Character limit RSS
After announcing the new features back in May, Twitter has finally announced the rollout of its new character limits, which are that media attachments and Quote Tweets won't count toward them.
Twitter will no longer count @names or media attachments as part of the 140-character limit; the '.@' requirement to reach all followers will be dropped; and users will be able to retweet themselves.
As part of a move to make its platform more user-friendly and increase engagement, Twitter may soon stop counting photos and links towards the 140-character limit for tweets.
Sina Weibo, the Chinese alternative for Twitter, has announced that it is raising the limit for messages on its social network from 140 characters to a rumored maximum of 2000 characters.
Twitter is making another change to its social network and it's dropping the character limit on direct messages. Coupled with other recent changes, the company hopes this will help its users.
