Hello All Been thinking of replacing my rear exhaust fan lately with a Noctua model, this model to be exact Noctua NF-F12 PWM chromax.black.swap, Premium Quiet Fan, 4-Pin (120mm, Black), and Then maybe if can afford it replacing Front Intake Fans with 2 140MM fans, and maybe moving one of the 120mms to top of the case as additonal exhaust, Good Plan? Bad Plan? Noctua rear exhaust fan would connect to Motherboard Sys_fan 2 probably plug, ((be only fan on Motherboard fan connection, rest run off Thermtaltakes Fan Controller/RGB Controller currently, including current exhaust fan that i don't feel much exhausting at times. …

Work Monitors for Home Office 1 2

I am a software engineer so I spend most of my time on my computer for work. With working remote, I've starting putting together a home office. I use a MBP 16", and would like a dual monitor setup for working. These do not need to be gaming displays. Mostly what I would like is something that is 1440p or higher, but I'm not sure what screen sizes are optimal for each resolution. I see a lot of decently priced 27" 1440p monitors, but I'm not used to having monitors larger than 24" so I feel the extra space might be wasted on me. Also with the larger screen, I'm not sure the bump from 1080p to 1440p will really feel tangible. So suffice to say, I want a monitor which …

I am looking at either: https://smile.amazon.com/ASUS-Gaming-Curved-Monitor-VG24VQE/dp/B07TNM8L6S/ref=pd_ybh_a_1?_encoding=UTF8&refRID=7VJVJVGPYC2XE4T5ZR02&th=1 or https://smile.amazon.com/VG248QG-G-Sync-Compatible-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B07TNM8L6S/ref=pd_ybh_a_2?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=44EA8PR6EQVDABBSG5C5 From what I can tell, they are very similar, but I need someone to tell me what the differences are.

Samsung Odyssey G7 and font smoothing
by patseguin- 1 follower

I recently bought a Samsung Odyssey G7 monitor and I've been loving it. What I find odd is that when I plugged it in and started using, it was using the native resolution and everything, but all the fonts on screen looked jagged like font smoothing was turned off. Really looked pretty bad. I looked around the Windows 10 settings because I haven't had to look at font smoothing for a long time. I couldn't really figure anything out. I switched Windows to HDR mode and then the quality got better obviously, but all the fonts got smoothed like they should. Is this some kind of quirk when you use an HDR monitor with HDR not enabled? I'm assuming there's no reason to not run Win…

Good aftermarket CPU cooler

My wife's system is a Ryzen 5, and is running with the stock CPU cooler, and it is not enough to keep the system cool, I have been monitoring the temps and the CPU at idle is around 65-76C and under load it peaked at over 90C, I don't think there is enough room to water cool the system, so I would like to change the cooler out. It has been a while since I have looked for an air cooler, what are some of the good ones to look at?

Issue with my Dymo LabelWriter
by jnelsoninjax- 1 follower

So yesterday I swapped the labels out of my Dymo LabelWriter 450 from clear to white. These are brand new labels, not opened until I spooled them in the printer. Now when I print a label it spits out a blank label, nothing on it. I can not figure out why it is doing that and have never had that problem before. Standard troubleshooting: driver is as current as I can find, using Dtmo branded labels, using the latest version of the software as well. I am at a loss here as to what else to attempt to do.

Hi guys, I'm coming with a request in order to find out the proper solution in connecting my single monitor to the pc & work laptop. The ideea is as attached : - monitor can support hdmi/display port. - pc also - laptop by using the docking station. After work I also have some tasks to cover on my pc and I don't want anymore to switch manually display-port cable from docking-to-pc. Connected pc with DP and docking with HDMI. Faulty Acer Monitor

Recently my Acer monitor model ED323QUR monitor stopped working. It happened while I was using it, the display just faded to black over a couple of seconds. The back light still works, and the monitor powers on, but no display, not even anything from the OSD/power up display (usually get the Acer logo for a second or two). I managed to source a second hand control board from Ebay, which apparently came from a working monitor with a cracked LCD. Same results. The power board is supplying 12v as expected. I have a second monitor plugged into the graphics card and that working just fine, so because of that and not getting any OSD I don't think it's an…

Reccommendations for External HD Case
by Pootis Spencer- 1 follower

I have bought two Seagate external hard drives over the past couple of years (1x 4TB and 1x 5TB) and the connection cable connection to the case has a weird shaped port. Over time both have loosened and its causing the hd's to disconnect easily. Can anyone recommend a good quality external case to accommodate these drives? I have seen a Sabrent case that has a usb connection both ends on the cable but I'm not sure if it will hold a 4tb 2.5 drive. Most cases will only hold 2tb and less drives as they are not so deep in size. Thanks

GPU fans spin for 2 seconds and then stop

I just finished building my first PC and finally got it to boot up successfully and was excited. I was getting a little ahead of myself, and instead of going slow and just updating windows, which I got a pop up saying I needed to update, I decided to install the amd drivers. I know not a great plan, but it actually gets worse from there. When either the amd drivers or the windows update shut down my pc to restart it, I waited for a second , and after a minute or so I decided to restart my PC hoping it would just boot back up. Massive error on my part. When the PC booted back up, everything seemed normal except for the GPU which spun for one second and then stopped and nev…

This is my current computer that I purchased back in 2014- https://www.cnet.com/products/dell-inspiron-3847-core-i5-4460-3-2-ghz-8-gb-1-tb-led-18-5/ I was thinking of upgrading and buying this PC for $900- https://www.bestbuy.com/site/dell-inspiron-3880-desktop-intel-core-i7-10700-12gb-memory-512gb-ssd-ethernet-wifi-bluetooth-keyboard-mouse-black/6423484.p?skuId=6423484 I would assume with the better processor, higher RAM and moving from HDD to SSD, the performance would be night and day. But before I spend $900, I want to be 100% sure that is the case. Will the performance upgrade be significant? I many use my computer for Mi…

Logitech G910 keyboard strange issue
by jnelsoninjax- 6 replies
- 2.3k views
For some unknown reason, my G910 has developed an issue where it randomly double types a letter when I am typing. The letter 'I' seems be one of its favorites, but I have noticed it with other letters as well. Steps I have taken already: 1) Adjusted the repeat rate in the keyboard control panel to very slow, as well as Repeat delay to Long 2) checked for updates for the control software (Logitech G-Hub) 3) Cleaned the keyboard with compressed air I am not sure if the problem is the keyboard or if it might be something within Windows. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I got an old Dell Otiplex 3020M Ultra Small Form Factor (or Micro...dunno what it is). It's from 2015 and has a Display Port and VGA video outputs. Turns out the VGA port is damaged, when displaying on the monitor connected through the VGA it's mostly RED color. Sometimes a bit yellow. So if it's RED means the B and G are not working and if wiggle it a bit, the yelllow would mean the B is bad. I sent the unit to a friend who has experience with electric circuits and if he could solder a new VGA pin I bought at a local shop. But he told me , the pins and motherboards are very thin and he could damage the motherboard. So I'm stuck with a not-so bad machine (i5 …

I currently have a 2016 Acer Aspire e17 with a core i5 7200U and Geforce 940MX. I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means but do like to play something every so often. This computer is starting to act up and show its age. What I am wondering is how does the current generation Ryzen APU graphics compare performance wise to a Geforce 940MX. I'm thinking of getting a laptop with a ryzen 5 4500u or ryzen 7 4700U. I play most of my games at 720p. I mainly play Minecraft, BeamNG Drive, GTA V, 7 days to die, Teardown. I can currently play all these at very low settings at 720p or higher on the 940MX. I feel like I'm being held back in the CPU department in most cases. …

Hi all, nice to see everything is going well here. I have a short and probably easy question for mx owners.. As you know you have the option to switch from one device-to-another by simply clicking that special button (below). The ideea is nice but I want it this way : 1 - PC 2 - Laptop 3 - Ipad Right now.. Ipad -1 ; Laptop - 2 and PC -3 . How can I change the mapping? Haven't found anything in their software. Thanks a lot.

Asus ROG Chakram; battery percentage is fluctuating too much in Armoury Crate software
by kiddingguy- 2 replies
- 2.7k views
In January I bought an Asus ROG Chakram mouse (so not even 1,5 months old) When I charge it via USB on my computer, I notice that the battery percentage is going up and down, and down and up. In 30 mins percentages are reached from 0% to 100% and back (see image, with steps/time aspects). I don't think this/should be normal behavior? Is this 'bug' software related (USB-connected via Asus Armoury Crate); is there some display bug, or does this piece of software not function well - or has issues with displaying/reading the right amount of percentage? Or is my mouse somehow defect? I have updated the mouse/Armoury Crate to their …

My old 3770K system died and I am re-building it as a 10700K system. As I can't afford to do an entirely new build, I am going to be re-using most of the parts from said 3770K (In fact, the only reason I am not going with my original plans of a 9700K is because I managed to get both the CPU and RAM quite a bit cheaper open-box at MicroCenter). The case, the drives (yes I know, there are a lot of them), the additional cards I had in it, the fans, the GPU, and just about everything else will be re-used. (Was going to re-use the PSU too, until a PSU tester said that while all it's voltages are good, the PG response is out of spec, I also realized it's a year out …

HDMI: is there a compatibility issue?
by dekess- 2 replies
- 1.6k views
I bought a HDMI cable to use in my PC. As soon as I got home and plugged it in, it worked perfectly. The only problem is that the cable was too short. The next day I went to the store and exchanged it for a longer cable. Surprisingly, the monitor only says "no sign". This is not a issue with my GPU, since I tried plugging the cable into the Mother Board (MOBO) as well. There remains only two possibilities, I think: either the cable itself is damaged, or my monitor somehow is not compatible with the cable model. I'm thinking of the later case due to the fact that the original cable that worked is from a different brand. What possibility is more like…

So my daughters PC has started hanging at the BIOS splash screen. It started yesterday when she was trying to get into the BIOS to enable the on-board graphics to try and use it for dual monitors. She says she pressed DEL as the PC was booting up, and it just hung. Since then it refuses to boot, hanging at the splash screen for a few minutes then it just goes blank. She's left it like that overnight and nothing changes. It's a Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H rev 1.0 motherboard, not sure which BIOS version it is, but as this was my old motherboard it should be the most recent version and I don't think there has been any updates on this old mobo for a while. The CPU is an …
