much like Counter-Strike for me. My friend was sitting there watching saying it was really boring, because I was dead a lot. I was kinda use to it though because I played Counter-Strike for like seven years.

Overall though I really enjoyed the game. I look forward to playing it a lot more before the end of the beta.

    • We now know when and how the Universe may truly end by Sayan Sen Image by Marek Pavlík via Pexels| Not representative A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. The research, published in the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, was conducted by Tye, Horace White Professor of Physics Emeritus at Cornell University. Using recent observations from major dark-energy surveys, Tye and his collaborators developed a cosmological model that predicts the universe could have a total lifespan of about 33 billion years. Since the universe is currently estimated to be 13.8 billion years old, the model places it near the midpoint of its existence. According to Cornell University's summary of the research, the study centers on the cosmological constant, a term introduced by Albert Einstein in his theory of general relativity. In modern cosmology, the cosmological constant is commonly used to describe the simplest form of dark energy, the unknown phenomenon believed to be driving the accelerating expansion of the universe. "For the last 20 years, people believed that the cosmological constant is positive, and the universe will expand forever," Tye said in a Cornell University news release. "The new data seem to indicate that the cosmological constant is negative, and that the universe will end in a big crunch." The study draws on data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), two major projects designed to investigate the nature of dark energy. According to Tye, recent observations suggest that dark energy may not behave exactly like a simple cosmological constant. To account for those observations, Tye and his collaborators proposed a model involving an extremely light hypothetical particle that evolves over time. In their calculations, this produces a negative cosmological constant and leads to a future collapse of the universe. The model predicts that cosmic expansion would continue for approximately another 11 billion years before reaching a maximum size, after which the universe would begin contracting and eventually collapse. Scientists have long debated how the universe might end. As explained in an article published in The Conversation by Stephen DiKerby of Michigan State University, several possibilities have been proposed. If dark energy remains constant and positive, the universe could continue expanding indefinitely, gradually becoming colder, darker and more diffuse in a scenario often called the "heat death" of the universe. Other theoretical possibilities include a Big Rip, in which cosmic expansion accelerates so dramatically that galaxies, stars and even atoms are torn apart, or a Big Crunch, in which expansion reverses and the universe collapses back into an extremely dense state. DiKerby notes that the Big Crunch idea itself is not new. What distinguishes Tye's work is that it attempts to use current observational data to estimate when such a collapse might occur and how it could unfold. Much of the universe's long-term evolution remains uncertain. According to current astrophysical understanding, stars will continue to form and die for billions of years. The Sun, for example, is about halfway through its expected lifespan. Galaxies are also expected to continue merging; the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are projected to collide several billion years from now. At the same time, the nature of dark energy remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in cosmology. While observations indicate that the universe's expansion is accelerating, scientists still do not know what is causing that acceleration. Future observations may therefore alter current predictions about the cosmos's ultimate fate. Tye emphasized that additional evidence will be needed before firm conclusions can be drawn. DESI continues to collect data, while upcoming observations from missions and observatories including Euclid, SPHEREx and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory are expected to provide more precise measurements of dark energy. "People have said before that if the cosmological constant is negative, then the universe will collapse eventually. That's not new," Tye said. "However, here the model tells you when the universe collapses and how it collapses." For now, the study presents one possible future for the cosmos rather than a settled prediction. Whether the universe ultimately ends in a Big Crunch, expands forever, or follows another path entirely remains an open question that future observations will help answer. • If you look around on Amazon, some of these are available for $9
    • I’m still using an Xbox One S, so time for an upgrade to play this but as much as I hate Sony, I think I’ll get the ps5 pro
    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.
