Vivaldi Technologies today released the latest feature update for its browser. Version 5.2 is now available in the stable channel with various improvements, capabilities, and enhanced privacy.

What is new in Vivaldi 5.2

Improved Reading List with sync

Vivaldi introduced the Reading List feature in February with version 5.1. In the latest release, developers made Reading List more capable and convenient. Users can now access saved pages from their lists in a dedicated side panel alongside bookmarks, downloads, history, notes, and web panels. Besides storing articles for later, Reading List in Vivaldi lets you mark pages as read/unread, search, filter, sort, and organize.

Another noteworthy change in version 5.2 is Reading List sync. You can sign in with a Vivaldi account and get saved pages across all your devices. Vivaldi is currently available on Windows, macOS, Android, and Chromebooks.

Privacy Statistics

In addition to offering a robust and heavily-customizable browser, Vivaldi focuses on improving privacy. Version 5.2 provides users with new statistics on trackers and ads. The new tab page now shows how many trackers and ads the browser have blocked.

Privacy Statistics will show you the collective tracking information of all the trackers and ads on websites you visited, plus per-website and per-tracker breakdowns.

Translation Pane on Android

Vivaldi Translate, powered by Lingvanex, now provides advanced translation capabilities for Android and Chromebook users. Vivaldi 5.2 adds the ability to select any text for translation on any web page, see the original and translated text side-by-side, and change the source and target languages.

Other improvements and changes

  • Qwant, a privacy-focused search engine, is now available in the list of default search engines in settings.
  • Optimizations for improved and faster tab dragging.
  • Various enhancements for Vivaldi Mail, Calendar, and Feed Reader.

You can download Vivaldi from the official website. The browser is also available on Android and Chromebooks from the Google Play Store.
