I enjoyed Enterprise, especially after the third season when it found its footing. The show felt more relatable.

Same here, the 4th season was awesome :)

If a TV show needs 3 seasons to start finding it's footing then something is wrong.   The fact it started to get good in season 4 wasn't going to help it stay on TV, the writing was on the wall.

That wouldn't be new to Star Trek. TNG and DS9 both found their footing about the same time, and they still got a full 7 seasons. Voyager was an oddity, though. I find very few episodes after it's third season any good. :p

I think TOS also found its footing after the third season... oh wait...

There's an argument to be made that there was nothing else on tv at the time, not action/scifi wise.  Back in the TNG days it was all sitcoms.   There was only TNG and X-files from what I remember, little else.

From what I've heard, the 1st season will be after VI but before TNG and that the series will be an anthology of 8 episodes per season in different time periods.

Kind of an exciting idea, but I can't see getting emotionally attached to any characters when they are only around for a few episodes.

With the production value of today's TV, they could really do this right and make a spectacular series.

This is true of course, but with Enterprise its a bit different. Don't forget Paramount interfered in the show from the start, so (at least to me) it was always their fault the show was running on half-impulse until S3 ended. (I loved S3 btw, some great episodes in there especially Twilight with Earth being blown up lol)

Ugh that promo just screams JJ Abrams-verse. :(

I don't think it'll be in the JJ-verse. Some sites are saying it's Post-Tos, Pre-TNG.

The plural makes it interesting, if they're going to be a number of mini-series with new crews each arc then I'm down.

It's also quite funny how after asking for a new tv show, and one coming, some "fans" still complain.  I guess it's time for you guys to move on then.

^ I do not watch anything on TV but sports and News and old Bogart movies..

It's just crazy how more and more people are not happy with anything, true fans should be happy they're getting any new trek at all in my opinion.    Paramount didn't have to make new movies, CBS doesn't have to make a new TV show either, they both could've just sat on the licenses like media companies do for lots of older shows/movies and not given a damn at all.   But they put millions into it, and I'm happy to get more.  If you don't like what they make then fine, don't watch is all you can do at this point.

You have a problem because all I watch is News and Sports? That is on you buddy not me. I am free to watch what I please. If you really want to know I used to watch NCIS until Ziva David left, now Tony Dinoso (sp) is gone.

The real reason is that TV can't seem to make anything new. They have to bring back old shows and screw them up. They would probably exhume Ed Sullivan if they could./s

As a Trek fan, I wished they didn't. JJ Abrams ruined an entire franchise in two short films.

If you say so, to Paramount, those two films made more than all the TNG movies combined.   To them, and others, it opened up trek to a new generation and people who weren't already deep into the mythos from TOS and up.   They're not going to stop because a group doesn't like the new style, from the looks of things any old fans they lose they get double that in newer ones who'll spend their money at the theater.

I mean hell, where was this large, vocal, passionate, fanbase when the last two TNG movies where left dying at the box office?   The studio really doesn't owe us anything, not after the slow, painful death of the TNG movie run.

Exactly. Just about every franchise out there has been rebooted. Some multiple times. Arguing over JJTrek is akin to fighting about which Linux distro is better. In the end, it's still Linux. Same with Trek. Who's to say this new series won't be another reboot, with more traditional story lines or a mixing of both. Either enjoy it, or live in the past with your favorite style of Trek.

And anyone arguing action over substance in the movies... that's basically all the TNG movies were, they crashed the Enterprise 2 times out of the 4 movies they had, one it was completely destroyed, one was clone of picard hell bent on taking him out, one the borg try to assimilate the world, etc... and there were no lessons or takes on humanity with those movies. Argument invalid.

JJTrek isn't even Trek. It's "Fast and Furious" with Captain Kirk and gang. There's no depth at all to the new franchise.

i hope it's true about the post tos movies setting, means we will finally get some actual trek sets and not lazy filmed in brewery type sets..still sucks that jj's trek movies have garbage sets but episode 7 got proper star wars sets.

so it's ok to ###### off star trek fans, but not star wars fans.

You're going to compare Disney to Paramount?    Sure they both make movies but they're nowhere close to the same size or have the same money.   The only studio out there that comes close to the size of Disney is Universal.
