Anybody else having issues with their Dell printer and the Windows 7 RC?

I can successfully install the drivers, but when a document is selected to print it does absolutely nothing. Doesn't even queue the print job.

Googled it and it seems to be a common issue with Dell printers and Windows 7. Even tried the Vista drivers and still nada. Guess it's more of a driver issue than a bug.

I have one!

The white part of the start menu goes blank once and a while... I took a screen shot of it...but I don't know how to post a pic in this tread.

The only cure is to reboot or log off and log in again!

weird eh?

Also another one....

My computer won't sleep.. if I send it to sleep it either BSOD or it won't wake up. It was fine in Vista.

To recreate.

Move your task bar to the left.

Resize it larger and smaller.

It leaves a ghost bhttps://www.neowin.net/forum/style_images/finity/folder_editor_images/rte-image-button.pngehind.

Running x850xt and q8200

To fix the bug, drag the bar to the bottom, and then back to the left. (Where I like it)

Confirmed on my computer.

A small bug, but annoying (to me, anyway), and probably has an easy fix:

Windows Media Player:

Issue: WMP's timeline does not respond to keyboard input after being clicked if the WMP window did not previously have focus.

Versions Affected:

  1. WMP 12 on Windows 7 Build 7100
  2. WMP 12 on Windows 7 Build 7068

Confirmed Working Versions:

  1. WMP 11 on Window XP SP3

Reproduction:

  1. Play some WMP media
  2. Click on the desktop or another window so that WMP loses focus
  3. Hover over the WMP window and click directly on the timeline
  4. Press and release the right arrow key
  5. Result: nothing happens

Expected Result: WMP's timeline should respond to keyboard input after it is clicked on, regardless of whether the WMP window previously had focus.

Workaround: Focus the WMP window before clicking on the timeline.

the final RC just doesnt work for me, i did a clean install twice and after it boots up, as soon as i open an application it crashes, cant access task manager or anything, just freezes. Am gonna stick to Vista for now, i hope the final SP2 comes out soon.

Crashing and freezing are different problems. If you have a specific bug, please share it. Saying "7 doesn't work" is vague and unhelpful. Computers are complicated machines, so lots of problems can occur.
win 7 RC 1 for me working perfekt not bugs speak me where you found bug........ up and good all working on 479 mb of ram...
Another useless post. Windows 7 is not perfect. It's works well and it's undoubtedly a marked improvement over XP and Vista. But as an extremely complicated operating system, it probably has thousands of little bugs and hundreds of undiscovered security holes.
I can't re-create it on my PC. Are you running ATI or NVIDIA? I'm using a GeForce 8800 and have no problems with taskbar ghosting.

Can't reproduce here either. Probably driver related and not a Win 7 bug.

A bug that peeves me is the strange and unexpected disappearance of all thumbnail previews. All of them; pictures, videos, anything that has a preview. This happens at random, and for no reason. It even happened while browsing through the Videos library, right in front of me. All previews blanked out to the generic icon as I scrolled through the folder. Weird.

Bug: I can't assign D:/ to be called C:/

this is really a moronic bug - all my shortcuts do not work as they point to D:/ as Windows7 is on D:/ but it calls the partition C:/ although it is not primary. I can assign a different drive letter to the other partition though. :/

Anyway to get past this? Extremely Annoying.

Bug2: Mute Key Works But No Light When Muted. It is supposed to enabled LED when muted to tell me that it is muted.

taskbar blur ghosting here too with 7 rc, upside and leftside. gf7300 gt, 181 and 185 drivers.

thumbnail taskbar bug too.

the c&c95 gold worked ok in vista, now gets graphics corrupted (wrong colors) every time. before it was only occasionaly.

windows update interface /process was very slow when first run.

choppy wmp12 video playing, needs more testing.

and is not a bug, but the start menu is optimized only for when taskbar is in lower part of the screen. its lower part is made lighter to blend with taskbar, but this works when in lowerside.

I get this line under my taskbar after I reboot. It only goes away after I unlock the taksbar, move it, and then move it back. Really annoying.

Here the same. But not always. maybe youre right, only after reboot. I think it's related to the taskbar blur ghosting bug?

How so. they been working on windows 7 since vista was released or a bit sooner and since oh wait it is you that JJ guy the one who thinks Pink bunnies ate your school lunch when you was 10.

So you're the one whose job is to lick MS'ass all day long.

BUG: Adobe Flash Rapes The CPU like crazy.

Never noticed this there with any Flash.

The white part of the start menu goes blank once and a while... I took a screen shot of it...but I don't know how to post a pic in this tread.

Simply upload the pic to http://imageshack.us/ and post the forum link here.

Still can't reproduce it (4870 w/ newest Catalyst drivers).

Looks like a driver bug.

I'm having a problem while playing Warcraft III and World of Warcraft. Any pop-up like WLM user online prompt or "virus database updated" promt are overlaying the game. I can see it while in game. And that area become unuseable (I have skill buttons there!! lol).

In 7000 I didn'et have this, than I upgraded to 7077 and there it is. Now I'm using RC1 with clean setup, it's there again.

Driver: 185.68 DOX

card: 8600M GT

Windows Taskbar Thumbnail bug - new (?)

I noticed this today for the first time - the taskbar preview image didn't work properly, as you can see below. Only restoring and minimising the window again fixed it.

I never had this happen in a previous build, so I guess it's new.

7100BugPreview.jpg

YESS!!! This is very annoying, that happen with Messenger conversations too!! And is just hedious!!

When a new window (conversations) pop-up, the preview is wrong

    • I wonder how many are laid off for cost savings, and this being blamed on AI to make it sound less scary and bad, for a more positive "modern, with the times" spin for investors? Because Oracle is down 14% the past year. We're looking at a company struggling here. If AI would actually be working out so well for them that they can do massive layoffs, surely this would've been reflected the past year in their stock value?
    • AI is the beginning, wait until real robots replace more jobs, specifically jobs that require physical work.
    • AI is indeed eliminating jobs, and Oracle just proved it by Hamid Ganji There’s no question that AI has become the hottest trend in workplaces, and every company is trying to adopt AI-driven solutions across its operations. While some industry leaders repeatedly say AI won’t lead to massive layoffs, recent data suggest that AI is actually one of the main reasons some companies are reducing their workforce. According to Oracle’s annual regulatory filing, the company has laid off about 21,000 employees, or 13% of its workforce, amid increasing AI adoption. “The adoption and deployment of AI technologies across our operations have resulted, and may continue to result, in reductions to our workforce,” Oracle said in the filing. The software giant now has approximately 141,000 full-time employees, a notable decrease from 162,000 during the same period last year. Restructuring expenses, including severance payments, cost Oracle $1.84 billion in fiscal 2026. Additionally, around 49,000 Oracle employees were based in the U.S., while approximately 92,000 were employed internationally. Like many other companies, Oracle has fully embraced AI and concentrated much of its efforts on the technology. The company is also a key participant in the United States’ $500 billion Stargate Project, which aims to build multiple AI data centers across the country. When it comes to AI adoption and its impact on the workforce, opinions remain divided. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, whose company has been one of the biggest beneficiaries of the AI boom, recently said in an interview that attributing job cuts to AI is a “lazy” narrative. “The narrative that connects AI to job loss, for many of the CEOs that are doing it – it is just too lazy. AI has just arrived, how is it possible they're already losing jobs?” Huang said. However, statistics and recent reports tell a different story. According to Layoffs.fyi, 196 tech companies have laid off about 119,800 employees so far this year. Reducing staff and replacing roles with AI agents could become one of the most significant trends in the job market in the years ahead.
