Windbound is free to claim on the Epic Games Store this week

Windbound Epic Games Store free game

Epic Games Store's game giveaway slot was refreshed right on schedule today, with Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair's spot being taken by Windbound. The newest freebie is free to claim for a week as always.

Developed by 5 Lives Studios, Windbound arrives as a survival game set on a mysterious island chain. You will be scavenging off the land, fighting foes, crafting tools, and constructing a raft to travel between the lands available. The islands hide a story of their own, encouraging exploration.

Here's how the studio describes the setting:

As Kara, you are a warrior, caught at sea in a fierce storm, adrift from your tribe. Thrown from your boat, at the mercy of the turbulent waters, you are tossed on to the shores of the Forbidden Islands, a mysterious paradise. With no boat, no food or tools, just the will and skill to survive, uncover this beautiful island’s rich resources. Craft tools and weapons to hunt and defend yourself against nature itself with its wild and fantastical creatures.

Typically, Windbound costs $29.99 to pick up on PC. Here are the minimum requirements for this 2020-released title:

  • OS: Windows 10/7/8/8.1/Vista (64 bit)
  • Processor: 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent
  • Memory: 4 GB RAM
  • Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 4600, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 630, Radeon HD 5670
  • Storage: 4 GB available space

Windbound's free claiming period will come to an end next Thursday, February 17. Waiting for us then is a copy of Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, which will next take up the weekly freebie slot's place.
