They're just complaining to complain. No server could handle 6000 people all trying to get on at the same time. Don't tell me WoW's servers can do it because the fact of the matter is WoW had the same sort of queues when it was first out. Once people spread out some in the game it won't be nearly as bad.

How about we won't compare it to WoW or any other MMORPG at all ?

I have tried for over several WEEKS to download Aion, from Fileplanet, Gamershell and their Torrent with no success.

Hell I gave their lame downloader a chance and when it downloaded the 6 GB's it goes on to download the SAME 6 GB's all over again..

Can someone share some mirrors to download the full OB client of Aion please ? Or at least the CB + Patch..

And while my connection is terribad, it can handle downloading Torrents, yet for some reason their file is broken. (who the hell zips an installer when you download it with a torrent !!!).. /QQ end

The only thing I mentioned about WoW was that it had queues too when it first went live, so it's not like Aion's large queue times are unprecedented.

As for the other, have you checked with your isp? Because it sounds like the issues are on your/their end and not with the sources. Tens of thousands of other people have managed to download it from those sources so I don't know what to tell you about that.

I think the game looks promising. Has a lot of establishment and fixes/patches/content. I definitely think it will pull away some WOW players.. But just doesn't interest me at all. The only thing I think is cool about this game is the wings, and even that is on some timer... Still waiting on SWTOR.

Good Luck to everyone playing and happy leveling :)

It's not my ISP, although all of them are terrible here, it's not their fault, there isn't a magical switch they can flip to make Aion Updater work as intended.

Gamershell is weird, it seems to cut me off during the download (after like 100 MB's), their Torrent is somewhat alright but it took me a week or so to download it (I can't run it 24/7) and eventually the zip was corrupted.

ISP are usually not the problem, but your location might be it. I downloaded the client from steam and it was slow, but worked. Once that was installed and it was the NCLauncher doing all the work sure the downloads sucked, but it worked. I have seen worse. So I'd say location, and that sucks.

The game is for sure worth it, but then again its always opinion.

Its out there, on things other than torrents.

WoW didn't have Q's from day 1, it took a few weeks for them to impliment that system. WoW was virtually unplayable the first two weeks of its release (through loot lag, rollbacks ect... Aion has has IMO one of the smoothest launches of all time.

I see, I didn't start playing until two years ago so I'm just going by what others have said about it. Either way, large queues on a brand new released (in US) mmo are not unprecedented, and I agree, the release has been pretty smooth. No server crashes or unbearable lag like we experienced in the first 2 days of the open beta.

And someone on Aion Source posted this link:

Queue Dance

Been playing it for a little bit now. Biggest problem was getting the client. Found a way around it.

This is the first time ive played a MMO from launch, so logging in and seeing dozens of people appearing around me was odd. Mass arguments over loot since you have to kill X ammount of creatures and there are only 5 creatures spawning next to you but theres 50 people trying to get it, however to be fair the respawn times are really fast. It seems fun for the time being. Not sure If I'll stick with it though. :p

2 HOURS?! Hahaha, pathetic.

What's with you all of a sudden? You got into WoW and now you seem to act like a little whiny gamer because people chose to play another game. Get over yourself.

Also, for your information, WoW was relatively unplayable for a WEEK when WotLK launched, and that was only an expansion. Not to mention being on Illidan which suffered severe lag from September until then. Then there's been the issues with instance caps being too low for the higher populated servers, putting a 20+ minute wait time just to get into an instance. What's worse was, this went on for months before they fixed it, and JUMPING INTO AN INSTANCE TRYING TO GET IN IS NOT ****ING FUN!

What else? Shall we get into the fact that Tuesdays involve taking down the servers for roughly 12 hours? Oh, and don't expect to play on patch days, because the servers offline generally into the late afternoon...

Seriously man, I've played WoW quite a long time. I stood in line to get my copy of WotLK even. However, I'm not about to be blind to the fact that Blizzard actually has issues too.

As for Aion, there are still 2 (3 if you count Nezekan) servers that have ZERO queue times during peak hours, and a couple others with fairly low queues. Some people are just stubborn though, wanting to be where the big PvP guilds are.

Question, is there a way of stopping Aion from launching my browser and pointing me to http://uk.aiononline.com every single time I exit the damn game?

Well the wait times and problems I had before are gone. The starting area (because I made a new char) is almost empty, a far cry from launch which was full.

Its good, I think it has some things what WoW should take note of.

For example, you get a mail in game, do you have to go to a mailbox? Nope, press a button and your mail is delivered right to your feet.

But on some things it seems to try to cut corners. In WoW you need a pick to mine, but in Aion you seem to be able to collect ore with your fingertips :p

Liking it so far, if I were to complain about anything, it would be the people. And thats no fault of Aion. The general chat window of full of ****. People spamming and talking nonsense. But then, you will get that anywhere.

Got my collectors edition items, bit dissapointing to be honest. A "black hat" which is clearly not black and looks like a sailors hat. Ah well. (Y) :D

There's a checkbox in the options for 'load aion website at game exit'. Uncheck it.

CE items are, IMHO, garbage, with the exception of the wings. Hat looks retarded. I've already uninstalled. Too much of the same old crap, and I never liked the Final Fantasy/anime thing. Thought it would have been more westernized by launch, but it's still just a really annoying experience (for me). I'm glad others like it though. Nice for people to finally have a decent MMO alternative to WoW. Aion just isn't my thing, I guess.

What does "relatively" mean here ? That you didn't get to play it or many people didn't get to play it ? Because WoW has like 100+ realms and a **** load of players DID play right after release, including me.

And again with these WoW > Aion or whatever crap.. you get over yourself. You don't like to see people bashing Aion for sucking at stability ? Poor you, stop bringing up WoW to compare failures, we all know WoW's history.

On a more personal note.. I still can't get it to update properly.. :(

Managed to find a good mirror to download the 1.5.0.1 client and installed it flawlessly, ran the updater and went to bed, woke up today to see an error telling me to basically go back to sleep or play WoW, because Aion ain't gonna do **** for me... Also for some odd reason it shows as NA version for me, even though I downloaded the client from some French web site and I set my launcher to EU region..

How hard is it to include an up to date client on many mirrors ? Hell it's free !

Dude, if you payed attention at all, Sethos previously posted that this game is going to fail, that he has no interest in it, and yet, here he is again, posting in a thread about a game he apparently doesn't give a flying **** about just to be an ass.

I like both games for your information, but like I said before, I'm not about to pretend WoW is totally perfect, despite my feelings about how great of a developer I feel Blizzard is. The point I'm trying to make is that just about every game has issues at launch. The biggest issues I'm seeing so far with Aion involve:

Massive queue on a few realms during peak hours. (though zero queue on 2-3 of them during these times)

People not wanting to move to the lower popped servers.

Some lag spikes during peak hours, though it didn't happen at all last night.

Other than that, the game is pretty sound. Those issues should be fixed by this weekend though, with a new server being loaded up, and quite possibly increasing the server caps (they've already made it clear that they can, but I believe it's a matter of making sure the servers get balanced out). I just hope they lock the heavily populated servers from character creation in order to allow the flood of people that will be playing this weekend to move elsewhere.

---

As for your updating issue, it'd help if you clearly described the error message you received. Otherwise, I can't really help you on that. Also, why didn't you just download it directly from their website? Their speeds are good if I recall correctly, though I think I used the torrent link they gave out when I was playing the beta. Zero issues with it, of course I'm in North America.

Best of luck though.

You're the one not liking to see the comparisons I think, and are the one defending WoW so heavily. The fact is that all I am saying (and dead.cell, too) is that WoW had it's share of issues at launch and whenever they released new expansions. If you can't deal with that fact then I don't know what to tell you.

Aions servers (all but one really) have been completely stable since they were put up on Sunday. Other than in the first 10 minutes of the server going live I haven't had any lag or disconnects what so ever. Besides the large queues you cannot honestly say this has been a bad launch for an mmo. And the queues aren't even really NCsofts fault. They can't help it if people all wanted to roll on the same server. Maybe not very well thought out in some cases (they should have had 1-2 more servers for NA and EU), but not bad in any event.

Also as for your problem..as dead.cell also said if you can't give an error message then no one can help you. You're complaining just to complain at this point without the error message.

Oh yeah, one more thing, I don't have any links but you can download just the patches, once you have the main bulk of the game updated.

How about we all shut up about wow/any fracking mmo.

This thread is about Aion, not WOW.

I agree.

So yeah, I just got myself a nice blue great sword.

I've read that banking and payment apps work on Murena /e/OS (I'll have to check the ones I use) and I also really want to support Fairphone 😉

    • NVIDIA announces 35 new AI HPC supercomputers across Europe by Fiza Ali NVIDIA has announced that 35 AI high-performance computing (HPC) supercomputers are planned to open throughout Europe this year. This marks what the company describes as the largest single-year expansion of AI infrastructure in the history of the continent. These new systems, unveiled at ISC High Performance 2026, will be placed at a number of national supercomputing centres, AI factories, and research institutes to provide advanced computing resources to more than three million researchers. Describing AI, NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated, "AI is the new instrument of science, and Europe is building the infrastructure to put it in the hands of millions of researchers." Built on NVIDIA's Blackwell and Hopper architectures, the new systems will support research in climate science, healthcare, clean energy, quantum computing, and other scientific fields. Among the major projects are the Barcelona Supercomputing Center's MareNostrum 5 AI upgrade, BavariaAI's Blue Swan platform in Germany, Italy's IT4LIA AI factory, Germany's HammerHAI project, and Sweden's Mimer AI Factory. The Barcelona Supercomputing Center plans to expand MareNostrum 5 with NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 and GB200 NVL4 systems. In total, the BSC expects to deliver up to 20 exaflops of AI training performance and 33 exaflops of AI inference performance. This increased computational capability will support research efforts related to climate modelling, biotechnology, energy systems, etc. Furthermore, as part of the IT4LIA project, more than 8,000 GPUs, each based on NVIDIA’s GB200 NVL4 architecture, will be used in Italy. This represents one of the largest AI factory initiatives announced to date. Additionally, the Blue Swan platform from BavariaAI will include about 1,000 GPUs to help develop multimodal AI models for use in the medical field, robotics, and various areas of scientific research. NVIDIA also emphasized in the announcement how rapidly growth of accelerated computing usage is taking place within both energy and climate-related research. The company said Siemens Energy uses NVIDIA-powered technologies to significantly accelerate the process of designing and simulating hydrogen-capable gas turbines. Using those same acceleration technologies, Siemens was able to reduce simulation time by up to 77 percent. The company also highlighted several quantum computing initiatives across Europe. CINECA, EuroHPC, and Pasqal are integrating a quantum processing unit into Italy's CINECA supercomputing centre using NVIDIA's CUDA-Q platform. Meanwhile, researchers at Germany's Julich Supercomputing Centre recently simulated a universal 50-qubit quantum computer on the JUPITER supercomputer. The announcement demonstrates Europe's continued commitment to building out its infrastructure supporting AI and supercomputing as governments, research organizations, and technology companies compete to build out their respective computing capacities and secure their positions in advanced scientific research.
