LG's HF80JA laser projector offers 20,000 hours of lamp life and 2,000 lumens of brightness

Although projectors offer the benefit of creating an enormous picture, the downsides are that the image is not usually as bright as its TV counterparts, and the bulbs inside require a replacement every couple thousand hours. LG has now released its latest projector, powered by a laser that will yield up to 20,000 hours of life and produce an image with a brightness up to 2,000 lumens.

The HF80JA is a smart home projector that comes in a compact size and offers a wealth of features. As mentioned previously, the unit doesn't use a traditional bulb, but instead relies on a laser that can generate up to 20,000 hours of output. The product runs webOS, which enables the device to run apps - giving it access to Netflix, Hulu Plus, and other streaming services. Although a 4K image would have been nice, the projector has a resolution of 1080p with a contrast ratio of 150,000:1. Lastly, the projector does offer a variety of ports like HDMI, USB, 3.5mm headphone jack, and even an Ethernet port. Those that want to keep things wireless will be happy to know that the unit does content syncing over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

The HF80JA is now available from a wide variety of retailers including B&H Photo Video, Newegg, Fry's Electronics, and more. The projector will run you $1,499.99.
