Microsoft is bringing DVR functionality to the Xbox One, stream to any Windows 10 device

Microsoft has announced today at Gamescom that the Xbox One will soon be able to act as a DVR and that you can stream the content to any Windows 10 device. The DVR will work with over the air content and is coming in 2016.

The feature, which will be free, will allow you to record content and then stream it to any device that is running Windows 10. This functionality shows the power of Microsoft's rapidly expanding ecosystem with Windows 10 and how they plan to leverage all of their core assets to drive better consumer experiences.

While the TV functionality was not universally praised at launch, as many feel Microsoft overplayed its initial value, as a secondary feature to the gaming platform, it does offer quite a bit of convenience and opens the door to cord cutters who are looking for a simple solution to DVR over the air content.

Microsoft says that this functionality will arrive in 2016 but did not give a specific date for its release.
