I was at a local Sam's Club and I saw the Canadian flag. For a moment, I was mesmerized by its beauty and I decided to capture that moment with my Canon EOS 450D (18-55mm kit lens). Click the image for a slightly larger version (700x471). :)

The top picture was taken in a place called Blackstar Canyon in Orange County, California. It's mainly known for an Indian massacre that happened there in 1831. Supposedly the canyon is haunted (see here. Check out the interactive map - it's pretty cool.) I was walking back up the slope with a friend, and thought the way the sun was setting gave off an interesting light, and would look interesting.

Editing in Lightroom still doesn't go like I want it to, but that might be because I'm not shooting in RAW (no money for more HD space/bigger CF), and my monitor is the biggest crap you can have for photo editing.
