Ehh...First time posting in here...I haven't managed to get the vibrant colours the lot of you have as I'm learning but I'll get there!

I just got my T2i (first SLR) on Friday of last week. I love the camera and I especially love the detail of the shots when the image is enhanced.

So here's a shot I took of a leaf hanging over our balcony:

This is another one I took.I like the orange look of this phone. I'm on my laptop so I stole it off the facebook upload, so its obviously a compressed to **** version.

It's nice, a bit too orange IMO though (like on the forehead), I probably would have adjusted the WB just a tad.

Are you shooting jpg or raw?.. Really, don't be so caught up on colors, at least not while you're shooting... Shoot raw if you aren't already. Because if you are, really there is nothing you can adjust in camera to really affect the colors (in terms of pop) that's all done by editing. (I mean of course different lighting will affect colors slightly different)...

Work more on composition first, to me the focus of the image is the middle leaf holding the largest amount of water, but due to the limitations of your lens the background is not as blurred as it should be, so it's taking away from the image, I want to look at the red vines, since this is the case you need to work on different angles etc. to make it stand out better.

That shot was in jpg. I thought the default format was RAW but later that night I went and changed it to RAW.

I really appreciate the feedback and advice. I'm guessing a different lens aside from the kit lens will offer more of that blur (bokeh, right?). I was thinking of picking up the f1.8 50mm lens but not sure if that's what I should be going with or something else. I'll definitely work on different angles to get more out of the shot. Thanks!

How you like it ?

If you mean how do I like the camera, I love it. If you mean how did someone like the photo....Well...I hope they did for a first attempt lol!

Played around with an old SLR lens I found in my dads old camera bag. Added some post effects to make it feel even older lol :)

Also just got a shiny new red toy that I will be taking many pictures of when I get some new rims for it :D

Took this last night. Asked her if she wanted to go on a photo shoot for practice.

Lucky man!

Got this boy at the weekend. Damn these guys are quick! It's a little fuzzy, but that's cos he was twitching so much while he was eating!

First one looks good! - what lens was it?

Great photo, it is a LITTLE blurry, should have increased ISO to about 400 (but again, he was quick and I imagine you didn't have much time)... I've personally never got such a close-up of a squirrel, very well done. I love how his color really matches the surroundings.

Really, great image!

My brother and his friend, not sure if I like the color or B&W better:

Man...Doubt my kit lens can get floral shots as nice as yours :p. Love your pics.

I prefer the black and white personally. It seems to convey more innocence. Perhaps because it reminds me of clean programming such as Little Rascals and Leave it to Beaver.

Exif?

and what i meant was that my kit lens isnt sharp @ 55mm.. even when fully focused. And this image the moon is slightly blurred becoz of the huge exposure time of 15seconds :)

and i calculated for it.

but still i have a composite here look at it..

i took these photos all myself.

and the camera was stationary not held.. but pictures werent so sharp ... first few the AF was able to focus on the moon. But as it got dimmer the focus was lost and as i was shooting other things to i had to go to MF and first focus it to something far away. like 200yards away there were few bright blubs i focused it on them.

heres that edit :)

as u can see the first moon image was with AF on the moon.. but its not crisp.. now im assuming its becoz at such distance lens maxes out and this is a 100% crop btw.

@ Bassem ur moon pic looks very very sharp.. what gear did u use? it seems like a 200mm shot.

Yes, the 50mm f/1.8 is sharper but you won't see that much of a difference. Mine was shot at 250mm, then cropped. Plus, 15 seconds is definitely too long considering the moon is moving.

I'm using a crappy tele lens, the 55-250mm f/4-5.6. I set it to manual focus, turned on LiveView, zoomed in and focused. I tried different settings, from slow shutter speeds to bumping up the ISO. The one I posted was shot at 3200 (cropped, of course), the noise wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

    • Windows 11 is a big thumbs down from me. I used for a period of a few days while it was in insider and windows 10 was the main OS, and realised it wasn't for me. I am still waiting for Windows to be tolerable again, a shame as at one point I was very pro Microsoft.
    • Classic outlook, not only does it have a much fuller feature set, it doesn't include Microsoft attempting to sync my emails from my servers to theirs. If classic outlook is ever removed from office, and the version I paid for in 2021 stops working for some reason, I'll use Thunderbird.
    • Kdenlive 26.04.2 by Razvan Serea Kdenlive is an acronym for KDE Non-Linear Video Editor. It works on GNU/Linux, Windows and BSD. Through the MLT framework, Kdenlive integrates many plugin effects for video and sound processing or creation. Furthermore Kdenlive brings a powerful titling tool, a DVD authoring (menus) solution, and can then be used as a complete studio for video creation. Kdenlive supports all of the formats supported by FFmpeg or libav (such as QuickTime, AVI, WMV, MPEG, and Flash Video, among others), and also supports 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratios for both PAL, NTSC and various HD standards, including HDV and AVCHD. Video can also be exported to DV devices, or written to a DVD with chapters and a simple menu. Video editing features: Multi-track editing with a timeline and supports an unlimited number of video and audio tracks. A built-in title editor and tools to create, move, crop and delete video clips, audio clips, text clips and image clips. Ability to add custom effects and transitions. A wide range of effects and transitions. Audio signal processing capabilities include normalization, phase and pitch shifting, limiting, volume adjustment, reverb and equalization filters as well as others. Visual effects include options for masking, blue-screen, distortions, rotations, colour tools, blurring, obscuring and others. Configurable keyboard shortcuts and interface layouts. Rendering is done using a separate non-blocking process so it can be stopped, paused and restarted. Kdenlive also provides a script called the Kdenlive Builder Wizard (KBW) that compiles the latest developer version of the software and its main dependencies from source, to allow users to try to test new features and report problems on the bug tracker. Project files are stored in XML format. An archiving feature allows exporting a project among all assets into a single folder or compressed archive. • Here's how to watch the Xbox Games Showcase today and what to expect by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The June games showcase week has been a packed one, with everything from major presentations like Sony and Summer Game Fest to indie-focused reveals coming in almost every day. Now, it's almost time for another big one, with Microsoft bringing its Xbox Games Showcase back later today. This is a double feature too, with a Gears of War E-Day deep dive also being attached to it. For anyone wanting to tune in online, the 2026 Xbox Games Showcase is kicking off at 10 AM PT | 1 PM ET | 6 PM BST | 7 PM CEST later today, June 7. The event will be available to watch on the official Xbox YouTube (4K 60FPS), Twitch, Facebook, Steam, Amazon Live, and other portals. Separate livestreams for American Sign Language and Audio Description will also be available. "This year marks 25 years of XBOX, and this Showcase is poised to be a true celebration, offering world premieres, new gameplay, fresh updates, and more for a swathe of projects we cannot wait to share," said Microsoft about this presentation. With a new CEO behind it that is pulling off some interesting moves, Xbox may have some surprises to reveal today. New looks at first-party games like Halo Campaign Evolved from Halo studios, Fable from Playground Games, InXile Entertainment's Clockwork Revolution, Mojang's Minecraft Dungeons II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward are to be expected here. We may finally get to see the new Blade from Arcane Studios in action and a new Persona game from Atlus at the showcase too. Surprise announcements may also arrive from other Microsoft-owned studios like Bethesda, MachineGames, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, Rare, World's Edge, or Blizzard. Considering how every new release nowadays is staying away from November and December to avoid Grand Theft Auto VI's release, any launch dates Microsoft announces will probably skip those months as well. Once the Xbox Games Showcase ends, Microsoft will immediately kick off the Gears of War: E-Day Direct. This deep dive into the upcoming prequel from The Coalition should attach gameplay footage and perhaps a release window to the highly anticipated project.
