I think it's safe to say that it won't reach 1,000,000 likes by the 17th. Oh well, at least they offered us a chance to see it early.

Probably. I think they should have launched that Facebook challenge after the Fault Line 2 or 3 trailer was released. Doing this a week before the trailer is supposed to come out anyway- that's a really ambitious challenge.

Amazing footage! I'm so glad that DICE is making this a PC game first.

DICE: Using PC as BF3 lead platform is ?helping us make a better console game?

Battlefield 3 executive producer Patrick Bach is of the belief that consoles are holding development of PC games back, due to what he feels is an outdated focus by other developers.

Speaking in an interview over on Nvidia?s GeForce website, Bach believes using consoles as the lead platform in development is the ?biggest problem we have today.?

?Most games are actually still based on the same core idea that the consoles are your focus, the superior platform or something,? he said. ?I don?t know why. That was the truth five years ago, but the world has moved on. PCs are way more powerful than the consoles today and there are actually almost zero games out there that actually use the benefits of this.

?So for our target of what we want to hit, we are now using the more powerful platform to try and prove what we see gaming being in the future rather than using the lowest common denominator, instead of developing it for the consoles and then just adding higher resolution textures and anti-aliasing for the PC version. We?re doing it the other way around, we start with the highest-end technology that we can come up with and then scale it back to the consoles.?

Bach said that by using PC as Battlefield 3?s lead platform, console versions of the game will look better as well.

Wish more developers felt that way. Hell, it's really not even about feelings -- it's about facts. The PC as a platform is far more powerful than consoles now. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see where you should lead your development (this is coming from someone who primarily does most of his gaming on the 360 for the past few years).

I wish they would release details on the hardware running the trailers, there was a rumor a while back claiming that it was on a GTX580 but I'm not sure on the validity of it.

Why would it even matter? Anytime you see trailers like this, they're ran on top of the line computers. There's no reason to promote your game with inferior graphics. Furthermore, they're still fairly early in development, so it's still not going to be very well optimized.

GTX 580 SLi

Nowhere on that does it say GTX580 SLI apart from in the original posters signature, which means nothing because he's not an employee at DICE or anything...

That game is beautiful! If it can look anywhere near that good on the Xbox 360 or PS3 then it's really going to make Activision feel the pressure. I certainly hope it delivers, but I have faith in DICE's ability to make a brilliant game.

    • After enabling it in about:config, customize, density, compact; the toolbar/address bar gets smaller vertically. I enabled Nova, I notice the tab bar/title bar is a bit larger vertically now? Everything always becomes a waste of space.
