I don't even know what sector Apple is aiming this toward? I think it would be great for students but it's too expensive. Great for road businessmen maybe? Don't know. Apple is forking too many roads for itself, I think.

Well I know I said it was overpriced, but I just made my decision. I'm getting an Air. Sorry, I know it isn't the smartest move I've ever made, but I just watched the ad and I love it. It is expensive, but anyone who ever gets in bed with Apple already knows that going in.

As soon as the Apple Store is back online, one will be bought and shipped to my house :)

I am not an apple fanatic, and I dislike a lot of products apple make, however the Macbook Air isn't as overly priced as everyone is making out...

Its direct competitor is from Sony,

an example unit:

Now that has a bigger HDD, and ships with a DVD writer, however its processor is slower than the base model Macbook Air, which also has all the other toys the sony laptop has yet costs almost $2,000 less...

I won't be buying one, but in its field it is certainly an attractive option to those in the ultra portable market.

Great question. Steve stated that it comes with software to share a drive with a PC or Mac and there's also an option for an external drive ($99), so you have to do it one of those ways.
