According to an IT website called IT168.com, Microsoft will show a more recent build of Windows 7 at WinHEC 2008 China. From the photos taken from the exhibition hall, we find the builds will be 6951 and 6956. Although we have confirmed that they will not be the official Beta 1 build, they are very close to Beta 1. The beta 1 build will most likely be released at CES 2009.

The following are some new exciting features in Build 6954 and 6956:

Build 6954 contains a new boot screen which shows animated items (or balls) that form the Windows logo.

Taskbar is fully funtional in this build.

Zoom function available now on desktop as well as multimedia files.

Jumplists can be accessed by right-clicking on a symbol in the taskbar

A more colorful start button when mouse hovering over it

Icons next to most used applications displayed leading to jump lists

Better hardware detection

Microsoft is planning to allow OEMs to have their own customized boot screens in Windows 7.

7.2 score

damit what kind of cpu is it ? i7 ? but that will mix it out

and it look like WSC system tray is gone

The Windows Solution Center in Build 6801 has been changed into Windows Action Center

The old icon has been replaced by a flag icon

That I think is a mistake, they shouldn't let them. They'll make something completely ****ty looking. Thats just me though.

Same here. Just make it a nice uniform bootscreen, OEM's put enough crap on PC's already.

I really am annoyed by how much bloat and crap OEMs put on PCs. I hope with Windows 7, they stop putting the crap on (although I doubt any will - Toshiba and Sony are unfortunately the ones that put most on. Sony put Google Desktop on thier's )

When I get a new PC from OEM, I always format the pre-installed OS and install a clean new one.

This is why I can't trust pre-built machines anymore, so much garbage that's in your system.

But looking good so far for 7, it has really got me pumped. Although I rarely use my laptop I get all fuzzy inside about the 20% increase in battery life.

It makes so much sense to do that, but not everyone can unfortunately :(

Thank you for the new Windows 7 info btw. I can't wait! :)

There will be much more information and screenshots after the opening keynote. I'll update the thread as fast as possible.

    • draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 by Razvan Serea draw.io desktop is a downloadable security-first diagramming application that runs on Windows, MacOS and Linux. Creating diagrams in the desktop app doesn’t need an internet connection. This is useful when you are disconnected or when you must create diagrams in a highly secure environment, where data protection is of the utmost importance. When you use the draw.io desktop app, your diagrams will be stored on your local device. Because this is a stand-alone application, also designed to run offline, there are no interfaces to cloud storage platforms available. Of course, you can still store your diagrams in folders that are synchronised to your cloud storage if you wish. Easy-to-use diagram editor The draw.io apps work just like the office and drawing tools you are used to using. Drag and drop shapes from the shape libraries and drag to draw connectors between them. Drag connectors to add waypoints and set a precise shape and position, or let them reroute automatically. Double click and start typing to add a label to anything. Create tables and swimlane flows with a familiar tool. Style shapes and connectors with customisable palettes, sketch options, fonts and text formatting tools. Search for shapes, including in open-source icon libraries. Use our vast libraries of shapes and templates, organised into logical categories, to create a range of diagrams and infographics. Generate diagrams from text descriptions using our smart templates. Diagram faster with keyboard shortcuts. draw.io Desktop 30.2.6 changelog: Uses electron 42.5.0 #2452 Updates to draw.io core 30.2.6.
