Well, I've installed it myself, and I find it's a vast improvement over WMP 10. But I do agree that it does need some cleaning up, for example the vast repition of menus, though there is this one thing that is bothering me, I can no longer drag-and-drop albums to combine them. I miss that from WMP10. :(

u can still combine them. explore the changes slowly.

Please don't complain over illegaly downloaded software. When the Beta is out you can report comments/bugs.

Agreed, as I've said, I prefer to wait until Microsoft releases the official version ;) . I value my computer too much to risk installing untested software :shifty: .

see I never gotten the whole album cover thing? really do most people even care?? I certiantly don't and I think it's very annoying!!!

why are they so centric on it when not many people care. No one I know does. And it's just another way to bog down the interface when we really need a faster player that plays movies and music more reliably and can orangize 600 hours of music easy and fast, and not worry about loading some 300+ album images along with a whole drive view.

and new visuals!!! the current set is old now and they need to compete with wimamp on that one!

I like Album Art, if you don't like it then don't use it, it's as simple as that. Your argument states that you don't like WMP 11 so best thing you can do is stay away from it. You'll live longer that way  . As for me and many people on this thread, WMP 11 is more than just a pretty face and album art display, it's a whole restructuring of the search and management system of the library, where the information is displayed differently than iTunes, which is text based. If you don't like it, stick with Winamp or go and send an email to Microsoft about your complaints instead of complaining on this thread.

has anyone figured out how to add your own album art yet? im either dumb or not seeing it. i mean some of my albums have it done automatically but them some dont.

Yeah, where it says paste album art...do it. Find a cover off the internet, (save it onto your HD if you want), and drag it onto the album.

Just installed WMP11 Beta on my machine...I was happy with WMP10 and was very sceptical about WMP11 from all the screenshots I've seen...but after playing around with it, damn it rocks :) I find the UI very clean and relatively easy to use and I really like the new way it organises your music  MS have done a good job with it (Y)

EDIT: I noticed you can view your pictures in it too, has WMP always been able todo that or is it new to WMP11?

yeah im just dumb....lol actually you can drag and drop directly off of the web page. so Amazon is priiime for this.

WMP 11 looks soooo much better than 10 does, damn.

And now that it's available, it is worth every minute of wait. It is one awsome animal.. Oh it's out there alright but obviously I am not allowed to post any reference to links so just go surfing for soft and enjoy it if you find it.. By the way, I'm referring to the XP version....

    • I hope this encodes in to AV1 or AV2 as currently tiktok uses h265 and h264.
    • Qualcomm reportedly in talks to build custom video chips for TikTok parent ByteDance by Karthik Mudaliar Qualcomm is reportedly in advanced discussions to provide custom chip-design services to Chinese tech giant ByteDance, the same company behind TikTok. According to a report from Reuters, Qualcomm could be involved in designing custom silicon tailored for ByteDance's massive data-center workloads. If it goes through, the deal would make ByteDance one of Qualcomm's early anchor customers for its fastly growing custom chip-design division, For years, Qualcomm was the king of making smartphone processors and modems. The company has also been moving into the PC ecosystem and other formats such as on-device AI for Android XR headsets. However, this particular deal is about Qualcomm's custom Application-Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs). For a platform like TikTok, ByteDance needs hardware that can help it ingest, process, and serve billions of short-form videos daily. Generalised hardware is no longer the most cost-effective and efficient route, which is why ByteDance is trying to develop custom Video Processing Units (VPUs). VPUs designed specifically for ByteDance’s algorithmic needs could drastically reduce data-center power consumption and improve encoding speeds at an unprecedented scale. The underlying tech behind these processors is actually from Qualcomm's recent acquisition of AlphaWave Semi, a high-speed connectivity specialist company. By combining AlphaWave’s high-bandwidth IP with Qualcomm’s architectural expertise, the company could begin mass production by the end of 2026, if the talks go through. All this also comes at a time when U.S.-China tech relations have dwindled. Escalating trade frictions between Washington and Beijing have severely impacted the export of high-end AI chips from U.S. firms like Nvidia, AMD, and Lam Research. Yet, the Qualcomm-ByteDance discussions show that U.S. tech companies are still actively seeking growth avenues and are open to doing business with China, where regulators still permit. Reuters notes that the outcome of this deal could be uncertain, and ByteDance might also seek partners other than Qualcomm. via Reuters | Image via DepositPhotos.com
    • Look who's back!
    • I wonder how driving laws around the world will change. No way to really tell if people are using phone. Same with smart watches i guess even now and those silly built in tablets for controlling the car instead of buttons.
