Apple has long made a habit of introducing new colors with each iPhone generation. The latest iPhone 17 Pro series debuted in Cosmic Orange, while the iPhone 16 base models featured Ultramarine. This long-standing trend appears set to continue, as Apple is expected to introduce a new color option for the iPhone 18 Pro series.
Cosmic Orange helped the iPhone 17 Pro stand out from the crowd, making it instantly recognizable. Now, Chinese leaker Ice Universe claims that Apple is experimenting with at least four color options for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, including an all-new wine red, alongside black, silver, and blue.
That said, Ice Universe’s information is reportedly based on camera lens protector plates produced by an accessory manufacturer. With the iPhone 18 series still months away from its official debut, Apple could revise its plans.
Meanwhile, a new report from Macworld echoes similar claims regarding the iPhone 18 Pro’s color lineup. According to the outlet, Apple is testing a so-called “Dark Cherry” finish for both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. With the introduction of this new flagship color, Cosmic Orange is expected to be phased out of the lineup.
Macworld also suggests that Light Blue and a darker shade of gray are among the other colors being considered. The reported Pantone color codes for the next-generation iPhone include:
- Light Blue (Pantone 2121)
- Dark Cherry (Pantone 6076)
- Dark Gray (Pantone 426C)
- Silver (Pantone 427C)
Dark Cherry may not be as vivid or eye-catching as Cosmic Orange, as it leans more toward a muted tone. However, it should still be distinctive enough to set the iPhone 18 Pro apart from its rivals.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are expected to launch in September this year, alongside Apple’s first foldable iPhone.
