Halo Reach Thread

Seriously? The current melee system is AWFUL. I think what really messes up melee is the fact you've got shields + health. It really does not mix well and has been highly inconsistent for me.

I'll be full health 75% shields and die from a melee when I melee someone who has almost no shield/some health.

Edit: And super lunge is lame. I hate commando pro in MW2.. but I swear this has super frikin' god-like lunge.

The lunge is shorter than Halo 3, so I don't see what you are saying. The Sword and Hammer are certainly high in lunge but the only one which is unbalanced IMO is the Hammer seeing as you can defend against the sword with a melee.

BTW, the shield/health system is incredibly predictable. You CANNOT die from one melee if you have ANY shields, at all. So you are either getting extremely laggy games or someone's cheating. I will admit the animations need to be cleaned up and perhaps the time between melees lengthened but the system is very stable.

Is it just me or does the gameplay look exactly the same as every other Halo game, just additions like loadouts and so forth? So it's essentially like the free TF2 updates for PC?

And TF2 was just like doom but with online and classes and capture the flag and such?

What do you expect? People always say stuff like this, but it's ridiculous. You want a completely new franchise. Not a sequel. The way Arena is set up alone makes it pretty revolutionary for online gaming.

I haven't played it - that's why I'm asking. From what video someone linked on the previous page I don't see anything majorly different.

I'd say that they didn't do it so much to be revolutionary but rather to combat all of the 2nd accounts that come in and ruin it for a lot of newer (or lower) ranked individuals.

I speak from personal experience knowing people who have made 5+ accounts for ranking in Slayer, MLG, Doubles, etc.

Integrating actual gaming leagues into matchmaking is pretty big. I agree with you, though. I don't think they did it to be really revolutionary. Thing is, I think it will be.

The grenades are way too overpowered compared to the Halo 3 counterpart. I get it that they want to change but goddamn they're way too powerful.

Grenades are more like Halo 2 were before they nerfed 'em. They don't bounce as much as they did in Halo 3, which means you got to aim it for the right spot to get that great explosion to take a guy out. The damage they do is high, but as a grenade is a "mini-bomb" it should be. I think the radius is a tad bit to large, make the AoE of it a little smaller and it'll probably be alot nicer. I prefer theses over to the horrible ones from H3 and nerfed ones in H2.

It looks the same, and this might just be from not playing any Halo in a few years, but it plays differently from past Halo's. It's faster paced IMO, in every aspect.

Anyone here with bungie pro mind renderring 2 clips for me?

Clip 1: Capture the Flag

Clip 2: Video Test

I don't have Bungie Pro but I can capture them for you in 720p and then upload them for you to grab. I can do it tomorrow if you want? (I can't righ tnow because I'm playing MW2 and streaming.)

    • I'm still rocking iOS 25.x on my primary phone cuz iOS 26 still has usability quirks (mostly aesthetic and thus its UX) which I don't wanna deal with -- and I've been piloting them with all of these updates on my backup phone, so I'm well aware of its "improvements" since iOS 26 was first released (compared to version 26.5.x).
