Samsung unveils new mid-range Galaxy C5

With the competition offering quality mid-range smartphones , Samsung has unveiled its own contender, offering a new addition to its Galaxy-line, the Galaxy C5.

The handset has a design that is reminiscent of the current flagship, the S7, but ditches the glass rear in favor of metal and offers a more rounded design. Although looks are an important part of a handset, the internals are what can make or break a device. Luckily, the C5 offers plenty of bang for buck, with its robust set of specifications that include:

  • 5.2-inch S-AMOLED 1080p display
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor
  • 4GB RAM
  • 16MP rear and 8MP front-facing camera with an aperture of f/1.9

The handset will be available in a 32GB or 64GB variant with expandable storage via a microSD slot. Although mid-range, the C5 will also boast a fingerprint reader and NFC for mobile payment, and be powered by a 2600mAh battery. Unfortunately, the handset is currently only available in China, with a release scheduled for June 6th. Those in China can pre-order the handset that will start at ¥2199 ~ $334 USD for the 32GB model and ¥2399 ~ $365 USD for the 64GB.
