Home Events space, Air Race leaderboards now live in Europe

homeeventsspace290109582.jpg

Sshhh, don't tell anyone, but Home has been updated in Europe. We think it's a secret though, as Sony hasn't actually told anyone, instead sneaking it out without anyone noticing. Which is a shame, because this is the sort of stuff that could persuade people that Home is actually worthwhile. The Red Bull Air Race space now features a few different aircraft that you can choose between before flying the course. There's also a leaderboard which shows the top flyers globally as well as your friends' best times.

The Events space is also now open and the PSP-3000 treasure hunt has begun. The Events space plays host to a new multiplayer minigame called Tri-Sphere and hidden around the Gallery section are six hidden numbers. If you find these numbers and input them into the website (accessible via a wall terminal inside Home) you stand the chance of winning a real PSP-3000. There's no word on when / if these these things will come to Home in the US but we'll let you know as soon as Sony tells us we stumble across it.

Home continues to evolve, albeit at a slower pace than we expected. These additions are certainly pleasing, but don't quite raise the service to the next level. Yet.

The Farcry 2 space was also added to Europe not long ago.

Yeah they all look too scrawny (just look at the trophy of Ryu on the desk and how he's meant to look) and Chun Li's outfit is too long (N) :p

No idea whats going on with Ken's hair, looks like he has a mop on his head

Well Chris/Sheva and Wesker look fine, why get sloppy with SF :o

Seriously though, they look stupid.

Ask Capcom, they made them :p

By the way, that's a statue of the RE guys, not costumes. A Chris costume can be seen in the bottom pics, or else it's a direct Chris model from RE, I can't tell.

Home has it's own model structures, it can't be modified to fit perfectly with every single character from every single game, therefore characters from games have to be adapted to fit in with the Home models, not the other way about.

Yeah the statues look fine for all of them, and from what you can see of Chris he looks fine.

Pfft, Home hitting limitations and its not even out of beta yet :p (N)

Just before anyone asks/posts a topic, downtime tomorrow

Tomorrow morning Home will be offline from 8am UK. Once it comes back online patch 1.10 will be available for download.

It's a relatively small update, but it contains some key improvements to speed things up for everyone.

The initial login speed has been improved, as has the loading speed of characters and some of the graphics.

An important update in this patch is to the system that stores item data. This should prevent items, like rewards, from being lost in the future. With this fix in place the team can then set about restoring your lost items, and we will bring you more news on that soon.

The majority of this update is made up of bug fixes and small changes and improvements. For example, here are a few fixes that were asked for recently in the forums:

* Names of Home rewards will now show when you obtain them

* Items in My Home Space should no longer vanish if you leave lamps lit when leaving.

* Single seat chairs and sofas can no longer be used by two people in certain conditions

Enjoy your time in Home and please share your experiences and thoughts with us via the forums. We really do read them.

There are more fixes in there than I mention, but I thought you'd have fun finding them yourselves

ps. People with Japanese accounts, check out their Home. It's pretty cool compared to ours!

Some more updates from the forums

Okay guys and gals - as promised, we’re going to give you a peek into what to expect in terms of content updates in the very near future. Note: We’re not releasing exact dates to the public on any of this. Don’t ask; we won’t tell. The only way to make sure you don’t miss out is to log in to PlayStation Home often.

Anyhow, coming straight for you all are:

A proverbial boatload of game spaces - including spaces for Warhawk, SOCOM, Resistance, and many, many more (we’ll announce more spaces in the coming weeks)...

Of course, you’re all aware of the EA Sports Complex. But let’s just say that is coming sooner rather than later. And it’s cooler than you imagined.

These spaces will usher in the next phase of Home. They will begin to utilize this uber-powerful platform’s true capabilities. We’re talking unlocking items in the games you play from Home (and vice versa), mini-games that take full advantage of the Sixaxis controller, game launching integration. The whole shebang!

We also have leaderboards. Huzzah!

You can also count on tons of apartments and clubhouses that boast increasingly interactive environments. These spaces are freakin’ awesome. You’re going to love ‘em.

Picture frames are coming back. We’re not giving a solid date at this time, but suffice to say you will have them very, very soon.

You’ll have more music, more regularly. And, yes, there will be all different styles (this means that all of you rockers can rejoice!)

You’ll have a bigger Theater, and it will be full of videos (and not just trailers either).

You’ll be able to customize your avatar with more gear – and this stuff is hot. Oh, and there are tons of options for the girls as well. We’re not forgetting about you.

And, to top it all off, we’re gonna be throwing tons of parties, contests, and other events in Home (including a special event to coincide with Valentine’s Day. It’s going to be a killer event). The prizes will be bigger and better than ever before. If you haven’t participated in anything we’ve done before, we’re sure you will now.

See, we weren’t lying when we said we were going to make good on our word to you all.

We appreciate your patience while we make the final tweaks to ensure that all of this is smooth as can be. And we appreciate you diehards keeping the faith while the naysayers pretended like the Beta launch was the be-all, end-all of Home. No way, no how.

I am waiting for the big trophy room, so that I can view all the nice trophies I have unlocked, and then Visit Corris and then weep myself to sleep.

Lol

I will also be happy when finding and creating games will work for most titles, that would be great.

Clarification on moderation, there was speculation before whether a suspension/ban on Home applied to all of PSN, it does.

To bring a little more clarity to an always hot topic we wanted to explain our policy on this in as straight forward a way as possible.

The best way to do that, we all felt, and we've done this in conjunction with SCEA, was via an FAQ.

Q: Who is a moderator?

A: Moderators are employees of Sony Computer Entertainment that enforce not only the PlayStation?Home End User License Agreement [EULA] but also the PlayStation?Network Terms of Service and User Agreement [PSN TOSUA] that governs your access to PlayStation?Network as a whole and your usage of the services within it.

Some moderators are visible; others are not. Some moderators interact directly with the community; others do not. To identify a moderator, look for a coloured <MOD> tag attached as a prefix to any text chat associated with their username. Avatars that do not have a coloured <MOD> tag next to their user name are not moderators.

Note: Impersonation of Sony Computer Entertainment or PlayStation? staff - moderator or otherwise - is a violation of the EULA, and may result in punitive action being taken against your accounQ: Can I volunteer to be a moderator?<A: As much as we appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time to help keep PlayStation?Home free of abuse, the answer is no. We have a large staff that is in-world at all times actively moderating. If you wish to help the PlayStation?Home Moderation team, please just use the Submit a Report feature to report any offenses that you witness within PlayStation?Home [more details beQ: How do I reach a moderator to report an offense?sA:>A: To report an offense, please use the Submit a Report feature (accessible by pressing Select while in PlayStation?Home and following the onscreen instructions). Moderators may not follow up with you to resolve conflicts or communicate the status of any actions they are undertaking in regards to your submitted report. Please refrain from contacting PlayStation?staff to check the status of a report submQ: How does the Submit a Report feature work?wA:A: Upon submitting a report, an extensive activity log generated and forwarded to the PlayStation?Home Moderation team.

This ensures that the Moderation team has all the necessary evidence to identify and take action against griefers in PlayStation?Home, as well as to identify false reports.

Note: This activity log is created when you press SELECT to access the PlayStation?Home Safe Screen (you should notice the slight pause when you press the button as it creates these files), so think of that as the camera button and make sure you are looking at what you want to report, if it?s visible, when you press the button.

The activity logs go back a few minutes so as long as you press Select and submit a report in a timely way you should be confident that you caught the abuse you wisQ: What about people who make false reports. Am I safe from them?fA:

A: Yes. The Submit a Report tool submits evidence to us and if there is no indication of misbehavior in that evidence then the reported person has no cause for concern. The person submitting false reports will quickly show up in our system and will be dealt with as this sort of activity isQ: What are the consequences for violating the EULA or the PSN TOSUA in PlayStation?Home?A:e?

A: The consequences vary depending on the transgression. The most minor punishment is a warning and a note on your PSN account that this has been issued. Temporary suspensions ranging from a few days to several months are also used and these apply to your access to PSN, not just Home.

Maximum punishment is a permanent console ban that applies to the entire PlayStation?Network. Given the severity of a punishment such as a permanent system ban, we suggest you carefully read and understand the Home EULA before entering PlayStation?Home. You obviously read the PSN TOSUA when you created your account, right?

If you need to re-read the EULA or the PSN TOSUA you may do so by going HERE.

Note: PlayStation?Home?s Moderation team and Community Management team are not available to dispute moderation policies, the EULA, or the PSN TOSUA with community members. If you wish to get further details on your account and any actions taken against it by PlayStation?Home?s Moderation team, you should contact Sony PlayStation?s ConsumQ: Does the EULA and the PSN TOSUA apply to private areas, such as Clubhouses or Apartments?hA:Apartments?

A: Yes. All areas within PlayStation?Home are subject to the EULA and the PSN TOSUA andQ: My account has been suspended. What do I do?sA:hat do I do?

A: Wait it out.

So they can moderator millions of users typing god knows how many lines of text, but can't moderate far less avatars? ;)

How is millions [1~2] using Home more than 17.5 million avatars?

But hey, I better shutup and not take the bait :p

It might be only 2 million Home users, but over the course of its lifetime there is gonna be millions/billions of text sent.

But yeah I'm just breaking your balls over the PSN avatar topic and showing you its not moderation stopping them from offering the ability to upload user pics. Maybe partly, but not entirely. Any system is open to abuse no matter what moderation you implement anyway.

Sethos and I proved that on Home 2 months ago or whatever, and neither of us were punished :p

Capcom, Konami shack up with Home in Japan

Game Watch lists Koei, Tecmo, Ubisoft, and Activision as among 24 companies putting down stakes in PlayStation 3's virtual world.

HomeDevs091_screen.jpg

If there's one overlying complaint about Sony's PlayStation Home open beta, it's the lack of options of things to actually do. Sony has no intention of leaving Home barren, however, as the PlayStation 3 maker revealed 24 developers and publishers who have signed on to create content for the service at a press conference in Japan.

As reported by Japanese-language site Game Watch, the new partners range from the obvious to the obscure. Big-name players include Activision, Konami, Capcom, Sega, and Ubisoft, as well as the previously announced Electronic Arts. However, Sony also said that smaller Japanese game makers such as Acquire, AQ Interactive, Genki, and Irem have also enlisted to create content for the service.

One of the first games to take advantage of Home will be Capcom's Resident Evil 5. As detailed by Sony Global Home Division director Junji Shoda, Capcom is creating a Resident Evil 5 lounge for Home that will integrate with the game. As players progress through the survival horror shooter, new minigames will unlock in the Resident Evil 5 area, Shoda reportedly said.

A full roster of current Home licensees is listed below.

Acquire

Activision

AQ Interactive

Atlus

Capcom

D3 Publisher

Disney Interactive

EA

Game Republic

Genki

Gungho

Hudson

Irem

Koei

Konami

Namco Bandai

Nippon Ichi

I Love Ninjas in PlayStation Home

We’ve got some big plans for PlayStation Home coming up, some of which may involve ninjas and street fighters. We thought that would grab your attention. It did for us at SCEA.

3269117131_77e3bb109e.jpg

And as we continue to expand upon existing content with PlayStation Home spaces, we’ve introduced a leaderboard for the Red Bull Air Race in the Red Bull space. We recently made the most of these new leaderboards with a contest to see who could get the highest scores. Shopaholics rejoice too, you’ll find some cool new virtual items at the mall, including ninja and pirate costumes.

As you may have heard, Capcom is set to expand its blockbuster franchises globally with Street Fighter and Resident Evil within PlayStation Home. Resident Evil 5 fans can launch straight from PlayStation Home into the game. And for the Street Fighter fans, Capcom is bringing Street Fighter IV costumes and additional themed content to PlayStation Home, much of which will be unlocked through in-game actions.

3269939866_4e85bea903.jpg

I know that is a lot to digest, but that’s not all … in the next few months, gamers will find even more clothing, furniture and events taking place throughout PlayStation Home, including the launch of the Warhawk space (complete with game launching), SOCOM space, and the recently announced Gamer’s Lounge. This will be another hang-out space for the community to mix and mingle, just like you would at a real lounge. We will also hold special events here such as developer talks and parties. Along with the spaces, you can bet you’ll find even more impromptu promotions and giveaways taking place.

And as for the ninjas …. On February 12th, sweet ninja outfits will be available for purchase at the Mall to dress your PlayStation Home avatar up in. Yeah, ninja outfits! And to celebrate their arrival, we’re holding a contest: On February 13th, we’ll be holding a contest event called “I Love Ninjas.” The first instance of the brand-new community-named Home hang-out space, the Gamer’s Lounge, to be completely filled with people in ninja costumes (or a reasonable facsimile using all-black clothing items in your inventory) that we see will win vouchers for SOCOM and Warhawk to celebrate the upcoming spaces.

What events would you like to see?

Happy to see the SF4 costumes unlocked from playing the game, and not from you buying them

This week we've updated Home Square with a multi-player game, Helicopter Hit and you'll find it on the grassy knoll near the Bowling Alley.

The WATCHMEN content is now complete with a couple of Comics to adorn your apartment together with the WATCHMEN clock. All available from the Furniture Store in the Shopping Centre.

The four unlockable Street Fighter IV shirts are already in Home and today we are adding 4 complete purchasable costumes to the Threads store. Ryu, Ken, Guile and Chun-Li are all available in 4 or 5 piece sets.

Resident Evil 5 Studio Lot comes to Home with the addition of the space from Capcom and you'll find it under their chip on the World Map.

The Space is not yet complete but we thought you would enjoy exploring this behind the scenes look at Capcoms latest.

We hope to bring you some information on what else you should expect this month quite soon.

Ted

Gonna boot it up later and check out the RE5 space.

For those that have SF4 what are the costumes that unlock from in-game, anyone know?
