I have no problem with the difficulty. I do have a problem with the fact that a random mob in a cave 1 shots me while a dragon does not (and I've killed 5 dragons so far). Meh.

Also what they have done with the interface is just terrible. You see what magic is active on you through a freaking menu. I play on 2560x1440, I can handle more than 10 things on my screen when I'm looking at my inventory. I really hope modders will be able to fix this. Compared to this the Oblivion interface seems great (and I disliked that too). ****ing consoles.

What's wrong with a minimalist interface? You blame consoles yet they are the ones playing on 40in and 50in TVs with way more space then PC gamers.

Just picked this up during lunch for PS3. Played for about 30 minutes. Not bad. It is very much like Oblivion, except some things have been tweaked and fancied a bit.

I dislike loot/inventory screen. I would like to see more of the old style menus, instead of this 1 item at a time crap. Though it does look slick.

Other than that, looks like it will be a enjoyable game. Glad I get Monday and Tuesday off of work to play this.

From what I understand the resolution of console games is usually 720p? Even if its 1080p you still don't have a keyboard and mouse for gaming so the interface gets dumbed down. And then there's people like me with 27" displays (which I am seeing more and more of these days). The size of the display is irrelevant. If you disagree that's fine, I have no intention of arguing about this. :)

And there's nothing wrong with a minimalist interface as long as there's a way to make it non minimalist. Some of us like to see more stats on our equipment, active effects displayed at all times etc. Right now there's just freaking nothing on my screen when I have plenty of room to display a lot of stats.

Apparently Bethesda has been having issues with consistency between not only textures in game between systems, but also what is packaged....

http://www.lensoftruth.com/bethesda-acknowledges-skyrim-xbox-360-texture-streaming-issue/

What I find odd is, I bought the PS3 version. The map I got was the one the 360 has. My map is huge and made from the tough and rough paper that they are describing. Mine is not shiny or made from the same paper material as the instruction booklet, but from a much tougher and coarse paper material.

So maybe LoT is just retarded lately, as they have had some bad reviews and information, or Bethesda is just throwing **** together lol.

It is probably because you've gone to an area beyond your level and that is why you get killed in one shot. From what i've read it is more like Fallout levelling and the mobs in certain areas will be much higher than your level and not scale in difficulty depending on your level. However reviewers have said story quests the mobs seem to scale (including the dragons). So that might be the case, you're exploring too much :)

I've just made it to Riverwood and decided to do a few side quests. I'm currently doing the

Dragon claw quest. I've found the claw and i'm heading to find its secret. I thought i was going to lose the guy running away but a Dragur (sp?) got him.

Well, I've played for about 7 hours now and the game is awesome.

I hit a couple of monsters that were TOUGH, like the spider in the

barrows for the Dragon Claw quest. I tried to melee him... bad idea

at my skill level.

Anyhow, I've come to the conclusion that magic is going to be

a lot more fun than melee, so time to re-roll and go straight mage.

P.S.

Is there supposed to be a start-up movie on the PC version? When

I load the game, I get the Bethesda logo with some smoke, and then

it just pops straight to the menu (New, load, etc.). Seems like there

should be some sort of intro video there.

Nope, no intro

Sorry consoles haven't done anything. If anyone, we should blame only the developers. They themselves are responsible for making their creations great or hopeless like most of the modern games.

yeah, they have. The 'newest' generation is growing up on consoles that are rather limited compared to PCs (even with the super cool latest version, the tech lags behind, and is underutilized or difficult to code for, but that's a separate issue), developers are tending to code on the basic console first (where money is due to the amount of folks/kids/young adults opting to run to Walmart and grab a console) and in turn, porting their game code to the PC, which unfortunately brings a myriad of issues with it.. and the under-performance.

Due to the demographic of the users, consoles in general have dumbed down gaming. From the constant hints on screen and glowy marks telling you what to do 24x7, to the basic use of graphics and textures in order to keep within console specs.

I do also blame developers, but only so much, as they have to go where the money is, and time equals money. Less time coding on disparate platforms, the more money they make.

Awesome game though.

What are you saying? The physical size of the screen and the resolution of the screen are not the same thing.

My 40" HDTV has a resolution of 1080p (1920x1080) while my primary monitor (not counting my two others) is 27" with a resolution of 1920x1200.

From a screen space perspective the 27" monitor has MORE space than the 40" TV screen. The LCD TV only wins out in physical screen size, but that really doesn't matter all that much.

It's okay, you can just set your clock to 11.11.2011 11:11 again on your computer, and take a proper screenshot.

and wasting 1.2 Gigawatts!! Great scott no!

About Texture issues on 360

?Skyrim uses a lot of dynamic streaming systems, including textures. We?ve seen a few reports of certain textures temporarily scaling down on the Xbox 360, and not scaling back up. We have verified that this issue does not occur when playing off the disk and when the game is fully cached (not installed). Skyrim makes heavy use of the Xbox 360 caching system, and caches over the normal course of play while in menus or interiors. This cache can be wiped when other games are played or when the user manually removes it. We?re working on a solution in the next title update for those who have installed the game.?

Just tried it running it from disc and voila!! no more muddy and low res textures

Can we ever have discussions about games without the PC v console bitching? We get it, those of us on console are dumb and not hardcore...lets move on.

Anyone else have issues with Amazon Prime and release-date delivery? Granted, for Prime members release-date delivery is free, however, I am paying for Prime. With Dark Souls the game didn't arrive until the next day - fortunately, Amazon was apprised of the issue and offered a $5 credit. Here I am again with Skyrim and am in the same boat. Kind of frustrating. I moved over to Amazon to boycott GameStop but its actually been more of a pain. Since UPS doesn't deliver on weekends...ugh.

Hopefully by the time I get the game the texture issue will be fixed for 360.

10 hours in. Currently level 10. Wanted to be warrior primarily, but finding it's less beneficial to not utilize all aspects of combat (1/2h, bow, magic). So I'm sticking to destruction and 1h's for now. Using fire, seems to be a great combo atm. Using bows when I haven't been spotted and from ranging dragons until I can get up close and personal. Loving the favorite menu (I'm 360). I really need to head to the college to learn some sort of shield spell to help with the no shield part.

Find myself just walking around alot doing random things. Random orc acting tough? I beat that ass. Jumped by saber cat? No problem, lit his ass up! So much to do, game is phenomenal.

I'd say go into the bars/pubs. I seem to be able to get into quite a few brawls. Always fun to beat up some people. :)

Anyone find a quality wiki or a place that is being built into a solid wiki?

UPS and USPS do not ship on Veteran's Day ;)

Wow, I wasn't sure this was gonna be as good as I remebered Oblivion to be but then I realised I needed a **** and was starving hungry and it was night and the dog was passed out from starvation. Just been to Riverwood and currently heading riiiight across the map to the thieves guild to get a fence. Some decent looting on the way :p

One or two questions though, I lost my horse and my follower Janessa whilst traversing a rather steep and treacherous mountain.. Where will I find them they cost 1500 in Gold and I got Lydia as my follower 5 minutes after coughing up for Janessa anyway.. Anyone have any ideas as to which is a better companion or their particular traits? Most online guides don't seem to give much away as of yet except for how to obtain them.

I personally agree on the leveling up part for the NPC's, that was just stupid. It ruined the game when i had the best armor i could find, best sword and i was almost max level and a stupid wolf attacks and kills me. i turned it off and have not played since.

Apparently, they do. My wife sent me a text earlier tonight that it was on the porch when she got home. So at least I finally have it - now to resist the urge for 3 more days to play :/

Anyone working on a stealth character? I really want to play as a silent assassin after having played one in Fallout 3 - had a blast. Also, watched the GiantBomb quicklook...hilarious when they killed one of the followers!

    • Microsoft confirms Windows 11 26H2 to finally get one of the most requested features by Sayan Sen This past week Microsoft officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2 with the latest build, 26300.8697, for testing in the experimental Insider channel. The company also published more details about it mainly directed towards IT admins and system admins. Essentially version 26H2 will be delivered via an enablement package (eKB) over Windows 11 25H2. If you are wondering about some of the upcoming features in the next Windows version, one of them is certainly very interesting as Microsoft has confirmed it is finally bringing one of the most overwhelmingly requested features ever. March Rogers, the Partner Director of Design at Microsoft, recently highlighted some of the Search improvements that the company is testing, and during the interaction with users on X where he posted it, Rogers also confirmed that the company is working on disabling web search results inside Search. This is something which many users find quite annoying as Windows would often serve them links to Bing which it feels could be more helpful rather than bringing up the actual object or app the user may be searching for on their PC. Finally though the company is prioritizing local file search over the web. However the feature could not be disabled for many users as not all new features are immediately rolled out to everyone. Image via phantomofearth (X) Windows enthusiast phantomofearth who likes to dig deep into new builds uncovered the IDs you will need to enable these features. Using the following feature IDs the new Search-related features landing in Windows 11 26H2 can be used. Follow the steps below to enable the new Search experience on Windows 11 build 26300.8697: Download ViveTool from GitHub and unpack the files in a convenient and easy-to-find folder. Press Win + X and select Terminal (Admin). Switch Windows Terminal to the Command Prompt profile with the Ctrl + Shift + 2 shortcut or by clicking the arrow-down button at the top of the window. Navigate to the folder containing the ViveTool files with the CD command. For example, if you have placed ViveTool in C:\Vive, type CD C:\Vive. Type vivetool /enable /id: and press Enter. Restart your computer. If you change your mind and want to restore, repeat the steps above and replace /enable with /disable in the commands on steps 5 and 6. Delightedly and perhaps also expectedly, once you disable web search and other such bloat, the Windows 11 Search is said to get snappier as remarked by another Windows enthusiast Xeno.
