Bioshock General Discussion ( Xbox 360 )

Recommended Posts

Been playing BioShock for a few days now and it indeed rocks :) however, I seem to have hit a wall, the game now lags like crazy and is barely playable! (I tried the clear HDD cache thing and it doesn't work) anyone experience this problem? know how to fix it? (don't suggest the clear cache thing, it doesn't work!!) if I can't fix it I might have to return it and try to get my money back. I was really impressed with this game, but not now, very unhappy. Hopfully they fix this problem in the much rumoured PS3 version...

EDIT: I've contacted 2K about it, hopefully they will provide a solution for this problem. I have to say this is very annoying! :(

Haven't had any problems whatsoever on my 360. It's definitely your console, not the game. You should ring Microsoft and have them help you troubleshoot the issue. Has this ever happened to you with any other game?

Nope, only BioShock :/ all my other games run fine (within reason). It's weird though, the game ran flawlessly till recently, now it lags like crazy no matter what do!

EDIT: Looks like it's the level that is the probem, loaded another save game and it runs fine :/ which means I might have to replay that level again which is slightly annoying. The level that it started acting up on was Fort Frolic.

Nevermind, it must been a hickup or something. I (tried) to keep playing and after awhile it sorted itself out and went smooth again :/ (I tried multiple times to clear the cache and it did nothing) must be a weird glitch or something, I'll still see what 2K say about it. Well back to BioShock :D

its the game, its if you play it for too long a time without turning the game or the 360 off, they mentioned it in the OXM review

it has also happened to mewhen i played for a few hours spree, i should have a new disc by tonight so i'll check if the problem still persists

for you does the game stutter lag, where it lags for a second then goes normal? because that is what is happening with mine

I have had this happen about 15 times now. It literally freezes for almost a second then continues on fine as can be.

I have not had the really bad lag were it all slows down.

Actually you don't even have to be playing the game for a long time stuttering to occur. It happened to me when I loaded one of my saved games, I hadn't even turned on my Xbox360 for a day. It has to be some bad programming on Irrational's part because my other games that run off the Unreal 3 engine do not have the same problems. It doesn't make the game unplayable, it is just an annoyance.

I'm not quite sure where the freezing is coming from, because I didn't experience it once during my whole time playing the game, but my friend was playing yesterday on my console with his hard drive and it was freezing up randomly.

I have had this happen to me as well but only in the last half of the game it seems. I thought it was my dvd drive slowly starting to fail. :(

It's not the console if you experienced the lagging in Fort Frolic. Probably happened after meeting Cohen's third student or around that area? And when you killed him the game righted itself?

It's a rare bug. Happened to me, too. It sucks, but it's there.

why can't they issue a patch?

anyway, good game, just started playing it. however, the splicers are way too tough (on hard setting) and they just gang up on you like that. since you can't die it's not a real problem, but then again having to go back to the same battle area five times until they're all gone is a bit irksome.

Oh there are way too many options to keep dying like that. Try getting a big daddy on your side, or use the crap out of Enrage, it helps a ton.

Well they don't call it hard for nothing. Though, I played on medium and I did feel enemies respawned far too often, and it got tiring and tedious going back up stairs to find any other machine gun touting lunatic who's going to cost you a ton of ammo and health.

I hate how quickly enemies respawn. I barely make it through 7 or 8 splicers only to talk to someone and they're all back. Oh, and ofcourse I have to backtrack through all those enemies. Regardless, the game is a lot of fun... though I wish there was more ammo scattered around Rapture... :/

I wouldn't call them respawning enemies, it's just when you clear an area and go back later there will be splicers running around. I don't see a problem with this. Remember, you're dealing with a whole city of crazies, I woudn't expect to kill every one of them.

if you have to constantly clear enemies you've already dispatched, i feel that's an unfair gameplay mechanic. sure it's consistent with the story being set in a city, but we love games because they're pleasant, not for the hard, repetitive work. but i'm just talking, haven't played it enough yet.

    • I have a older F4-210 NAS, it is pretty basic, the CPU is not the fastest by a long way and only 1GB of ram, but it works fine. I don't understand the need for A.I in a NAS. It seems like A.i is being shoved into everything, if we like it or not. i will stick to my old Terramsater NAS, thankfully the OS is not being updated. Also, got myself a small NAs built using a Raspberry Pi 5. iy usesd less energy, so stays on all the time. As for the unit above, if it is as reliable as my old Terramaster Nas, then it will be a good unit.
    • Gemini in Google Sheets can now help you debug and fix formula errors by David Uzondu Google has started rolling out an update to Gemini in Google Sheets that allows the AI to diagnose and fix formula errors in one click, as long as your Workspace admin has Gemini for Workspace in Sheets turned on. According to Google, the new feature can handle pretty much everything from basic arithmetic to very complex calculations. This ability to debug formula errors comes about two years after Google introduced basic formula generation with Gemini in Sheets. To create a formula with Gemini in Sheets, you open a spreadsheet on your computer and click Ask Gemini in the top right corner. You can also enter an equals sign in any cell and use a shortcut like Ctrl + Alt + G on Windows and Chrome OS, or Command + Ctrl + G on macOS. Once you open the side panel, you write a natural language prompt using your sheet references. For example, you can ask Gemini to divide goals by games, or to find cell C1 in range D:G. If for some reason, the formula Gemini generated doesn't work, or maybe you wrote the formula yourself, you can troubleshoot the issue directly inside the grid. When a cell shows an error message, you hover over it and click "Fix". This action opens the side panel where Gemini analyzes the data structure and automatically applies the fixes when they are ready. You can cancel the process at any time by clicking stop in the side panel. Image via Google Google has been pushing its Gemini integration in Google Sheets for a while now, steadily moving AI features from side panels directly into user spreadsheets. Last year, the Mountain View giant shipped an =AI() Function in Sheets that allowed users to run translation and text generation directly inside cells instead of using the side panel interface. Earlier this year, the company announced that Gemini in Sheets had reached near-human expert performance, achieving a 70.48% success rate on the SpreadsheetBench dataset.
    • I get what you are saying, If i go onto the Instagram site, it says log in with Facebook, but they are not allowed to link my account with Instagram until I do that. Maybe in the U.S, they can link them, but Privacy is not a thing in the U.S. the way things are going,l won;t be any better in the U.K.

    • Exactly, this is just the beginning. I hope that by that time, our inept politicians devise something like a Universal Basic Income, because unemployment and poverty rates will skyrocket otherwise. And believe me, robots that perform physical work aren't a matter of IF, but WHEN. No career is truly safe from AI/robots, it's just a matter of time.
