that's still kinda ugly.. but its not bad... i dont see why its just a big square box :|

ohh ya.. now i know why.. because NINTENDO made it. all there systems following this one, has been blocky LOL

Be out of business?

If something goes horribly, horribly wrong, they can still develop. And they still have the GameBoy. Out of business is taking it a bit far, buddy.

Out of buisness in the home console market. Can anyone say Sega?

N64 wasn't REALLY blocky....it had some curves....

Plus blocks are the best choice for TV units. Everything is made out of squares these days. Just look around your room (and at your TV, VCR, DVD Player, Movies, etc). Everything is boxy...

from clubskill.com:

"UPDATE (16:18 GMT): The console will take the name of "Revolution" or "RS" (Revolution System) and will come shipped with a wireless pad. The amount of wireless pads the system can handle is unconfirmed. Apparently, in contradiction to our earlier update, the console will be around the same measure of power as the PS3. It will come equipped with online from launch day.

Announcements of exclusive RS games from SEGA and Capcom will be in the next hours."

looks interesting, zelda should b awesome on this pup

(still, they better release the new zelda on the gc and not push it on over to the revolution- it's why i bought my gc damnit! lol)

Ditto!

I've wanted, naye, lusted over a new Zelda adventure. With all that is possible on the Cube, I've been patiently waiting for Zelda and Mario. I know Sunshine has been out for a while, but it doesn't appeal to me.

Well, according to my clock, I'm on a break at school and thought I'd drop in to check on any Revolution news. Should the Nintendo confrence have started already?

Can anyone say nintendo makes more profits than both MS and Sony in gaming industry?

Can anyone say you are clueless and don't know what you are talking about?

Hate to tell ya, but Nintendo lost the last 2 rounds of the console wars.

Lost what? In business world, when you make more money than your competitors, it means you won.

Selling consoles and losing money on them is not a declaration of victory my friend. Why do you think MS is so eagerly want to get rid of the xbox.

Hate to tell ya, but Nintendo lost the last 2 rounds of the console wars.

How so, profits or units sold-wise?

- Nintendo made a profit with the GameCube

- Playstation 2's made a profit, but its profit was cancelled out by the companies other divisions

- MS lost billions

- Playstation 2 sold the most units by far in all areas of the world (approx 80 million)

- Nintendo GameCube sold in all areas of the world (approx 19 million)

- Xbox was successful in North America, but not other areas of the world. (approx 20 million)

yeah, i don't know how anyone could ever even play a game with it

The seventeen companies in the report reported fiscal 2004 revenue of $24.5 billion, down 3% from fiscal 2003.  So far fiscal 2005 revenue is up 3%.  The four leading companies, Sony, Nintendo, Electronic Arts and Microsoft, dominate the market and reported fiscal 2004 revenue of $16.7 million.  In terms of revenue, Sony is the clear market leader, having generated $45 billion in game related revenue from fiscal 1998 through 2004.  However, Nintendo has been the most profitable company, earning about $7 billion in operating income from fiscal 1998 to fiscal 2004, compared with about $4.5 billion for Sony (from its games division) and $1.8 billion for Electronic Arts.  Microsoft is clearly an up-and-coming powerhouse, although the company has reported heavy losses from its games division.

Is this the Revolution?

Nintendo reveals details Tuesday of its new system, code-named Revolution, after Sony's announcement of the PlayStation 3 console Monday and Microsoft's unveiling of Xbox 360 on an MTV special last Thursday. (Related story: PS3 purports to pack the most power)

All the action is taking place before the annual E3 Expo, which begins Wednesday. The three gaming giants will unveil the systems there.

Microsoft is expected to have the Xbox 360 in stores first, in time for the holidays. Nintendo and Sony will follow in 2006. No prices have been set, and release dates have not been locked in.

Nintendo, whose GameCube sales have lagged, hopes to gain ground, particularly among the fast-growing older-gaming market. Revolution is about the size of a stack of three DVD cases and has no visible knobs, buttons or ports for joysticks. The system will use only wireless controllers, and it sits flat or stands vertically.

With its front-loading slot for discs, it will play games on full-size DVDs as well as older GameCube games on mini-DVDs. Like Xbox and PlayStation 2, it will play DVD movies.

Nintendo, which mostly ignored the Net with GameCube, also is catching up with the online wave. Revolution will offer broadband access to a free Internet-based player matching service, similar to Xbox Live, that also will have downloadable versions of nearly every Nintendo game ? from arcade classic Donkey Kong through current titles such as Mario Sunshine. (Nintendo hasn't decided whether downloading will be free.)

Xbox spokesmen have pointed out that 360's specifications are 10 to 13 times more powerful than those of the original Xbox; Sony said Monday that the processor in Play-Station 3, which will come in several colors and be out next spring, will be 35 times more powerful than the PS2 processor.

Nintendo makes more modest claims that Revolution is two or three times more powerful than GameCube. "It's not all about having 'turbo power,' " Nintendo's Perrin Kaplan says. "It's about what you do with it."

Analyst Richard Doherty of The Envisioneering Group says one of Revolution's chief advantages is that designers will find it far easier to create games for Revolution than for competing systems. "They do not need to make major changes from the games they were designing," he says. "They have better performance without having to do a lot of extra work."

Says Kaplan: "We've built Revolution around the concept of 'all-access gaming,' " a term Nintendo uses to mean the system is easily adapted to by both gamers and designers. "We're about sticking to the soul of gaming."

Profit doesn't mean much. These comanies don't care a whole lot about making money on the consoles at this point. They just want to have the most poular one. The numbers speak for themselves. Nintendo was 3rd in sales last round, ie: they lost.

yeah, i am a "wannabe" with corporate logos in my sig an avatar

I think you need to read

The maximum allowable size for signatures is 170 pixels high by 550 pixels wide. File sizes should be no larger than 50KB. Smaller is preferred as we need to be mindful of our members on dial up access.

    • These features described above are good, but far from what developers like me was eager to get. And that main feature that developers will love it`s the ability to connect to LOCAL AI models running on Ollama. So if you have a beefy spec machine you can now use your own model 100% local inside Visual Studio 2026 18.7.0
    • Microsoft Teams is getting a controversial location tracking feature that users may hate by Usama Jawad Image generated with Microsoft Copilot Earlier this year, Microsoft planned to roll out a controversial location tracking feature in Teams, but following customer feedback, it decided to delay its release. The bad news is that the company has decided to launch it later this year, but it's based on roughly the same design that was shared earlier, which means that many users still have good reason to worry. Basically, Microsoft Places and Teams have received workplace check-ins via Wi-Fi. The idea is that if an employee arrives at the office and connects to their enterprise network, their profile status indicator will show them as being present in the office. For example, if you arrive at work, open Teams on your PC, and connect to the "Studio B" company Wi-Fi network, your Teams profile will indicate that you are present in "Studio B", as shown below: Microsoft says that this feature is basically a replacement for physical workplace check-in peripherals, it reduces the need to manually update your status, and it also enables co-workers to know that you're at work so that they can coordinate in-person meetings with you. IT admins can enable this workplace check-in capability at a tenant level, and users have the ability to control whether they want to enable it or not. Of course, all of that sounds great on paper, but naturally, many Teams customers may still have concerns, as they did before. This is because it enables your reporting manager and other members of the organization to track if you are at the office, when you arrive at the office, and where you are right now. This could be problematic for people who work in what they consider to be flexible work environments or hybrid setups, and this kind of location tracking could be considered an invasion of privacy. Microsoft has tried to alleviate some of these concerns by letting users know that they can manually set their location easily, which essentially overrides workplace check-in if they feel uncomfortable with it. However, that doesn't really solve the problem because your organization could enforce a workplace policy that mandates that this feature remains enabled. The Redmond tech giant has also assured users that this capability does not store historical data and is only a real-time indicator of location. Finally, it only generates a signal when you connect to a corporate network, which means that if you are working from home and connect your PC to your personal Wi-Fi, it won't broadcast your location to your employer; you will simply be shown as "Remote". Microsoft has encouraged IT admins to prepare for this change and begin informing users so they know what to expect once it begins rolling out later this year.
    • Wow, Microsoft IS cooking lately... This only shows that they COULD improve, they just chose not to for whatever reasons. That obsession with AI was destroying them from the inside out.
