Uxtheme installation under Windows XP/2003

Recommended Posts

Which files do i need to download for this version of windows xp :

version 5.1 (build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158:service pack 2)

i've probs over looked it but if someone could point me in the right direction with a couple of links etc would be really

helpfull.

Search for uxtheme.dll on C:\Windows (susposing you installed Windows on C:\). Delete ALL uxtheme.dll's apart from the one in C:\Windows\system32

Then rename C:\Windows\system32\uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.dll.old then copy in the new patched uxtheme.dll

Reboot, delete uxtheme.dll.old and you should be ok (Y)

larney: stop talking over my guide. remember what happened last time

@Geonetic: did you replace your file with the CORRECT new file? and put your themes in the appropiate folder?

Edited by insanekiwi

..again? instead of telling him to re-replace his uxtheme you should have helped him to get his themes working

that wasn't constructive at all.

edit: i know it's  mr.smart pants. it was just a typo. now crap off or i'll have your comments wiped out again.

Telling me to crap off isn't nice and isn't needed. Get over being on your high horse and understand your not the only person who knows about uxtheme.dll patching?

Geonetic, has already downloaded the file so he needs help making sure the patch has been completely properly. Well sorry Mr. Know It All for trying to help, you go ahead and have your thread as you want to be the know-it-all...my help will no longer be offered in here

You just don't like my method because it works. Thats why you added my method onto your main post wasn't it ?!?

oh yea. thanks alot for finally not "helping any longer"

i added your method because you spammed this thread with your method in every post before agentsmith cleanswiped it.

i made this guide and it works. if your method works too, fine. then make a guide too where i can post my comments and be greedy and annyoing too.

now let Geonetic reply in order so either me, you or we both can help him instead of argueing like mofos.

thanks.

ugh this is anoying now lol

i followed the guide and i still cant get my Visual styles to work

any ideas on what i can try next ?

He replied. I answered. Where's the problem? I was helping him? I don't see your logic? I didn't spam this thread, you just wouldn't let other help like you are doing now. Whats your problem with me attempting to help this guy, god ?!?

I'm not trying to argue with you just trying to help him as he DID reply...

Oh btw, It was Mr. Magoo...

Which one of you is going to help me first :p lol only kidding.

I have Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158 : Service Pack 2)

I saw on the page before this someone with the same build as mine, and you gave him a link and said look for sp2_rtm but there is no Sp2_rtm build on the link you specified... :( Your guide is so good and I really wish to take advantage of it lol (Sucking up)

now now larney and insanekiwi cant we just all get along ;)

    • NVIDIA officially supports Ubuntu, as linked above with the GeForce NOW Hands on I did in collaboration with Paul Hill.
    • TO be clear I am not running linux today, however I keep thinking about it. And I want to make sure there are minimal obstacles if I decide to make that switch in the coming months.
    • Yes, I actually glossed over the Linux part from the OP. You could always go for a 9070 XT and if you really want to play Ray Traced games in the future, GeForce Now is pretty damn good on Linux https://www.neowin.net/news/nvidias-native-geforce-now-app-for-linux-bridges-the-gaming-gap-hands-on/
