Microsoft today announced what it has in store for Xbox Live Gold members next month as free games. The April Games with Gold follow the usual two Xbox One and two Xbox 360 titles formula. And also as expected, thanks to Microsoft's Backward Compatibility program, the Xbox 360 games will also be fully playable on Xbox One systems.
Here are the free games and their unlocking times for the month of April:
The Technomancer (Xbox One: April 1 - 30)
The Technomancer takes you to Mars, where you live as a mage-warrior. You’re capable of harnessing destructive electrical powers amplified by cybernetic implants. Feared and respected by all, you are on the verge of completing your initiation rite to become a fully-fledged Technomancer.
Outcast - Second Contact (Xbox One: April 16 - May 15)
Outcast – Second Contact is the complete remake of the cult title Outcast, the first 3D open-world game in video game history and pioneer in the modern action-adventure genre.
Star Wars Battlefront II (Xbox 360, Xbox One: April 1 - 15)
Fight on the front lines where every weapon and vehicle is yours. And now for the first time, Star Wars Battlefront II lets you... Fight as a Jedi - Earn the ability to wield a lightsaber and use Force powers like Yoda, Darth Vader and many other Heroes and Villains.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 (Xbox 360, Xbox One: April 16 - 30)
You are the Soldier of the Future 2.0. All systems have been upgraded to give you more power and control on the battlefield. Lead your team of elite Special Forces for the first time on US soil. You are the last line of defense and must do what it takes to be victorious.
Interestingly, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 just joined the Xbox One Backward Compatibility program. WIthout using the upcoming Games with Gold offer, the game would cost $19.99 to purchase.
Due to this being a rather early announcement than usual, there's still plenty of time left to grab the remaining March Games with Gold for anyone who's yet to do so. Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion for the Xbox One as well as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for Xbox 360 are available to claim for Xbox Live Gold members until the end of the month.
Beyond that, Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 is slated to keep its free slot until Outcast - Second Contact takes its place on April 16.
