im more or less a battlefield nub (all my experience is with bc2). is this gonna be more like the ol school battlefields games than bad company 2? cause from what i gathered bad company 2 is pretty different then the older ones (ie the game scale is a smaller and less people and it's more infantry oriented then it is vehicule oriented)...

BF3 will have 64 players and large maps (on pc, consoles will have 24 players and smaller maps). Not a lot has been revealed regarding vehicles yet.

Think of it as a combination of Battlefield 2 and Bad Company 2. It'll feature the large maps and variety of vehicles in BF2 as well as the changes they made to BC2 (4 classes instead of 7 and lack of commander + jets).

oh they killed the jets int his one? i remember we would play the old battlefield games in school and the guys who were good would own everyone in jets. pretty annoying... i might skip on this one is the case. i'm not that big fan of fps with a lot of vehicule warfare. it drives me nuts alone when people do it in bad company 2.

and aren't the planning on launching this close to the release date of modern warfare 3? they tried that once with medal of honor and lost badly...

No, this will still have jets.

That was an error on my part. Battlefield 3 will definitely feature jets. It won't feature a commander though but that could change closer to the game's release date.

BF3 has jets...

These screenshots and these trailers have been blowing my mind away lately. I really can't wait for this game! :D

I hope Call of Duty makes some improvements to their graphics engine as well. Maybe it's just me, but the graphics on Call of Duty seem outdated compared to other games.

Very doubtful that will happen anytime even remotely soon. And it's not just you, the Call of Duty engine is very outdated in terms of abilities, factually speaking.

It looks outdated because the engine they're using is outdated. It dates as far back as the first Call of Duty game... and farther. Frostbite 2 is probably based on Frostbite 1 but in its current form, it has a lot of modern features (with full DX11 support for the PC version). In fact, you won't be able to play Battlefield 3 on Windows XP because the engine doesn't support DX9. It's a trend that should be followed by other developers.

I liked it. (Y)

Liked too, but they're miles away from that. They're not even at half a million yet. :( When is the full trailer supposed to be released, anyway?

The 12 minute reveal trailer is going to be released April 17th. I can't wait! :D

They're at about 560,000 as opposed to about 450,000 last Friday when I checked. The way 'likes' are published and the ease of liking something will expedite the process. I think it comes out the 17th.

I think it's safe to say that it won't reach 1,000,000 likes by the 17th. Oh well, at least they offered us a chance to see it early.

    • "just $100 per TB"? Just? Are we trying to make this seem like the new normal? Kinda weird to make it sound like that is not a ridiculously expensive asking price.
    • The reviews you refer to mean nothing. Where there is no journalism there is no reason to call the gaming media's opinion pieces "reviews". For GP games there is indeed a metric for success - increasing subscriptions. Which turns in revenue. The only circumstance in which subs do not rise when great is being released is a Game Pass system where the company is close to fully saturated with customers in a subscription. However, in that case as the theory goes you spend aplenty in all kind of games - from shady live service cash cows and customer offending agitprop crap in purple colours to robust and entertaining single player games. And keep a solid level of profitability. Ignoring the simply innocuous but mid games MGS has released primarily of the second kind.
    • Report: Microsoft to use AWS to help GitHub deal with a major surge in demand by Pradeep Viswanathan Thanks to the surge of coding AI agents, GitHub's usage has skyrocketed over the past 12 months. To meet this demand, GitHub started with a plan in October 2025 to increase capacity by 10x. However, by early this year, the company realized that it needed 30x scale. This rapid growth has caused severe strain on the platform's reliability, resulting in several small outages over the past few months. In April, GitHub published a long blog post explaining the steps it is taking to resolve these reliability issues. In the post, the company also confirmed that it is working toward a multi-cloud architecture for better resilience. Today, Business Insider reported that GitHub is turning to Amazon Web Services to help deal with a major surge in AI-driven coding activity. It is important to note that GitHub is still in the process of moving completely to the Azure cloud. The current plan is to move the platform fully to Azure by 2027 so that it can scale better as per developer demand. Therefore, the current decision to utilize AWS might be part of a short-term plan to meet immediate demand. A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed that GitHub is using multiple cloud providers with the following statement: For Microsoft, the decision highlights the operational pressure behind the AI boom. GitHub has to stay reliable for developers at a time when rivals such as Codex, Cursor, Claude Code, and other AI coding tools are gaining attention. And the decision to use AWS for computing capacity seems practical given the circumstances.
