Whether it's true or not ..

It's still something. :p

Tomorrow, 5 PM (My Time) we'll soon see if this guy is actually telling the truth.

Ya I remember when the GC was named Dolphin and everyone was saying "I hope they change the name, dolphin sucks etc. etc." This time around, everyone wants to keep the name Revolution, I think they have a good thing going, they should run with it.

I wouldn't say that everyone wants them to keep it. I personally don't like it and really hope it changes.

There was a much better documentary about Nintendo on BBC4 last year; it followed the company from it's start up all the way to today. There were loads of great interviews too, compared to the doc above anyway, which is relatively poor.

You mean this documentary: Inside Nintendo (BBC)

A quick member of the IGN user boards was my source for the news, so I'll quote his post below:

"i did not, take this photo. i found the picture, on the internet!

but this is, what iwata is saying in this "paper", in english:

iwata is saying here, "nintendo will show a near-final revolution at E3."

he says, "they are aiming for Thanksgiving release, for the US, and to the end of the year in japan. "

he says, "the price will be good enough, so that the people will be willing to pay for playing games."

iwata also says. "if they are selling revolution at $500.00 us, and nobody wants to buy it, then, it is useless."

-Yoshio "

What about Europe? WTF? It's not like its got stupidly powerful tech inside, what the hell is up with the delay? Whether companies like it or not, the next-gen HAS started, STOP trying to delay it!

Europe will probably get it around the same time as America, but if we are unlucky we'll have to wait until early 2007. But I doubt that (and hope not).

Even if the technology isn't the most powerfull, it still have to be developed. Everything in Revolution is built from scratch. It's not a delay, last I checked it's still 2006.

So what if next-gen have started. Doesn't matter. Nintendo will deliver when they are finished and the games are ready. Stop whining.

Given the lack of information, speculation has mounted that the Revolution may not actually launch until 2007. Today, though, the company's head man debunked all rumors, stating that the console will make it in time for Christmas 2006. He also revealed that America will be getting the console first, so that it will make it in time to stores for Thanksgiving.

In an interview featured in today's edition of Japanese newspaper Sankei Shinbun, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata stated, "We can't disclose the Revolution's release period yet, but we have no plans to miss out on the year-end sales battle. As for North America, we need to release it by Thanksgiving, or otherwise we won't receive support from the retail industry. So the Revolution will be released prior to that period."

Remember this is from the mouth of Nintendo's President. I think this is a first for Nintendo, a release in N.A. before Japan. Although I'm not quite sure if that part is accurate (but it does seem to be certain that at the very least it will be released here before the next holidays).

I think Thanksgiving was pretty much everyone's guess that it will be released, but the US getting it first is a bit of a suprise considering how well the DS is doing in Japan. I wonder if they are doing it on purpose because chances are the PS3 will be relased in the US around that time also and they are going to capitalize on the fact that if you can't buy an expensive PS3 due to shortages or lack of funds you can buy the cheaper (cost-wise) Revolution.

Wow, that's really exciting news! I must say, I'm looking forward to the Revolution, I hope that it's price is reasonably lower than what the Xbox 360 and PS3 will be. If so, I'll definitely be picking one up and playing Mario Tennis with the nifty motion sensing controller! I'll be swining at the TV like a mad-man! :D

I have a feeling the Revolution will be the perfect "2nd" console. People are going to end up either choosing the 360 or PS3 (unless they have enough money for both), then buying the revolution since it'll be fairly cheap.

That's going to work great for Nintendo, and the fact that the hardware will simply be an extension upon the Gamecube's (more powerful though obviously) might mean that they actually turn a profit on the hardware itself.. Unlike Sony or Microsoft who will definetly be selling at a loss (Yes I know we don't know for sure Sony will be, but unless hell freezes over they aren't going to sell it at a profit lol).

That was Nintendo's goal, and it seems to be catching on in this poll.

    • What people who support this position of LibreOffice do not understand is that EuroOffice is not made to appease the open source enthusiasts (I am also one) and evangelists. EuroOffice was made because some European companies wanted independence from Microsoft Office Suite, which is something installable on your computer. This move to independence was pushed by public institutions and governments in Europe, as well. Using a proprietary FORMAT as default, does not make you dependent on MS. The actual program does. A format can be changed with a simple update in the future in a dystopian world where MS would manipulate the format to lock others out. However, using MS Office proprietary format, guarantees that all the current documents used by companies, organizations, institutions, etc, will be compatible with EuroOffice and the suite will have the best chances at adoption, especially by slow moving organizations like governments and the public sector. It is as simple as that. For the same reason, even the UI is incredibly similar to MS Office. For the same reason (adoption) the choice was made to be open source. Not because EU particularly loves open source ideologically, but because it gives the best starting point to create trust in the project and amass developers and contributions to the project quickly, to catch up with proprietary projects like MS Office. I don't understand how people don't realize it.
    • How old is this tip? Seems 15-20 years old? Processor states for the CPU under Windows power options has been a thing for a long, long time. It certainly isn't new or hidden... Also, with laptops it doesn't make any difference what OS you are running, all of them are configured for battery longevity over performance, for obvious reasons.
    • I can't believe Starmer is still there...his party lost so big. He's a stubborn coot, but this is largely unenforceable, so I would imagine he'll be resigning soon. A key here is for parents to buy their kids phones sans Internet access--and set up the Internet at home, where mom and day can, you know, act like parents instead expecting the government to raise their kids.
    • EA launches in-game advertising platform for brands to "connect with audiences" by Pulasthi Ariyasinghe The gaming giant Electronic Arts is exploring more ways to inject real-life brands into its games. Announced today as EA Advertising, the new platform is attempting to make it easier for brands to reach out for deals with the company and put their products inside titles like EA Sports FC, Madden, NHL, Skate, or The Sims. EA revealed that its EA Sports side of the company brings in "hundreds of millions of players across console, PC, and mobile" every year. Fan engagement of these titles was also touted as being "extraordinary," with 23,000 NFL seasons worth of games being played in Madden NFL daily, while EA Sports FC sees over a billion matches a day. “Players come to EA’s games and live experiences every day to play, watch, create and connect,” said David Tinson, Chief Experiences Officer at Electronic Arts. “That gives brands a meaningful opportunity to show up in ways that add value and respect the player experience, while maintaining authenticity in the worlds our teams are building. With EA Advertising, we’re helping brands become part of those moments in ways that are relevant and built for players.” Using the new program EA Advertising, brands will be able to inject their products into games in real-time via dynamic placement. EA says partners will have access to everything from stadium signage in sports games and targeted adverts to in-game content custom-made for the brands. These are described as additions designed to "enhance, not disrupt" experiences. "In these interactive gameplay environments, brands become part of the game itself, reflecting how players engage with advertising in real-world contexts," adds the company "Brands can activate across live environments, tailoring placements to meet campaign objectives, and update campaigns with ongoing optimization informed by aggregated engagement insights." Current real-world brand partnerships EA has built into its games include Visa (EA Sports FC and College Football), Lowe's (EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and College Football), Red Bull (EA SPORTS FC), Xfinity and Peacock (EA SPORTS FC), and Mountain Dew’s (College Football).
