Aion Online

Recommended Posts

I started playing in Closed Beta 4. Loved it, then after CB6 I wanted to play something else ... while I was waiting, so I went and bought WoW. I love WoW. I don't see why there is so much hate for it ... it's very fun for me. My wife is the one playing Aion now, I'm ecstatic about that, for the fact that she doesn't even like video games ... I just wish Aion would get their server problems fixed up soon ... My wife didn't play much on the first day of OB because the server went down, but she got to level 8 last night ... again because of server issues in the US.

It is your opinion.. but... sounds like you're a child with a brand new shiny toy, you'll get bored eventually and then you'll find another game and say [New Game] > Aion.

Seriously 13 levels ... ? How's that even possible, to form an opinion in such a short time ?

that's what some said about Wow when Everquest was dominate

After playing the beta for 2 days now with my lv 13 Spiritmaster I personally like Aion more then WoW.
with out playing the end game content how can you compare WoW and Aion?

Two days in a BETA Client, you have no idea what end game feels like, or you have no idea how the end game will turn out.. and you think you like it more than wow? Most amusing..

iv played all the endgame in WoW up to the coliseum ( i quit before it came out ).

WoW isnt that special.

Endgame Aion is like the below in alot of cases

Doing an instance, Other faction is doing the same. your faction can go kick the crap out of them at the same time

just because somebody likes another game over WoW is no reason to give them crap, as its their opinion, yours is for WoW, theirs isnt

I'm not being ignorant.. but games change from Beta to Final.

Actually, I barely play WoW anymore. I haven't signed on to it in like.. six or seven days.

Hell, I have a lifetime subscription to Champions Online and I barely play it!

I'm just saying you can't know that a game is better than one other game after playing it for three days in the open beta.

Quit assuming things.

Aion has been live in Asia for over a year now. This 'beta' was nothing but a server stress test and a publicity stunt to give those with a beta key a chance to see patch 1.5. So, it's not changing. What you see right now, is what you get when the NA servers go live.

That being said...what *I* see is Gameguard...and a myriad array of problems cause by it. Hence, no matter how good the game is, I'm avoiding it until they drop that rootkit garbage. Having to reboot just to get my DVD drive working again...no thanks.

I like it better then WoW, and i think i know what I like better then you

More European open beta keys are on their way!

September 8, 2009 1:30 PM

Aion's open beta has been underway since last Sunday. While we had a few initial issues to defeat (minibosses!), the game is being honed to the point we want it to be-- the point where it plays just as sharp and smooth as an Asmodian Daeva's blade.

We are getting ready to extend invitations to even more players so that more people who have not yet preordered Aion can enjoy the rich world of Atreia in all its open beta glory.

Visit one of our following partners to have a chance of getting a beta serial code (a beta key). This new batch of beta serial codes is scheduled for distribution on Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Aion Open Beta Updates

September 8, 2009 2:08 PM

The Aion Team extends a huge thank you for the overwhelming response we have received throughout the beginning of our ongoing open beta testing. We've had a few hiccups along the way, but have managed to resolve many of them with your persistent help, reports, and sincere desire for the game to run as it should.

The main topic of discussion over the past few days has been lag, in particular on the North American servers. We believe we have resolved the issue, but we will aggressively work to continue to improve and prevent similar issues. Over the next couple of days, we will do more in-depth troubleshooting to flush out the issue. It is very important to us that the game plays as intended for everyone, and we won't rest before we reach that goal.

The second issue we are addressing is the authentication server, which from a player point of view, is the login process. We are investigating the issues with its behavior during today and this evening to search for errors in our setups and to try a few different ideas we have that will allow us to understand the player reports and improve its behavior. We will let you know ahead of time if this will impact service in anyway.

The next issue is GameGuard. We are aware that a couple of new errors have popped up since our closed beta tests. We are working on a patch that will address a couple of them. Feedback is essential as we troubleshoot these errors, as the data you give us helps us narrow problem factors down and reach solutions quicker. To give you additional information and suggested fixes that might help your GameGuard-related situation before you need to call upon a customer services representative, we have added a GameGuard information page on www.aiononline.com.

The beta forums have been a quieter than normal, in part due to irregularities with our forum authentication script. Certain upgrades that needed to be made for open beta apparently weren't completed in time, preventing both new and old accounts from logging in. The fix is now implemented. If you were able to log in prior to this update, but notice that you are suddenly unable to, make sure to update your Aion account password following these instructions. Your password update may take as long as 30 minutes before it is effective.

The final noteworthy topic relates to beta keys. Many of you have wondered why we have been so restrictive in distributing them. We know many of you have guildmates or friends who would love to give the game a try before making a further commitment. To ensure that we had time to set our servers up properly and get rid of initial connectivity issues, we throttled the key giveaways and so that we could ramp the distribution up slowly but securely. We are now at a stage where we are confident enough to open this final beta phase up to a much broader audience by giving away North American open beta keys to everyone! FilePlanet is hosting this giveaway, and you will not need to be a paying subscriber in order to get your hands on one of the keys. FilePlanet also have a number of European keys to give away, so get them while they last! Many more European websites in different languages will also be offering European keys.

Again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your continued help in the open beta test. With your help, we will flush out any remaining issues before the upcoming release of Aion!

Do any of you even remember the WoW beta?

The WoW beta had plenty, PLENTY of problems. I remember shortly after trying it I went back to FFXI...

Give games time, practice makes perfect...

Not only did WoW have PLENTY of problems it was arguably the worst MMO launch of all time being literally unplayable for the first few WEEKS. Am I the only one who remembers loot lag? 4 hour roll backs? Random disconnects? Stuck at authenticating? Shoot, although they made wow playable once end-game got to a certain point (Naxx) the game became once again unplayable (in terms of raiding) as the instance servers couldn't handle the boss fights (not just on select servers, but all. I remember having to log in at 4AM just to kill Thaddius =/.) Now im not hateing on WoW I played from day 1 through beginning Wotlk instances (quit after 40 man naxx(vanilla) came back for Tbc then quit again after clearing PvE content came back for wotlk quit again. I didn't like the directing Blizzard took in terms of raiding the game became no longer fun to me, although I would expect it became much better for the casual player.) So some BETA problems are to be EXPECTED as it is a BETA. Lets play it, have fun, report bugs, make suggestions on the official boards where they'll actually be seen / potentially implemented and save our praise / criticism for release.

Confirmed. You can get a beta key from Fileplanet without a subscription. You still have to register there at the very least, if I'm not mistaken. Get them while they're hot.

Honestly, I think with this hitting now, we're going to see a good amount more of stress being put to the servers. Hopefully, when I get on here in a second, things will still be running decently.

Already pre-ordered the CE version of the game. Having fun with it. :)

Don't use FP... Use the torrent. :p

There's a link to it on the Aion website.

The torrent was slow for me. I used Fileplanet and downloaded it at a steady 800k where with the torrent I was lucky to get 100k, and yes my torrent app is configured correctly.

    • Meta launches new AI glasses in 26 styles and Muse Spark multimodal capabilties by Pradeep Viswanathan Meta today announced a new line of Meta Glasses in partnership with EssilorLuxottica. The new AI glasses build on the company’s existing smart glasses portfolio, which is sold under the Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta brands. The new Meta Glasses start at just $299, are compatible with prescription lenses, and will be available in 26 styles across different colors, lenses, and frames. At launch, Meta Glasses will be available in three frame styles. The Meta Adventurer features a clean rectangular design and comes in Standard and Large sizes. The Meta Fury is a bolder frame for users who want a stronger look. Meta Glasses by Kylie is a slim oval frame designed in collaboration with Kylie Jenner. Similar to existing Meta AI Glasses, the new Meta Glasses include a dedicated action button that can be used to quickly access Meta AI or launch a favorite feature. They also feature open-ear speakers for calls, music, and more. Meta has also included a multi-mic array with wind noise reduction for calls and messaging. Users can capture photos and videos hands-free using voice commands. Meta claims more than eight hours of battery life, while the portable charging case can provide up to 40 additional hours. As expected, Meta Glasses come pre-loaded with Meta AI powered by Muse Spark from day one. Muse Spark is the first model from Meta Superintelligence Labs with improved multimodal capabilities. The same Meta AI upgrade is also now available on existing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta Glasses in the US and Canada via an update. With the Muse Spark-powered AI assistant, Meta AI in the new glasses can provide smarter answers, understand what the user is seeing, and help with daily tasks such as calendar management and navigation. Meta also announced an upcoming feature called the dynamic photo feature, which captures multiple frames and recommends the best one. Pedestrian navigation is also coming soon to these glasses. Meta is also adding support for 14 new live translation languages, including Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi, and Korean. The new Meta Glasses are available starting today through Meta.com, Best Buy, Amazon, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, and select retailers.
    • is that a personal preference? whether it is or isn't, i get where you're coming from. i try to get and use fully open sourced applications whenever i can but there are instances where i find a superior product that is closed sourced. in these cases i do my best to learn about the company, who operates it, their background, parent and sub structure etc. to some extent, depending on "the smell test". i really believe that Syncback is really and truly something great. even if you don't use it, it's always worth a recommendation to someone else, especially if that someone else is not very computer literate. for someone of your calibre you, you'll manage just fine with Syncthing, no doubt about it.
    • I agree, especially if it is cloud sourced, like this one is.. but I wouldn't say no to a local AI assistant similar to the Zettlab one which would be really helpful with my large Photos library, but also to perform tasks like installing Docker apps rather than me having to do it via Docker Compose, but I don't think we're quite there yet. Synology Photos is somewhat AI, you can ask it to search for certain people (if you have tagged them and it will attempt to match similar photos to the person) and if you put a search term in for "cars" for example, it will show you all photos with a car.
