Football: Winter Transfers 2008

I want to see Gourcuff playing for Manchester United. That boy is simply pure talent.

Check out the brilliant goal he scores yesterday.

Too bad is the property of Milan AC, and Bordeaux probably don't have the money (15 000 000€) to keep him.

West Ham have rejected an improved offer for striker Craig Bellamy from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Sky Sports News chief news reporter Bryan Swanson understands City's second bid was for ?9million.

But Hammers chief executive Scott Duxbury maintains the club do not need to sell their best players during the winter transfer window.

City boss Mark Hughes confirmed on Thursday that an initial bid for Bellamy and Hammers team-mate Scott Parker had been turned down.

The Eastlands club, backed by the financial muscle of owners the Abu Dhabi United Group, have since returned with an enhanced package for the Wales international.

But the Upton Park club are determined to retain the services of their star striker and have again rebuffed the approach from the North West.

Bellamy was on target for West Ham in their 2-2 draw at Newcastle on Saturday and is an integral member of Gianfranco Zola's plans.

Hughes has money to spend in the transfer window and has already bolstered his squad with the arrival of full-back Wayne Bridge from Chelsea.

Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz is also a confirmed target for City, but Rovers are unwilling to part with the Paraguay international.

I think we will want ?15m before talking

Wigan Athletic have secured a work permit for Colombia international striker Hugo Rodallega.

The Necaxa striker is now expected to complete his move to the JJB Stadium once he completes the formality of a medical.

Rodallega attracted Steve Bruce's interest after scoring 25 goals in 52 games for Necaxa, and six in 21 on the international stage.

Latics boss Bruce was delighted to have secured the necessary paperwork and hopes the transfer can be finalised later this week.

Gem

He told the club's official website: "This is great news. The transfer is not finalised yet and the player will not be unveiled until it is, but this was the major stumbling block.

"We are never comfortable as a club talking about transfers before they are finalised, because so much can potentially happen to delay a move.

"However, we have made an exception in this case because the news is in the public domain. Hugo has yet to undergo a medical but we are very optimistic about this going through, hopefully later this week.

"Like all our overseas transfers, we have worked very hard on this one. The club has sent delegations to South America to watch him and to discuss terms with club and player and we feel he can be a big success in England.

"He is strong and quick, with an eye for goal and if he is anything like the other South and Central American imports we have brought in to the club, we have netted another gem, that's for sure."

Great player for Wiga(Y)Y)

He was epic in FM 200:p:p

Spanish journalist Guillem Balague claimed this morning, via his website, that the Manchester United star's (C Ronaldo) agent, Jorge Mendes, has come to an agreement with Madrid president Ramon Calderon meaning that Ronaldo will move in the summer.

Earlier reports had stated that a similar agreement had been set-up with Florentino Perez, which he would exploit in order to re-gain his presidency at the Bernabeu.

However, it is instead with Calderon that a deal has been struck, allowing the Portuguese international to tell a press conference before the FIFA ceremony: "My agent does not have an agreement with Florentino P?rez."

Now, Balague has spoken to Sky Sports News, giving "access to the details of the agreement, including the financial terms," as promised within his initial claim.

The agent explained: "Ramon Calderon, I understand, has got an agreement with the player. He is going to play €12 million to Cristiano Ronaldo, €8m to Jorge Mendes, the agent, and they've got €85m - which will go up to €105m - to pay Manchester United.

"All that doesn't mean there's any agreement between the clubs. Still, I put all these things to high standing figures at Real Madrid, and they all came out with the same answer: 'We're not going to deny this, we're not going to say that it's true, but you're on the right path'."

105M?!?:oo if Madrid are crazy enf to pay it.. Man U will be stupid not to take this!!

Turning his attention to how the apparent understanding will affect Manchester United, Balague continued: "It's a verbal agreement and I think there will be a punishment though, if it doesn't get respected in the summer.

"It's up to Manchester United to accept or, as they did in the summer, not accept any kind of deal. What is strange that, if Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't want to leave Manchester United, why is his agent agreeing things with Real Madrid?

"I know Sir Alex Ferguson is going to be upset."

Asked about the legal implications, he mused: "You'd have to ask Real Madrid and UEFA. You find this constantly in football.

"Now it's a matter of convincing United with money... it won't be easily done."

Agreement in place, Los Merengues have apparently decided to scrap plans to sign Wigan Athletic's Luis Antonio Valencia in order to save funds."

In other new:

the Gunners have been strongly tipped to return with a ?13.5m offer, which would be topped up to around Zenit's ?20m valuation via certain add-ons.

Although Manchester City are rumoured to be waiting to pounce should the North London side fail to come to an agreement with the Russian club, the 27-year-old already has his mind on Emirates matterSeemingly talking about William Gallas' No.10 shirt, the playmaker is quoted as saying in the Daily Telegraph: "I would prefer my present No.10, but in the team where I hope to move it's not vacant. So I'm ready for any number they are going to offer me."

He added: "In some games last season, we [Zenit] played football which was very similar to that of Arsenal."

It remains to be seen whether or not reports of Arsenal's impending big money bid will be realistic, for the Gunners have been notoriously 'careful' in recent seasons.

He wants Arse:pl :p Thats a great sign.. a sign that can lead to us fans rejoicing..

and now.. how can transfer news this season be complete without a mention of City?

According to a report in the British tabloid The Daily Express, English Premier League rich boys, Manchester City, have sent club representatives to Milan to negotiate a deal for Kaka.

City's chief executive Gary Cook and chief operating officer Paul Aldridge have both flown to Italy to enquire about the price-tag on the Brazilian international's head.

With money no object for the Citizens' Abu Dhabi owners, it is thought that they are prepared to smash the world-record transfer fee to land the 26-year-old former world player of the year.

While the Blues are willing to wait until the summer, it is thought they would much prefer to bring the former Sao Paulo star to Eastlands this January.

Apparently, City will offer the 62-time-capped Brazilian star wages in the region of ?220,000-a-week to tempt him to make the move, and have already asked his close friend Robinho to talk-up the club.

105M?!? :o if Madrid are crazy enf to pay it.. Man U will be stupid not to take this!!

Why? For two minutes just try to get back in 2002, right after the Champions League final. If United proposed 105M to buy Zidane, do you really believe Madrid would have considere the offer? I personnaly believe they would have laugh at us. ;)

HARRY REDKNAPP was in Italy last night preparing a move for Brazilian hotshot Adriano.

The Tottenham manager flew to Inter’s San Siro stadium to watch the striker play against Genoa in the Italian Cup.

Adriano had a spot-kick saved but nodded the 75th-minute opener in a 3-1 win.

Inter boss Jose Mourinho is ready to sell the out-of-favour striker for ?15million but only to a foreign club.

Redknapp wants more firepower and is ready to pull off a dramatic coup by bringing the hell-raising Samba star to the Premier League.

Spurs have already splashed out ?15m to buy back striker Jermain Defoe from Portsmouth.

But the club has been frustrated in efforts to land another forward, with West Ham rejecting a bid of ?12m for Craig Bellamy.

Adriano, 26, missed Inter’s first training session following the winter break after returning late from holiday in Brazil.

Ex-Chelsea boss Mourinho wants Adriano out — despite him scoring 71 goals in 168 Inter games.

But Redknapp has a reputation for reviving flagging careers and believes he can breathe new life into Adriano with a fresh start in England.

The star went on loan to Brazilian side Sao Paulo last season after falling out of favour with ex-Inter boss Roberto Mancini.

If a permanent deal cannot be agreed, Adriano could sign for Tottenham on an initial loan deal.

Redknapp admits he wants to beef up his squad and 6ft 2in Adriano would complement the 5ft 7in Defoe in attack.

Alot of sites and papers are reporting this, could be a huge grab for Spurs.

Manchester City have opened talks with AC Milan over the possibility of bringing Kaka to the Premier League, Sky Sports News understands.

Sky Sports News chief news reporter Bryan Swanson has learned that City executive director Garry Cook travelled to Italy to begin preliminary discussions with officials from the Italian outfit.

The potential blockbuster transfer remains at a very early stage and no bid has been lodged, with Cook keen to test Milan's resolve to retain the services of the talented playmaker.

Club owner Silvio Berlusconi described the Brazil international as 'untransferable' earlier on Tuesday but City are yet to be put off.

City's owners the Abu Dhabi United Group proved they have the financial muscle by signing Robinho from Real Madrid in the summer in a ?32.5million deal.

And they are now keen to bring the forward's compatriot to Eastlands to give manager Mark Hughes' squad real superstar quality.

Kaka admitted to Swanson in a November interview that playing in the Premier League was an ambition he hoped to realise at some stage in his playing career.

But with City currently battling to avoid relegation to the Championship, it remains to be seen if one of the most gifted players on the planet will be prepared to make the move, regardless of the riches on offer.

I don't know what Man U will do.. but we'll soon find out Milan's reponse!! City just made a ?100M bid for Kaka!!

I can just imagine City shiekhs telling Hughes he has unlimited cash and Hughes would've smiled and said to the bosses with regards to Kaka.. "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse". and the offer is ?15M an year!!!

Manchester City have launched football's most astonishing transfer bid – a world record ?100m cash offer to Milan for Kaka, which City were highly confident last night would succeed in bringing the Brazilian to Eastlands.

A source close to the negotiations told The Independent last night that the deal was "99 per cent done" following a meeting in which City's executive chairman Garry Cook and two representatives of Sheikh Mansour al-Nahyan tabled a bid plus an offer of ?15m a season wages to entice the player. Though Milan have provided no official sense of whether Kaka is leaving, a report on the website of Mediaset, the media company owned by Milan proprietor Silvio Berlusconi, reported that the offer "would be difficult for Milan to turn down."

however.. coming back to Madrid and Man U and 105M for Ronaldo.. I think Man U didnt need Zidane at that point.. they had Giggs and Scholes and Keane played too I believe and Fergie is not stupid enf to make a 100M bid for a 30+ years old but Ronaldo is young.. and Madrid have this habit of collecting every super star on the planet.. they think that equates to success.. the fact of the matter is most of these guys join for money and have no team spirit.. so Madrid still ends up losing..

So if I were the Man U boss and such a bid came in.. I would grab it with both hands.. I can get Navas, Silva and Villa for this money!!! or maybe Benzema, Gourcuff and Pato?? Possibilities are endless..

I really hope City don't land Kaka, not because I am jealous of the cash :p but because to make a transfer that big ruins the transfer market. Gone of the days of ?20m being the highest transfer.

I on the other hand want them to get Kaka.. coz that would keep them off Arshavin.. :shifty::

An update on this:

UK tabloid The Daily Mail claims that AC Milan will accept Manchester City's €110 million offer for Brazilian superstar Kaka.

Mark Hughes, the Sky Blues boss, chose to chase to 26-year-old after the club's Arab investors handed him a short-list of January targets that also included Lionel Messi, David Villa and John Terry.

...

However, the player himself has been quoted this week as saying that he wants to remain at the San Siro for many years yet, even though he hopes to experience Premier League football at some stage in his career.

City are prepared to make Kaka the best-paid player on the planet, with reports suggesting that wages of €82 million over five years are on offer.

But while the former Sao Paulo star is uninterested in money - or so he and his agent claim, in any case - he hasn't ruled out the move entirely, according to The Sun.

We will just sell our right winger to Madrid again, just like Beckham. Then we will go out and produce the best right midfielder in the world all over again. The cycle will continue lol.

Beckham was never the best winger in the world. He was a class player, and he is still good, but nothing compare to Ronaldo. And there is no cycle like the one you talking about. The only circle that exist is we always sell a very good player to Real Madrid, and I'm so sick of it.

To a certain extent, yes. But ?100m for one player, who will be earning a reported ?500,000 a week?! I don't think anything in the past compares to those sickening figures.

Yeah no player is really worth ?100m, imagine if he turns out to be another Denilson who was once the worlds most expensive footballer and turned out to be not as good as people thought.

It will be epic lulz! And also when City are relegated, epic lulz will be had! ;))

Kaka's spokesman has confirmed that AC Milan have given permission to the player to negotiate with Manchester City.

Milan stated on Thursday for the first time that they were indeed considering City's offer - which was confirmed at ?120million (?107million).

Whilst the Italian giants consider their position they have allowed the Kaka camp to open talk over a possible move to Eastlands.

Kaka's spokesman Diogo Kotscho admitted that although a deal was not close - the Rossoneri had given them the green light to open talks.

"Milan has authorised the negotiation with Manchester City," he told Associated Press.

"The next step now is that Kaka's father will eventually talk to Manchester City.

"It's an exaggeration what they are saying in England that it's almost a done deal and it's an exaggeration that Kaka has rejected the offer."

If we sell Ronaldo it will be the right thing. We have sold Heinze, van Nistelrooy and Beckham too Real Madrid and none of them have come back to haunt us. If Fergie lets him go then I trust him.

For those saying Kaka will fail in the Premier League, I'm going to stick my neck out and say he will be absolute class.

The physique Kaka has is amazing, which is something you need if you are going to cope with the fast pace and physical nature of the English game.

Coupled with the fact he is probably one of the greatest playmakers in the planet, I just don't see how he could feel.

I have to agree with Marty on this one. Kaka has proven himself to be one of the best time and again.. Denilson is nowhere near him.. or no where near Nasri for that matter.. I can't understand how he can be the most expensive footballer if he hasn't proven himself at the highest level!? Anyways.. Kaka will be a hit.. like Robinho.. but football is a team sport and as someone of rightly pointed out.. their might be a lil bit of jealousy in his team mates if they pay him 500k a week. Will be interesting to see if they support him.. or tackle him for the ball :p
