Halo Wars 2 won't be getting a physical PC release in the US

With a week to go before the release of Halo Wars 2, news is reaching the masses of Microsoft's cancellation of the physical PC release for those in the US. The EU will still see a physical release.

In the blink of an eye, Halo Wars 2 will be arriving on consoles and PC next week. While those with an Xbox One in the US will be able to stroll into a retail location to pick up the title, PC users might be a bit miffed on release day.

According to the Halo Waypoint, Microsoft has decided not to release a physical version of the game for the US. Instead, users will be required to download the title from the Windows Store. Luckily, those in Europe will be happy to know that the game will still be released in its physical form.

"Our retail plans have shifted and Microsoft has made the decision to focus the release of the physical retail version to Europe only. THQ Nordic is a great partner and they are working with us to ensure this transition remains smooth for our customers." - 343 Industries

If you have yet to experience the title in any form, you might want to start by getting familiar with the documentary and soundtrack. 343 Industries will also be holding a live stream shortly before the release of the game with exclusive interviews and prizes. he title will arrive on the Xbox One and PC starting February 21. Those that have yet to pick up an Xbox One and are thinking about purchasing the game might want to consider the Halo Wars 2 console bundle.
