Earlier this year during CES, Nvidia revealed that it is working on a native app for Steam Deck users, finally letting them ditch the browser method when streaming games over the platform. Months later, the app is now ready for its open beta stage, and Nvidia is inviting everyone to try it out. Alongside it, six more games have been added to the supported list of the platform this week too.
Those jumping in with a Steam Deck app can stream their games at up to 4K 60FPS, depending on their subscription tier, either on the device itself or by connecting it to a TV. As with other devices, Nvidia's HDR10, DLSS 4, and Reflex technologies are available on supported games too.
"Plus, members can run these games at settings and performance levels that aren’t possible natively on the Steam Deck," adds the company. "To top it off, Steam Deck users can enjoy up to 50% longer battery life when streaming from an RTX gaming rig in the cloud."
Grab the beta app from Nvidia's GeForce NOW download portal here, with the Steam Deck being found in the Gaming Handheld Devices category.
Next, here are the games the GeForce NOW supported list has gained this week:
- Nice Day for Fishing (New release on Steam, May 29)
- Cash Cleaner Simulator (Steam)
- Tokyo Xtreme Racer (Steam)
- The Last Spell (Steam)
- Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon (Steam)
- Torque Drift 2 (Epic Games Store)
Don't forget that the GeForce NOW 40% off sale is still active too, with Nvidia cutting the price of the Performance membership until July.
As always, keep in mind that, unlike subscription services like Game Pass, a copy of a game must be owned by the GeForce NOW member (or at least have a license via PC Game Pass) to start playing via Nvidia's cloud servers.
