Twitter updates its Xbox One app, bringing a range of new features

Twitter has announced the rollout of a new update for its Xbox One app, bringing some welcome improvements and additions for console owners. The update bumps up the version number to 1.8.0.6, and includes these new features:

  • Multiple-timeline viewing: When you log in and are watching videos, you’ll see your timeline as well as a wide range of perspectives and commentary from a variety of accounts.
  • Picture in picture: Ready to multi-task? Watch two side-by-side live videos—and even toggle between them—so you never miss a thing.
  • Global live video selection: Buenos Aires? Calcutta? Honolulu? Click anywhere on our spinning globe to watch live video from that location.

The ability to log into the app on the console is a big improvement, and should help users feel a bit less 'disconnected' from the experience, compared with previous versions, which would only display top tweets, and other content related to live events. The other additions to the app will be more useful to some users than others, but hey, it's nice to see new features being introduced.
