[Definitive] Nintendo Wii Thread

Recommended Posts

My biggest problem with further separating the consoles into sub-forums is this; people can't even manage to post in the correct ones now. Do you know how many threads are moved from Gamers to PC or Console forums every day? Imagine the chaos after giving those people 3 MORE forums to choose from (or ignore, depending on how you look at it).

Obviously every thread belongs in the general games section, especially when the poster includes the console's name or the word "PC" in the thread title. Why can't you see that?! ;)

Actually there is there one right now..

*sigh* No images of Rev games have been shown to the public yet. Please wait until 9th of May (if not 10-12 of May). Yea, E3.

Nope. Not to the public. :D

Read through the whole thread before asking questions or accusing the guy of not being real. Homey's got mad street cred. *throws up gangster sign*

Whooo?

Edit: Most of the news he posted isn't really new.

Nah, not really new, but the small parts were interesting. I'm gonna surf the old forums to see what else he said that came true.

If they've been trusting him thusfar he's doing something right. :)

That true. According to what some of the other forum members have said, almost everything he's said has happened.

In either case, any news is good news. :D

Seriously! I'm gonna be sad to see this thread go later this year. Which seems like a long time. Wow! This topic's going to really by the time it's released.

But then we can all play each other on the Nintendo WFC!

And the thread will be remembered in our hearts .. as we look back and see how wrong (or right) we were with our guesses.

Any screenshots coming before there are any production models ready (probably about a month or 2 before the first actual public release) can be considered rendered and not neccesarily an accurate representation. All the PS3 renders mean dick, i don't understand why anyone cares?

Sweet Sword :D I hope there a gun like that too. :p

Killer 7 Producer Starts Revolution Project

Suda 51 holds talk session with Hideo Kojima and Kazutoshi Iida.

by Anoop Gantayat

January 22, 2006 - Grasshopper Manufacturer's Gouichi Suda (aka Suda 51) has once again made reference to his support for Nintendo's Revolution console. At the "Hopper's Vol.1 25H Our Party People" event held in Tokyo's Shibuya Ward on a snowy Saturday evening, Suda confirmed that work on a Revolution project has already started at his studio. He would not reveal details beyond this.

Suda has been pretty vocal about his support for the Revolution. Back in October of last year, he became one of the first Japanese producers to confirm a project for the system, promising an extreme game that makes full use of the system's controller.

The Shibuya event was also attended by Konami's Hideo Kojima, producer of the Metal Gear series, and Kazutoshi Iida, creator of Doshin the Giant. The three developers held a talk event in which Suda revealed that Kojima's Snatcher and games developed by Sega's Yu Suzuki were what got him into gaming. Kojima recalled that people didn't understand why he was spending so much effort creating Snatcher's world, with one superior even confronting him as he headed out to the library to do research. He also mentioned that Snatcher was originally set to be called "Junker," but Konami was unable to use that name because it had already been taken by a mahjong title.

The three closed off the talk session by joking about working together on an adventure game. With Kojima himself having previously expressed strong interest in the Revolution, perhaps Nintendo fans can expect a dream collaboration for the new system.

Not sure of the credibility on this one but interesting if it's true :)

The Konami Computer Entertainment Japan and the Nintendo had yesterday announced the development of "Silent Hill 5" for the new console of the Japanese company, the Revolution. Although all to believe that the new edition of this trailer of horror would arrive with exclusiveness for PS3, seem that the team of the Konami was seduced by the innovative control of the Revolution. According to Akira Yamaoka, producer of the series: "we are excited with the great possibilities of the new control. We believe that the series Silent Hill will give a great jump and the Revolution is the solution to materialize our innovative plans ". Silent Hill 5 will be launched with exclusiveness for Nintendo Revolution. The first images will be published, according to Yamaoka, during the Eletronic Entertainment Expo (E3) that it will happen in the month of May of 2006.

Apparently this was generated from a mexican website where today was the mexican equivalent to April Fools (interesting trivia I suppose)

3D Realms CEO on Revolution

Believes it will be a distant third to 360 and PS3; Nintendo's last console.

by Matt Casamassina

January 24, 2006 - Outspoken 3D Realms CEO Scott Miller has recently updated his official blog to wax about the upcoming next generation console wars. In his writings, the industry veteran makes his predictions about the eventual popularity of the three major consoles, including Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Revolution.

"My prediction for this new round of consoles is that the Xbox 360 and PS3 will wind up about equal in terms of sales, with Nintendo's Revolution coming in a distant third," Miller writes. "Perhaps this will be the last console from [Nintendo]."

Miller, whose studio has been underway with a Duke Nukem sequel since the Big Bang, admits that he has not yet played with the revolutionary aspect of Nintendo's new console. "I cannot comment on the Revolution's controller until I try one," he states

There his problem.

    • Everyone else has said it. I'm gonna say it - you don't know what you're talking about. I do. I have two laptops. One work, one personal. I have access to two more laptops - both personal. At home I manually update my personal laptop when I see on Neowin that there is an update - I carry on and only apply the updates when I am ready. My work one only updates when my workplace decides to send it - I carry on and only apply the updates (when they actually arrive, which is usually days after the release) when I switch off the laptop at the end of the day as usual. The two other personal laptops only get updated when I get to it which is rarely - the people who own them carry on using them until I get to it and update them. All of the browsers on all laptops are configured to restore the tabs when launched. Google and Microsoft have changed from 6 weeks to 4, and it looks like it's going to move to 2. None of these changes affect how any of these browsers on the laptops are used. Not one jot. My advice to you is stop panicking whenever you see an update. Just carry on with what you're doing. This even benefits you in a way - from your comment you sound like you don't like the changes or the frivolous new features - great - then carry on as before!
    • AMAZON needs to take total accountability for this.
    • Server Summit had a heap of announcements, ADCS changes are baller.
    • Nice, hope they *finally* fixed the issue with the NTFS driver where the system would completely brick during large file copies using the built in driver. It's been broken for years requiring me to use the older, slower, NTFS-3G FUSE driver.
    • Windows 11 KB5094126 BSODing, freezing, forcing BitLocker lockout, breaks OneDrive, and more by Sayan Sen Microsoft released Windows 11 KB5094126 and KB5093998 last week as the latest Patch Tuesday updates. Following that the company also published the accompanying dynamic updates under KB5094149, KB5095971, and KB5094156. While Microsoft has so far not acknowledged any major problems with the release, some users online are running into problems. These range from OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, BitLocker recovery lockouts, to blue screens and BSODs. The most common one seems to be happening with HP systems wherein affected users say they hit 0xc0430001 BSOD (blue screen of death) error code after the KB5094126 update. We wonder if this could be related to the recent bug we covered on HP devices wherein the ongoing Secure Boot certificate updates are leading to similar issues. While we are not certain, users affected by this issue likely need to ensure that the boot.stl file is included on the installation media (such as a USB installer or ISO), if the above-mentioned dynamic updates are deployed. If this file is missing, computers may fail to boot from the installation media and could display the error 0xc0430001. This STL file is used by Secure Boot to verify that the boot files are trusted, so it must match the same Windows version and system architecture. To ensure the file is included, Microsoft recommends using the Update WinPE script, which automatically updates the image and handles the required files. Alternatively, you can manually copy the boot.stl file from the Windows\Boot\EFI folder on a Windows device and place it in the matching folder on your installation media before deploying the updated image. Aside from blue screening some users also note their systems have been freezing following the update. This could be happening to Lenovo PCs specifically. In the case of the OneDrive and Dropbox access issues, a user figured out that there could be a conflict with UAC. He explained: "Okay, so I did some digging, and in our environment KB5094126 breaks OneDrive and Dropbox in Explorer. I went through all our GPOs and found out that the combination of disabling UAC and having my user being a local admin breaks OneDrive in Explorer. ... If I enable UAC again, then it works, even with KB5094126 still installed." Hopefully, Microsoft will look into these issues.
