Journey Steam release slated for June 11, ending Epic Store exclusivity

During Epic Games' vast venture last year to secure exclusive games, Journey was announced as an exclusive to the Epic Games Store. The PC port publisher Annapurna Interactive today revealed when will the exclusive period of the title end and arrive to the Steam platform, that being on June 11, almost exactly a year after the original release on PC.

The award-winning thatgamecompany-developed title was originally a Sony console exclusive, landing on PlayStation 3 in 2012 and then on PlayStation 4 in 2015. Here's the description displayed on its store page:

Explore the ancient, mysterious world of Journey as you soar above ruins and glide across sands to discover its secrets. Play alone or in the company of a fellow traveler and explore its vast world together. Featuring stunning visuals and a Grammy-nominated musical score, Journey delivers a breathtaking experience like no other.

Also, here are the minimum requirements needed to play the game smoothly:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-2120 | AMD FX-4350
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Nvidia GTS 450 | AMD Radeon HD 5750
  • Storage: 4 GB available space

The Journey Steam store page is already up and running, and Annapurna is encouraging fans to wishlist it to keep track of the title as it builds up towards the launch on the platform. The price isn't listed yet, but it's safe to assume it will be the same as the current Epic Games Store listing, $14.99.

Quite a number of Epic Games Store exclusives have begun landing on Steam as their contracts from last year begin concluding. Some recent arrivals include Borderlands 3, Metro Exodus, and Hades, among others. As the year progresses, that number should start growing quite fast.
