Injustice 2 announced, coming to consoles in 2017

Based on the hit DC Comics graphic novel series of the same name, Injustice: Gods Among Us was released on consoles and smartphones to critical acclaim back in 2013. It was lauded by critics and fans alike for its intense story mode, gameplay mechanics and the considerably large playable roster of popular DC characters including Batman, Superman, Flash, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Joker, Nightwing, Harley Quinn, Killer Frost, Wonder Woman, among others. Now, NetherRealm Studios, the development team behind the popular game has announced that the title will receive a sequel named Injustice 2 which will be released in 2017.

The trailer shows off a few new characters and suits including Supergirl and what appears to be the prototype Batman suit from Batman Beyond. It also showcases several other major DC characters engaging in ruthless combat including Batman, Superman, Flash and Aquaman.

The description of the game available on Injustice 2's official website is as follows:

Power up and build the ultimate version of your favorite DC legends in INJUSTICE 2. With a massive selection of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains, INJUSTICE 2 allows you to equip every iconic character with unique and powerful gear earned throughout the game. Experience an unprecedented level of control over how your favorite characters look, how they fight, and how they develop across a huge variety of game modes. This is your super Hero. Your Journey. Your Injustice.

Injustice 2 will be arriving on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2017, however, a release window for a PC version of the game, if any, has not yet been announced. We are likely to learn more about the game at E3 2016, which takes place in Los Angeles next week.
