[Official] CR-48 ChromeOS Laptop Shipment-Tracking

Have to say the Tracker is broke. Just found another one that says it was delivered to my zip code but the city it lists is about 10 miles outside my zip code.

ORLANDO, FL 32817 6.00 lbs 12/09 12/10 Overnight - Correct City

LONGWOOD, FL 32817 6.00 lbs 12/09 12/10 Overnight - Incorrect City

Tracker seems broken...

These stupid netbooks are exhausting me. Can't wait To get mine and be done with this part of the forum :p lol

Definitely. It would seem others are getting exhausted from being here too, since it is much more quiet here today. It was fun when everything was updating, and new things kept happening almost like a twitter feed. It sucks now that nothing is happening and the tracker seems broken...

The really stupid thing is that if Google had actually done what their Pilot Progam page SAID THEY WOULD DO (i.e., e-mail people who were selected to participate), we wouldn't have a 50+ page thread here that mostly consists of speculation about who is or is not getting one!! It really feels like Google is intentionally messing with people's heads about these netbooks. Why else would they change the pattern for the reference numbers after people figured out how they worked and keep people in the dark about getting them?

They did state that one of the reasons for the program was to build "Buzz" (their choice of words not mine) about the product and that is exactly what it is doing, no one knows if they are going to get one or not so there are people talking about them like crazy.

I have a feeling these went out to those who answered the survey in a manner t which they were they weren't tech savoy people. In other words stupid people are getting these not the techies lol

That might be true for the individual applications, but the business application seemed to be geared towards people who were fairly competent. I haven't looked at the other applications.

Stats for December 16, 2010: (no new packages yet today)

Packages shipped: 161

really so only 161 were shipped out?

Seems to be another shipping to my zip. Delivery set for 20th via 2nd day air. There is one that's delivered today but I'm getting the feeling that its not for me. :|

This just reinforces the idea that the method that the publisher of that tracker is using to find the reference numbers simply isn't working anymore. Every previous shipment was roughly 2000 units. It seems unlikely that after (supposedly) not shipping any for two days, they would ship out only 161 units today.

And it still seems odd to me that the entire metro area around me, with over 620,000 people has recieved a grand total of 7 units, with only two of them going to the main city itself.

So I just got home and I found a UPS InfoNotice. It says it requires authorization to leave package. Not sure if this is a netbook or not. I'm not expecting any delivery from other places at all. They will try again on Monday. The tracker site didn't say anything about a netbook being delivered to my zip (the only one that was shipped to my zip was delivered on the 14th). So now I have to wait it out until Monday, but I'm not getting my hopes high on this.

Call the office. Sometimes if you catch them early enough, you can arrange to pick it up at the office in the evening after the truck returns. That way you won't have to wait until Monday. Is there any tracking or reference number on the InfoNotice that you could use to trace where it came from? That would determine if it is one of the netbooks or not.

Unfortunately there's no info besides the InfoNotice Number to track the package. When I track it, it's not in their system yet. Maybe I'll call the office and see if I can pick it up, but that may not be possible because the last time this happened, they said I can't pick it up and would have to wait until Monday (it was about a month ago for my brother's laptop).

There's one being shipped to my (small) city. Shipped yesterday with delivery set for 12/20 (Monday).

Man, I'd be so happy if that thing was heading my way, one can only hope! :)

I signed up on Dec. 10.

Do you guys know if I call UPS and give them my address, will they tell me if there's a package coming? Thanks

Well, it is worth a try anyway. I know my local office will occasionally let you do it if you come up with a good excuse (tell them you are leaving this weekend to go out of town for a couple of weeks or something, which is believable since it is so close to Christmas). Just let them know that you were not expecting the package to arrive as early as it did and that you really need to pick it up today.

I've called and got the drivers location before and was able to pick up the package from the driver. It doesn't always work this way, he was just a street over from mine when I called.

    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
