[Official] CR-48 ChromeOS Laptop Shipment-Tracking

Recommended Posts

So I was gone all day, and as a got home, the USP truck was outside my door, and the guy was walking away from my front door. My hopes high-rocketed up. I walk up to my door to see a package of peaches from the state of OR...:(

Glad to see I'm not the only one with this type of experience! xD

One coming to my zipcode, I wish there was some way to find out for sure..

I wish there was too. The site isn't linking to the tracking code anymore, so we can't even call UPS to confirm it.

Yeah I'm driving myself nuts trying to figure out if anyone in my area code knew about the program, or whatever, and the what ifs.. but I guess it's just a wait and see kind of thing, which is tapping on my nerves a little bit.

I got mine today and tomorrow is my birthday, blew my mind when the UPS driver dropped it off!

Grats. The tracker said Spearfish (my town) before with an ETA instead of Delivered - Now it says Spearfish OCL (any ideas wtf that means) and says delivered. Nothing at my door, must not have been mine but don't really know who in my town would have wanted one at all. Well, there went my dreams of a free laptop to test. I know there is a few more days left but I'm not keeping my hopes up either.

just checked the tracker again for the first time in a couple days and i now see one coming to both my home zip code and my work zip code. i registered myself at work, and my wife at home, so hopefully one of them is coming to me!

I wish I'd known about this a while ago.. Now it's probably too late to actually have a decent chance at getting one.

Yea I dunno, I applied right as it was happening and so far nothing. I was even in direct contact with a higher up at Google (their main project manager) in regards to my work (government) and he stated if we qualified they may be able to send me several hundred devices to test with. I was nice about it, told him that currently we do not use Google Apps due to costs and spending tax payers dollars, and that I was only interested in getting a couple of units to test in our Public Safety functions (Police and Fire). So far no response, I was being honest and not greedy... all the while, I am seeing reports of people under 18 getting them (not qualified per the registration rules), and some people getting more then one who aren't a business/education/dev. I am not exactly jealous of these people, but I was looking forward to testing these devices and see how I can implement them in my work, at the same time helping Google out with their pilot program. So I am a little disappointed in the selection process at this point.

Heh. I'm kinda in the same boat. I wanted to test new platform for my business. We are planning to move our infrastructure to web, because its more cheap and secure. But they don't want to ship to Ukraine now :( . And i doubt they ever will. Right now our only hope is to get one through our USA affiliates, who gave us US address or to wait for official release :( . And most funny thing is that our local Google contact doesn't even know about test event :)

It is quite annoying when you think about it because you just know that people are twisting their entries to try and get them only to let them collect dust or sell. Sadly you just can't win them all, and so far it definitely seems like it.

Its just another Netbook, Everyone in the west just wants to get their hands on something new. All that ******** about "testing" them they want to just say "hey look what I got from Google, Arent I good/better than you please define me define me"

So the InfoNotice that UPS left on my door yesterday wasn't a netbook. I went to pick it u today and it was some documents that someone sent my brother. Good news is that there's one headed for my zip code and ETA is 12/20. This is only the second one that has been shipped to my city so I'm hoping this is for me. Although I won't be holding my breath.

    • Being on GitHub doesn't make something safe. Like any unofficial scripts to do x or y this caters to people with just enough knowledge to be dangerous. If you want to do what this does, and you actually know what you're doing then write your own script (or maybe just add the reg keys yourself) if you don't have the ability to read and understand what a script is doing, and especially don't run it with elevated privileges. Or in this case just use an MSA, sign up the normal route, and stop trying to push water up hill
    • Dude get a clue, LTSC is Enterprise, not even legal for consumers, and ESU is not mainstream support cycle, just an extended security updates period.
    • Nvidia is your issue more so than linux itself. I did used it for a while with an old 1060 3gb, but using propietary drivers was kind of messy.
