Aion Online

It's been going all day, but they are having some serious lag issues. It's not exactly Ncsoft's fault. If you have access to the beta board look at this thread here to see what's happening:

I'm getting stopped at the llnw.net. So hopefully there is a solution sooner rather than later. Not that I care overly much as long as it's fixed by the 18th.

I loaded the cleint, but there's no way to register. The only place that has anything like a sign up is fileplanet, and that's only for subscribers.

Do you have a beta key? If so you'll have to go to NCsoft to create an account and register your key.

Use the My Account link at the top. If you're in the EU then you'll have to find the EU NCsoft site instead.

Where do i get the key? Did that come with the pre orders?

Heh. All the hype the game has had and they can't even spring for servers above the budget lot. How sad...

If it was the servers we wouldn't be able to do anything at all. It's not the servers that is the problem, it's the routes that your data takes to and from the servers that is the problem. Try doing a trace route as I mentioned earlier and you'll see that it times out before it even hits the servers. Something that for the most part is outside of NCsofts control, sadly. Not to mention that it's a holiday weekend and they're probably running a very small staff.

Most game servers like this [usually] block pinging, therefore a trace route would time out before reaching it. Regardless of their isp's status.

Rumors have been flying around (I call them that because I don't see any solid proof, though I cannot access the forum so it may be there) that some ISPs including AT&T are responsible for throttling the bandwidth. While this does sound questionable, it wouldn't be the first time AT&T and others have had issues with MMOs, as I do seem to recall WoW being inaccessible at one point for a couple days (if I recall this correctly anyway) to people with a certain ISP.

This game has been running dandy in Asia for a while now. It's not like they don't have some details already as to how much stress the servers can take.

To those still experiencing lag, the best options at this moment seem to be:

Relogging.

Right-clicking Aion Online on the NCSoft launcher and click repair.

Changing channels in the game by clicking Menu > Support > Change Channel.

Hope that helps to all those still having issues. As of this time, the servers may still be down after going offline for a 1 hour maintenance.

As for the game itself, I'm really enjoying it. Quite a lot of fun, graphics are beautiful, and the gameplay is truly decent. The animations too are really nice. I was surprised to see my character actually interact with the environment. :p

Overall, as of this time, I have zero complaints. :)

Yeah, I read that about AT&T earlier, too. And I really wouldn't be surprised if that's the case. The first time I logged in after the server maintenance it was mostly okay with a 300-400 ms ping but I shortly got booted after 10 minutes because of a stupid Game Guard error. Tried logging in after that again and it was back to the old super lag. With over 600k ms pings.

Still, I'm not worried.. I like the game and I know they'll have it fixed eventually. Just because it runs fine in Asia doesn't mean they can just take all of Asian servers and code and duplicate them here and have it work the same, it will take tweaking to perfect it.

I was hoping for a chance to decide if I was going to make a templar or gladiator in retail though. Choices. *sigh*

Yeah, I was dandy all last night and this morning, then the maintenance hit and now I can't even play. :/

Was having fun too. Hope they get it fixed. Maybe later tonight it'll ease up again, who knows.

rolled a warrior last nite

gods... general chat was driving me crazy

everyone was comparing this game to WoW

comments included: "this game isn't nearly as polished as WoW"

and all i could think was omg WoW has been around for FIVE years... you're playing a BETA

on a side note

are there any addons for this game?

like damage meters?

my gf noticed a target dummy in town the other day so it'd be nice to see how much dps i'm actually doing

I played for a few more lvls last night on my warrior, I have 2 issues so far.

1, when hitting (Melee) the sound is the same over and over again. An example is something Obi Wong mentioned about the dummies in town near the Warrior trainer. Its just BANG BANG BANG BANG!. Other than turning my speakers I can't stand it. Its too loud.

2, I'ts maybe just that I am too used to playing Wow but I really feel that moving about is retarded. I feel like those guys that first start playing wow key turning.

It is your opinion.. but... sounds like you're a child with a brand new shiny toy, you'll get bored eventually and then you'll find another game and say [New Game] > Aion.

Seriously 13 levels ... ? How's that even possible, to form an opinion in such a short time ?

I agree, I hate this "Uhh shiny!" mentality - At least give it a few months, then we'll see how great it is.

    • Microsoft admits one of the most crucial Outlook features is currently broken by Sayan Sen Microsoft is making some decent progress when it comes to Windows 11. Recently we have confirmed reports of some rather useful improvements landing in the next version of the OS, 26H2, wherein GPU driver TDR crashes may finally be fixed, plus the company is also allowing users to disable web content on the Search. On the Outlook front though things have not been so rosy. Last month in May we reported several problems affecting basic functionalities on the app. These included a problem where documents would open blank or corrupt themselves. Following that, Quick Steps, a very useful feature, would no longer work correctly, and finally, Microsoft acknowledged a problem wherein images would fail to load up properly inside the email. Microsoft had resolved those bugs later and almost exactly a month after we reported on them, the company has now admitted a new similarly basic issue, this time on Macs. Users recently started noticing that Outlook would no longer display email threads properly as the original message itself was not displayed. An affected user Tsoumpas, C (ngmb) nicely described the problem in a forum post they made on Microsoft's site. They wrote: "Description of the issue: After updating Outlook for Mac [Version 16.110 (26061317)] on 18/6/2026, replying to any email no longer includes the original message in the reply window. Prior to the update, replies correctly contained the original email text below my response. Expected behavior: The original message should be included in the reply, as in previous Outlook versions and according to the configured reply settings. Actual behavior: The reply window contains only a blank composition area (or only my response), with none of the original email text included." Obviously this must be a highly frustrating for users as noted by several in that thread. The post, at the time of writing, has also been upvoted by more than 40 users indicating that is a fairly widespread bug. Thankfully Microsoft seems to have acknowledged the problem right around that time as it opened a new issue on its official website. In the support article, the company recommends switching to Outlook for Mac from the legacy app, where the problem appears to be happening.
