Lovely theme! but I was surprised to see that it had the same small flaw LE4 has. When you go to Search, the left section where search companion is is blue, even in the Black style. (Check attached screen shot of the area I'm talking about in Blue style. I can't post a screenshot of the actual problem in Black style coz I fixed it by mingling with ExplorerBar Gradient colors in ResEdit)

This is the area that needs to be fixed for Black style:

[ExplorerBar]
BgType = BorderFill
BorderSize = 0
ContentMargins = 12, 12, 12, 12
FillType = VertGradient
GradientColor1 = 140 170 230
GradientColor2 = 100 135 220
GradientRatio1 = 0
GradientRatio2 = 255

I fixed it as:

[ExplorerBar]
BgType = BorderFill
BorderSize = 0
ContentMargins = 12, 12, 12, 12
FillType = VertGradient
GradientColor1 = 38 40 51
GradientColor2 = 44 48 63
GradientRatio1 = 0
GradientRatio2 = 255

Where can I get ResEdit and which file needs to be edited? Please help me out...

Hello everybody,

It is a nice Visual Style... But what I would like is a Chrome-variant? Chrome with black or dark blue or titan?

I think that would look fantastic... :) And the Taskbar could look mor "glassy"

And a round start button also would be perfect.

I also have a name for that: Chrome Luna Element or Luna Element Chrome Style ...

Can't anybody make a mod in this direction? Or am I the only one who would oke this :)?

How can I replace the Start-Button to one of the round one's on lunaelement.net?

Best greetings,

ML.

Well here's resedit

http://www.tgtsoft.com/prod_rb.php

you have to open up the "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\LE5\LE5.msstyles" file to edit the theme

By the way I don't know much about skinning at all.

Could someone knowledgeable please tell me how to change the color of highlighting items in the startmenu the light blue color.....

download ResEdit open up the file "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\LE5\LE5.msstyles" in resedit, go do bitmaps, look for 'startbutton' in the right pane hit replace and select new file. Then {make sure your using a theme other than LE5} hit the save button, then from display properties select the LE5 theme again.

That so doesn't look like LE5

If em3 doesn't mind, here's a slightly modded LE5 that fits my tastes...

It has:

- LE4 selection color

- LE4 Modded Alt Shellstyle (Blue only)

- Fading tray

- Recolored start group background

It's been very clear since the beginning these mods are not allowed! Remove it!

It seems like people are really bent out of shape over this start button. I think it looks great, and more importantly, it's different from almost every other VS out there. My only gripe is the blue hightlight color. I don't have a problem with the way it highlights icons, I have a problem with that color blue in general. I really dislike it and a lot of the Vista VS's have it and it just annoys me. It's just a small complaint though. Overall, well done.

I think it looks good with some color in the black theme. If it didn't have the blue it would basicly only be black and white. You could compare it to watching tv in only back and white like they did 20 years ago or so.

ehi mad! would be nice to trim the DISCONNETTI and SPEGNI words...so the hover is more little, isn't it?

what do you think about?

Oh well, I think that trimming is a good idea! But I'd personally do that just for "Turn Off Computer".

However, my primary aim would be deleting the "Disconnect" and "Turn Off Computer" hover background completely... but I don't know how to do that :(

i'd like to know that too..in this way LE5 would be nearer to the perfection :whistle:

I changed to LE5 for now, but only until I can find a decent-enough Vista theme clone. Personally, I would have expected a bit more from LE5. I concur with others who have said this isn't such a big step from the previous release.

However, I do give credit for the finish - so many great Vista theme clones are completely ruined by poor fihish. The edges are slick and clean. Window control buttons are a bit of a disappointment for me, but they don't matter that much. The black theme looks a bit bluish in my eyes (but I'm half colour-blind anyways so my opinion doesn't count). What I really, REALLY would hope is that the next version sees more Vista-like taskbar buttons (yes yes, I know, this is a Luna remake, but still!) and a white (or some lighter colour) window decorations.

All in all, in terms of finish and care, LE5 is a great job. In terms of originality, well, maybe a bit more radical ideas wouldn't hurt.

    • As much as I love owning my own hardware, it's hard to argue with the value. I'm not a huge gamer, I'd actually be interested in a cheaper plan with limited monthly hours, or even a pay-by-the-hour plan.
    • Well, they (LibreOffice/The Document Foundation) are bitchy and whiny, yes, but they're right, at least this time. It doesn't make sense to market something as "free and open source to thwart dependency on foreign companies' software" but at the same time, using the format of said companies (Microsoft) by default. That way, you are changing nothing, essentially, you're just using another UI. I'm not saying they should drop other formats altogether, but they shouldn't default to the thing they're trying to run away from in the first place. If you're gonna do something, just go all the way in, don't stop in the middle, IMO.

    • I'm surprised they haven't found a way to fix that. As much as I don't like software wasting memory, a file manager is the kind of thing that makes sense to keep running in active memory for super-fast recall. I suspect that is why MS makes their File Explorer part of the main explorer.exe shell, so that it is guaranteed to always be running.
