Rerolled my DK from Undead to Orc...so far, liking the Orc more than I thought I would.

As for which is better between Blood and Unholy...depends on what your intended role is and your play style, really. Kinda nice finally having a class where I'm not feeling nit-picked into a certain build spec.

I know what you mean. I loved playing my pally as ret but everybody I talked to said I had to switch once I hit (or before) 70 since ret (at that time) wasn't a good class for end-game content. Now that's been fixed obviously, but it definitely sucked until 3.0.

I haven't tried anything but blood, so I can't really compare, but blood does massive DPS and also has quite a few useful healing skills as well. I rarely go under 80% health while fighting multiple mobs simply because my combat heals me. I can mark a certain mob to heal for 4% of my max health every time it attacks, which is very useful for bosses in instances. I can spawn a second floating weapon that copies every attack I do for 10-20 seconds... It's all really useful and extremely fun.

This is my build: http://www.wowarmory.com/character-talents...mp;n=Katastrofi

I don't claim to be a master of talent builds or anything... I just went with whatever I thought sounded good and so far it's worked out pretty well. I took out the 63 elite rock flayer when I was only level 60, so that's got to stand for something :p

EDIT: And I'm actually 63... Forgot I leveled during Ramps last night.

Where'd you get that Blade of Misfortune?

Be sure to get the Greataxe of the Ebon Blade for your Orc Death Knight. Orcs have Axe Specialization as a racial passive.

It's a common blue BoE drop in HFP. By common I mean it's not exactly rare to get, but it's still a BoE blue, so I guess I've just had extremely good luck in getting it to drop 3 times for my two outland toons.

I may as well toss out some /2 spam here too!

After a long time of being in two progression guilds I have decided to start my own guild.

<Overachiever> is the name. My hope for this guild is to get a group of seasoned and dedicated members who wish to complete achievements. The theory behind it is that there are just too many achievements in the game that are likely impossible without the assistance of a guild. Such achievements include killing the opposing factions leaders, battleground achievements, and new and old world raids alike. So far the turnout has been mediocre and I am still looking for a group to found and officer my guild. I have had some significant inquiries however which leaves me feeling positive.

I know of at least one other poster on Neowin is on Twisting Nether but I would like to extend the offer to anyone who wishes to roll or transfer to our server to be a part of the guild.

Thanks for reading, :]

Random chest drop in Ramps. I was hoping for Hellreaver from the end chest, but this one's not bad. I might run Ramps again to get Hellreaver though.

EDIT: Actually, it appears Hellreaver isn't any better in the long run. Only 1 more strength but 1 less stam, and 20 less crit rating. Nevermind then

Blade can last you till Northrend, but there's a quest axe that's better.

DING! 78. I am really supprised at myself.. I mean I had to go from 60 to 80 on this account, and haven't played NEARLY as much as I used to..But the leveling has been pretty easy, fast, and quite painless.. AC and Horde pretty much leave each other alone, or even help kill certain Elites, in order to speed the process up..

Ah, I see. I'll try my luck once I hit 62.

I was about to say! Haha.

That reminds me, I should re-spec for Blood. I went Blood/Frost but I'd like to do some more damage.

The build I am using is this. With the gear on my DK, which was mostly farmed crap and quest rewards with my guy at low 70s, I was critting for around 2-2.5k regularly. Haven't bothered to really break it down, but it wasn't a problem for me to pull 3-5 equal-level mobs and put them down fast, while remaining at or above half health when I'm done. If blood worms proc, then I'm probably walking away fully healed.

As a combination of real world and the world of warcraft collides yet again, my exgirlfriend and I play together once again.

Details aside we are working things out after a bad break up a few months back. Overall consensus: we will be together again, soon.

Anyway, so we've been talking a lot lately and tonight I bought her WotLK. Kind of a corny, nerdy, belated Christmas gift, but you should have seen the excitement in her eyes, hahah.

Anyway, she's questing for now and I vowed to let her go it alone for unlike TBC I feel like Wrath's environment offers a much greater.. sense of awe as one is exploring. I wouldn't want to dull that down for her at all.

Now that's a gift. I don't think there's anything "nerdy" or "corny" about buying Wrath of the Lich King as a gift for someone. Personally, I'd say it's "in with the times" if that's how the saying goes. Almost everyone knows about World of Warcraft now. I'm sure many people have seen the "I'm so and so and I'm a [insert (race/class) here]" advertisements. It's 2009 (I almost typed 2008, haha) and MMOs are dominating the PC market. Let's face it, World of Warcraft alone rakes in hundreds of millions of dollars every month.

A friend of mine ran me through Hellfire Ramparts with 3 other people. It's so easy when you have an 80 Undead Mage wrecking the high level mobs. Anyway, the last boss dropped a Hellreaver and I won it after everyone rolled. I'm happy because I was hoping to get one. I've engraved it with rune of the lichbane and it's total pwnage. I was able to take out a 64 Retribution Pally on my 63 Deathknight with very little effort.

Cool. She looks a little young to me. Is she a friend of yours? Anyway, Recruit-A-Friend is quite literally FTW. I had a 63 Orc Hunter in no time. Currently, I have 2 other friends linked to my account who are levelling up pretty quickly. If both of them grant me levels, I can get another 60 character. That is of course if I can stack the levels they can grant me (30 each, I think).

What's the fastest way to level? I've been doing as many quests as possible on my 64 Deathknight and it's taking awhile. So far I've passed through Hellfire Peninsula and did nearly every quest there. Right now, I'm in Zangarmarsh questing my ass off. Either I'm losing patience with WoW or I'm one slow leveller.

I made over 1000 gold today from jewelcrafting. Buying all the ore, prospecting it and cutting it, and then reposting on the AH = fast cash. I had 144 auctions of gems up for a total of over 2000g. 30 sold so far.

    • Waymo recalls self-driving software after cars enter closed freeway work zones by Paul Hill Waymo, the self-driving car maker owned by Alphabet – the parent company of Google –, has recalled some of its fifth-generation Automated Driving Systems (ADS). It did so after some of its cars drove through closed construction zones. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the affected vehicles were capable of driving through a closed freeway construction zone and continuing to drive at speed. The listing on the NHTSA website says that Waymo is currently developing a solution to fix this issue, but in the meantime, freeway driving is being restricted. Waymo will update its ADS software so that vehicles can detect when they can avoid entering construction zones. According to the Safety Recall Report, on April 20, 2026, Waymo’s Field Safety Committee began meetings reviewing an event from April 11, 2026, and five events from April 19, 2026, where Waymo’s autonomous vehicles didn’t recognize and drove past ramp closure signs into the pre-planned freeway construction zones. This took place in Phoenix, Arizona. Separately, on May 18, 2026, seven Waymo vehicles entered freeway lanes with active construction in the San Francisco Bay Area by driving between cones that were placed to show the lane was closed. On the back of both of these events, Waymo restricted freeway driving until it could address the issue. In June, Waymo’s Safety Board reviewed the issue and additional information related to ADS performances around construction zones; then, as a result, it decided to conduct a recall. This development is not good for Waymo as it adds to a growing list of technical hiccups its cars have experienced. Ultimately, it will lead to more scrutiny from lawmakers around the world who will be more cautious about letting autonomous vehicles on their roads without tighter regulation. For readers in areas where Waymo operates, does this news make you more wary about stepping into one of these vehicles?
    • I'm still on Windows 10 22H2 because I didn't want to deal with all the issues in Windows 11, so I waited almost a week before installing the latest Patch Tuesday update (KB5094127), I went ahead and did it, and it was a huge mistake—ever since then, my File Explorer has seen a performance drop of about 30% when transferring large files... Once again, Microsoft has outdone itself! This update cannot be uninstalled, either through the Control Panel (via Settings) or by accessing Advanced Startup Options. The only possible alternative would be to use system restore points, but I’d have to reinstall all app and driver updates (and there’s no guarantee it would work). Or there’s the “nuclear option” of a in-place repair without losing files or apps, but even then, all my customizations would be lost! Microsoft just can’t help but mess everything up! Way to go, Microsoft! But I still don’t want your c****y Windows 11!
    • Microsoft: Windows 11 could finally solve a major issue across AMD, Nvidia, and Intel GPUs by Sayan Sen While Microsoft has been trying to improve it, Windows 11 is definitely not flawless, as even today some issues are taking a year to publicly acknowledge. However, one area of trouble that may finally see much better results soon is graphics driver crashes. Work on graphics driver timeouts, also called Timeout and Detection Recovery (TDR), is not new as the latest WDDM 3.2 also has specific improvements regarding it. Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) version 3.2 is supported on Windows 11 24H2 and 25H2. However, with the upcoming version 26H2, TDR crash diagnosis could go to the next level as Microsoft is introducing a new DirectX 12 API feature called "DirectX Dump Files". Similar to how system memory dump files work when a system crashes or freezes or encounters any such major issue, DirectX Dump Files (DDF) will essentially record a snapshot of the GPU execution right at the moment a graphics-related crash or hang or freeze occurs, so that developers can better understand and diagnoze these TDR and timeout detection errors. The dump will be available as a .dxdmp file for analysis and it will be a comprehensive dump file generated with detailed insights about the hardware, drivers, Windows, as well as the affected application. This should be another welcome change in this department. Earlier at GDC 2026, when the technology was first debuted, Microsoft had shared more details regarding it. The company had explained how DDF is designed to gather data from every layer of the graphics stack into a single file, eliminating the need for developers to manually correlate logs from multiple tools. As mentioned above, the dump can contain a lot of useful details like GPU hardware state information such as register values, shader program counters, page fault virtual addresses, shader memory data, and command buffers. Alongside that, it also captures DirectX runtime and kernel information, including D3D objects, pipeline state objects, device error data, adapter details, and CPU call stacks. Microsoft says the feature has been built around two primary use cases: retail device removals and local device removals. The former allows developers to collect crash information from end users' systems in the field, while the latter helps QA teams and developers investigate issues on test machines. Developers will also be able to include up to 2 MB of custom application data through new D3D12 APIs, providing additional context for troubleshooting. In addition, Microsoft is introducing three dump collection modes ranging from zero-overhead capture, which has no runtime performance impact on supported hardware, to higher-detail modes that collect more vendor-specific debugging data. On compatible Tier 2 hardware, zero-overhead dumps will be enabled by default, meaning developers may begin receiving useful crash diagnostics without making any code changes. The table below explains the three tiers: Tier Description NO_OVERHEAD Enables crash capture with no runtime cost and is suitable for broad deployment MEDIUM_OVERHEAD Provides a balance, capturing additional diagnostic data with moderate impact HIGH_OVERHEAD Collects the most detailed GPU and driver state available, enabling deeper investigation at the cost of higher runtime overhead In terms of availability, the company expects broader release to be around the fall of 2026, which should be right around the time when Windows 11 version 26H2 lands. Right now, DirectX Dump Files are available as a preview and currently, only AMD has the compatible AgilitySDK Developer Preview driver version 26.10.07.02. You can find the official announcement post here on Microsoft's website.
