The loading screen gets annoying fast. I mean I reload every time I loose gwent and it takes two minutes vs dying takes 30 seconds.

Definitely agree. Having to hear the same talk-over gets old. Same with Geralt talking to Roach; ugh!

Really love the game, though, cannot stop playing (or wanting to play, given my limited time). Have my PC hooked up to my 55" when the kids go to sleep...sooooo good! Looking forward to progressing and even seeing what DLC comes forth.

the game is so much better if you switch off the overly dramatic music.

when you play there are many ambient sounds, and you will not miss the music one bit. (you can always switch it on for cut scenes, if you need.

after playing without it for a few hours, and switching it back on, i realized just how annoying it is when there is no action.  much more natural without it!

The first thing I do in every game I play is tune the audio. Voice and Sound Effects get turned all the way up. Music gets halved or turned-off completely depending on the game.

Finished the game on death march earlier, going to go back and wrap up the last few contracts and tidy up for the last few trophies i need for the platinum. Great game.

Dude, how the blazes do you platinum everything so quickly? lol. Mad skills.

Yeah thought it was a nice touch myself at first but it does get old fast.  Would have made more sense to customise it to first load (eg when you first enter the game and hit continue/load) and disable it for subsequent loads, although that could create inconsistency, maybe just disable it for loads to the same area/timeframe from where the player.

Anyway, tapping spacebar like you're play some old arcade game cuts those shorts and speeds it up.

Apparently the 1.0.4 patch introduced a bug where you stop getting exp for certain quests. They've said they have a fix in the works and it will be in a patch released next Monday.

It's not only quests that you're 6 levels above. My character was level 13 and I wasn't getting experience for level 9-10 main story quests. Which are the worst ones to miss out on exp from because they tend to give the most experience. I didn't realize that is what was going else I would have stopped playing until the fix was out.

Unfortunately if you are affected by the bug you won't be able to get back exp that you missed due to the bug.

To add a bit more to this pc players can get their missing exp back by using the command console which requires a mod to enable:

http://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/28/?

Use any of these codes will work:

setlevel(#) Sets your player level ex:setlevel(15)

levelup Advance player level by 1

addexp(#)Adds specified amount of experience points ex: addexp(25000)

Console players will not be able to do this though. Sorry. Although I'm not even sure if this bug is affecting the console versions but I think it most likely is. It Is affecting the console versions too.

I'll be doing this because just from main quests alone I missed about a level and a half of exp or so. And they're saying this won't affect you're game in the long run.. For now the game is not playable with this bug.

Edit 1: I think as compensation they should add an item to the game that rewards 500exp a shot. Maybe for 1000 gold like the respec potions. That way players can decide if they want to get their missing experience or not. Of course this might make getting certain achievements trivial but if people want to abuse it then they probably didn't care about the achievements anyways.

Edit 2: They are apparently going to try to give experience missed back retroactively. They're still not sure if it's possible to do that though.

Which ones?  The X1 just got 1.0.3 last I checked.

Do you mean which quests? CD red keeps saying it's only certain quests (they haven't said which ones) that aren't giving experience but that's not what the forums are reporting.

They keep saying it won't affect character progression very much but players have been reporting that it's not just experience from quests that you are higher level than but all quests that are not giving experience, even ones that are red in their journal.

Like for me personally, I wasn't getting experience for quests (pyres of novigrad chain) that I was only 1-2 levels above at the time. So either they (cdred) don'y fully understand the bug or are talking about something completely different.

As for the consoles, all I know is from reading that forum thread I posted earlier that console players are reporting the bug too. CDred said the fix for consoles would come later next week due to the stupid long console certification process.

Found a post on the projekt red forums regarding the missing key for the merchant, might speed up a response if a few people post in the thread, they replied to but that was nearly a week ago http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/38013-Person-in-distress-in-velen-no-key-bug/page4

Basically the bug is stopping me getting the platinum as it is preventing me from the final trophy for collecting all the gwent cards, the merchant trapped in the cage has the last two cards I need :-/

Just missing Level 35 and those last two Gwent cards (which are currently glitched and awaiting a patch) for the platinum now I'm level 32 on 1290/2000 xp meaning I need 4,710 to hit 35.

I don't seem to be getting any xp for finishing quests any more though as they are all rated below my level.

Apparently there is a cyclops somewhere in skellige that respawns nearly immediately after killing him meaning you can grind out about 8,000 xp an hour on him

The merchant in the cage in Velen ? I released him yesterday(XO)

sometimes I wonder if the designers of this game went out of their way to make the worst possible implementation of swimming and diving controls of any game in history.

Then I get to fights with "friendlies"... and realize they also coded them to solely be there to block you when you roll or dodge and to be in your way when you attack making battles harder...

And then there's the horse that can only ride on roads because apparently any little twig or small rise in the terrain is also a massive invisible wall that cause you to stop immediately and not be able to move in any direction...

it's a good thing the rest of the game is pretty good :)

    • It's interesting to hear that AI growth is not investor driven.
    • A few weeks ago, I had this same exact issue. Unfortunately, I didn't think of disabling the Secure Boot option in BIOS. I updated my BIOS to the latest version for my MB and it resolved the issue.
    • I have a partial answer, when I used a multi-port usb hub I had degraded speed performance with 3 large external hard drives connected. I managed to snag a nice (yet older) USB3 based wavelink docking station cheap / used that has x6 usb 3 ports and almost doubled the speed of the external hard drives transfer rate. This looks to be a slightly upgraded model -https://ebay.io/m/LZtjTy
    • Microsoft faces shareholder lawsuit over masking AI costs and slowing Azure growth by Karthik Mudaliar Microsoft is facing a class action lawsuit from shareholders who allege that the company intentionally overhyped its artificial intelligence initiatives to distract from slowing cloud revenue and an exploding infrastructure bill. The complaint was filed in a Seattle federal court by the Michigan-based City of St. Clair Shores Police and Fire Retirement System. The plaintiffs argue that Microsoft’s leadership painted an overly optimistic picture of its Copilot rollout and complex OpenAI partnership. They say that the company did this while downplaying the harsh reality that building the data centers required to power these next-generation tools requires a huge amount of capital. Back at the company's Q2 2026 earnings report from late January, Microsoft revealed that its flagship Azure cloud growth had slipped to 39% (down from 40% the prior quarter) and guided investors to expect a further deceleration to 37% or 38% for the first three months of 2026. Now, under normal circumstances, a slight percentage point drop in cloud growth is a minor operational hiccup. But the Redmond giant paired that guidance with $37.5 billion in quarterly capital expenditures. This figure, which is a 66% year-over-year surge, blew past any analyst estimates at that time. Much of this amount went into buying high-priced GPUs and custom silicon that were required to train and run large language models. This is why the market reacted violently and just a day after its earnings call on January 29, the company's stock plummeted 10%, and wiped out $357 billion of capital in just a trading session. Microsoft is doing better now, though. Its Q3 2026 results showed its run rate from its AI business was hitting $37 billion, proving that enterprise demand for its infrastructure is very real and continuing to scale. Microsoft isn't the only company pouring billions into infrastructure for the AI boom. We've seen most Big Tech companies, including Amazon and Google, also get the results of these investments with stronger-than-ever growth and increased income. via Reuters
