[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

The only thing with using "revolution" as the final name is that it doesn't roll off you tongue very well.

"ecks-box three-sixty" works

"pee ess three" works

"re-vo-lue-sion" is just too many syllables especially if you put "nin-ten-do" infront of it I could see something like Nintendo "vee-arr"(VR) if it's indeed virtual reality... obviously they'd keep a name like this hidden to prevent accurate peripheral speculation. But who knows, we should hopefully soon find out.

Although I think its been said Revolution is a working name, not its final name. Playstation 3 is also a working name for Sony. It hasnt been confirmed that it will be the final name of the console. For now the only confirmed name of a next gen console is the early bird (gets the worms....hint hint) Microsoft with its Xbox 360.

MAN.. im mad that they picked that time. i want to be there when it gets unvieled. but i have school tomorrow.

lets hope it will be great enough when i get home

big things come in small packages. and something so great is worth waiting for.

Well, from what I've concluded and obsessed over for the last 4 days, I'd say with 95% certainty that Nintendo will have a Virtual Reality solution to counter the alternatives :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Then you will be greatly dissapointed. I believe it will be a traditional console in the sense that it will be on par with PS3 and XBOX 360, only difference being the control and how games are played using the controller.

Yes I would be dissapointed. And probably not buy it unless they had a couple good titles to back it.

I was going to buy GC on release because of Spaceworld 2000 zelda, then when spaceworld 2001 footage came I swore I would never buy Nintendo. Then when I was put in the situation in january 2004 where I had to choose a console, I bough GC because of Super Smash, monkey ball and mario party... I needed good social games, and no other console could compare.

Since then, I've added RE4 and Wind Waker to my library... I'm very picky. (Warioware is great for gameboy but it's not a sit at home console game)

But refer to my post at https://www.neowin.net/comments.php?categor...5#comment361550 there's alot of evidence pointing towards VR being the "revolution"

Besides, the amount of emphasis Nintendo has put on SURPRISE alone saying all the things it's not!!! They've basically ruled out touch, feel, smell, and hear as the revolutionary new features if you read through all the interviews. So I mean, you can be a doubting thomas all you want, but I'm confident I'm right.

My favorite piece of evidence is the Siemens wireless, 3d VR helmet that was being developed for a gaming console then just dissapeared in 2001 ( http://stereo3d.com/siemensvr.htm ) I'm sure they were hawking it to Sony and Nintendo... maybe Microsoft. All that has to happen is one of the big 3 consoles adopting it and making it affordable to the average gamer and we got VR. Is that so hard to believe???

Man, I SO wish you are right.

If this thing IS the nintendo revolution, then I would snap it up in a HEARBEAT when it would come out...

BUT, im prepared to be extremely disappointed with nintendo.

Perhaps in 2010 this will become a feasbile product.

You do realise, a VR kit is very anti-social equipment, friends would not be able to play with you. It goes against nintendo's idealogy.

And how would "VR" work? Would it detect your movements? Or would you still have to hold a controller?

And what about how Nintendo's stated that you could hook up the Nintendo Revolution to a TV or a computer monitor? If it's VR, and you're wearing a headset, why would they have said that? O_o

Multiple reasons for TV/computer screen:

Other people can watch what you see, party games or games that don't completely use the VR, or maybe if you don't feel like using the VR.

And I'm pretty certain you'll still use a controller to control games.

But the clincher I think is in the patents for gyroscopic and motion sensor technology. Put this in a helmet and you can detect every movement from tilting the head up and down to left and right to within less than a degree.

EDIT: one thing I though of that with a VR odds are they might make it so only 1 VR can work per console, BUT if you had multiple consoles in the same room, multiple people could all use their own VR headsets and network up for the same game... just a thought.

im off to bed (if i will be able to sleep.) This is the console i've been waiting for. I understand it could be the best system. or the worst. It depends how its used and what it is.

after watching the xbox 360 video. Nintendo has some tough competition. I think though that they will pull through. .

goodnight everybody. I hope i can download the video later tomorrow  (hopefully there will be a download link).

    • DriversCloud 12.1.6 by Razvan Serea With DriversCloud (formerly My-Config.com), you can explore your computer easily, safely and free. The application quickly scans your PC and identifies the hardware and software components. DriversCloud then establishes a list of the different drivers compatible with your OS and hardware. Download the drivers needed for the proper functioning of your computer. To detect your drivers, DriversCloud also displays a detailed summary of your hardware and software configuration, analyzes your BSOD, monitors in real-time your PC voltages and temperatures and lets you share your configuration online. Once the hardware components have been detected, you will be able to obtain with just a few clicks the latest drivers corresponding to the identified hardware. You can record your configuration on the site for free, and can get the corresponding URL to post the configuration to technical forums, e-mail and social networks. You can also download the detection result (the configuration) as a PDF file. To protect the user's privacy and data confidentiality, a 4-level confidentiality system was created that filters the XML marks and gives control to the user. The default level can be modified in the preferences. Using the maximum level will prevent the user from publishing his configuration and generating a corresponding PDF file. In non-connected mode, each XML configuration is stored on the server for one day (for practical reasons). However, you are given the opportunity to manually delete it. Created in 2004, and continually improved, My-Config.com has established itself on the web as a free service to PC users running Windows and Linux operating systems. The service is designed to work with the most common Internet browsers (Edge, Firefox, Chrome, Safari).
