First version of BitTorrent Sync released for Windows Phone 8

BitTorrent is more than a way to share files on the Internet; it also offers PC users a chance to sync up their home files remotely on mobile devices. Today, the company released the latest version of its BitTorrent Sync application, which include a port specifically for Windows Phone 8 users.

As posted on the BitTorrent blog, the Windows Phone app allows users to sync up files on their PC without the need to connect to a third party cloud service. It can automatically back up pictures from a Windows Phone Camera Roll to your home PC remotely. BitTorrent says that the files are encrypted and protected by secure keys, which also allows any trusted friends to access those home PC files with their own sync app. Finally, the company promises there are no limits in terms of file sizes.

If you are a Windows Phone owner with a home PC who doesn't feel comfortable with sharing certain files and folders with a cloud service, this new free app should be something to check out. It's also available for Android and iOS devices; BitTorrent has a full change log of what's been updated for the new 1.3 version.
