A few years ago, Microsoft announced Windows 365 Boot, a way for workers to log in to a Cloud PC and configure it as their primary experience on that particular machine, which streamlines the overall authentication flow. The service hit general availability in September 2023, and Microsoft has since been adding new features on a regular basis. Now, the company has announced the general availability of a bunch of capabilities for Windows 365 Boot.
Workers leveraging Windows 365 Boot can now directly access the Connection Center, which allows people with access to multiple Cloud PCs to choose which one they want to boot into, while also managing other configurations. The service also supports better troubleshooting capabilities now, through an error flow which takes customers to the Connection Center after they hit Cancel on an error message. The Cloud PC can be troubleshooted here, so that it can be recovered from its error state quickly. Microsoft has also improved the "connection logic" such that there are fewer delays and errors overall.

Another enhancement for Windows 365 Boot is Cross Region Disaster Recovery, which enables customers to connect to their Cloud PC from any region. The idea is that if a Cloud PC in one region fails, you can connect to a backup PC in another region as a failover mechanism. However, this requires manual configuration and a dedicated license. Finally, users can also customize their display settings through the Settings app on a Windows 365 Boot machine.
It is important to keep in mind that Windows 365 Boot is primarily meant for enterprise customers that requires Windows 11 Pro or Enterprise endpoints, a Windows 365 license, and administrator rights for Microsoft Intune. The Redmond tech firm has begun rolling out the aforementioned capabilities for customers, with full availability expected to complete within the next two months.
