I'm really getting into the Specialist role now, played for a few hours tonight and managed to get a few more awards :p

If anyone wants to get together as mentioned to join a Neowin squad, then post your gamertag in here and I'll add you, I'm sure Dirty Larry would too, its so much better in a squad.

Just in case my sig isnt showing, my tag is oO BeLGaRaTh Oo feel free to add me :)

Yeah the game is fantastic, even though it frustrates the hell out of me lol.

My newest gripe are the idiots who walk out into my line of fire and thus, team kill..

Very annoying.

I seen one guy tonight, jumping infront of someone deliberately while he was firing a rocket (N) And this was a ranked match as well, I'd expect that kind of stupidity in Player matches.

Sigh...I still love it though lol

Currently rank 12 :) Only 13 more to go!

R012.png

Yeah sorry all, I did not get a chance to play at all today, me and my wife just vegged out, stayed in for the holiday, and just watched movies and the Twilight Zone marathon.

I definitely plan on playing tomorrow afternoon (Saturday July 5th), like I mean definitely. I already gave my wife the heads up. So I will probably be on anywhere between 12 noon -2 PM, and will play at least a few hours.

@ Munky - Yeah, unfortunately Team Killing just seems to be par for the course. Even in BF2 I dealt with it. At times it is just unavoidable because there are just plain stupid people out there. LOL

My newest gripe are the idiots who walk out into my line of fire and thus, team kill..

You have no idea.. .

I'm sitting in the way back corner of some really high mountain, trying not to be seen as I play the sniper class, and I've almost always got a constant bead on someone's head, when some moron runs in front of my shot and I get tagged with a TK. :(

Though, some of those uber long distance shots are so super rewarding when the guys running around trying to catch a ride or trying to defuse the bomb in the base.

Those were some good matches guys :) Good to see Neoadorable again!

And Larry, you should invite your work friends again if we get some matches going tomorrow! They were pretty cool (Y)

I ranked up 3 more times tonight to Second Lieutenant, and I only need 16 more dog tags for the "Get The Dog" achievement :D

Pretty pleased with that, and we had some awesome matches!

Gonna rest my eyes and hands for the rest of the night though

Sure, what's your gamertag? Just so I can make sure you are on my Friend List.

Just pointing something out to everyone, there is only 4 members per squad, so if we don't invite you straight away don't fret. It just means the squad is full, but I'm pretty sure you can still join the game (Y)

First off just wanted to say it was really a great time playing with you all of you guys yesterday I got to play with. I got a 4-5 Hour playing marathon in there, and I honestly cannot remember the last time I was able to play that long. So that was kick ass, and also the reason I have not played at all today.

And just wanted to reiterate what you said above. Playing with other people on this game really means only joining a 4 man squad. It is beat, but how they work it. However with that said, I had my two friends who were not in the squad originally, and they both chose Join Game through the dashboard through my Gamertag so we were at least able to play on the same team.

Alright, so I've had a few hour long sessions of MP and I've finally got myself somewhat used to the pace and actual purpose of the game. So, obviously that means I now have some questions, LOL.

First of all, I've been playing all unranked matches. What does playing in ranked matches do for you? Is that how you start earning your level ups and unlocks?

Second, I've noticed a number next to the names. What does that signify?

And third...why is that most people just run around the map like a headless chicken instead of either trying to demo the crates or keep them secure?!?! I guess that's BF though, I had the same gripe with BF2, haha. I'd love to play more support but it's a hindrance when nobody is doing assault.

Just picked the game up, only played the single player so far. I have to say I really am enjoying it. Feels a lot different then COD4 but that in my eyes is only a good thing.

I think I will give multiplayer a blast during the week. Would love to play with some Neowin people! Give me an invite if you see me in game.

played full game kinda disappointed in the length but the small story is pretty cool to see in bf series but its obvious it's still very much multi player orientated but the small hitches with damage and server rules are still a bit of a let down in that area.

First of all, I've been playing all unranked matches. What does playing in ranked matches do for you? Is that how you start earning your level ups and unlocks?

Exactly what you said, lets you get points towards your rank so you can level up, unlocks, etc.

Second, I've noticed a number next to the names. What does that signify?

It is their "Veteran Status," meaning it i s how many previous games they have owned in the BF series. For me at least, it is broken, as I have owned every game in the series ever, but if you register your game with EA, they add that to this number. I believe the max that number can be is 6? so I think they are counting BF 1942, BF Vietnam, BF2, BF2142, BF: Modern Combat (the last console game) and BF Heroes (for when it is released).

And third...why is that most people just run around the map like a headless chicken instead of either trying to demo the crates or keep them secure?!?! I guess that's BF though, I had the same gripe with BF2, haha. I'd love to play more support but it's a hindrance when nobody is doing assault.

It all depends on lot on who you squad up with naturally, and what server you get on. It is a joke right now though, but I believe just like in BF2, within the next couple of weeks after the people who are not serious about playing a team based game realize most everyone else is, they will not find it enjoyable anymore being one of the lone jackass'. So I think within the next few weeks we are going to see a seperation of the idiots and then it will be just the people who play the game to actually play the game left. Still with all of that said, having a good squad is essential to the experience, and FTR I have had good squads who were all total strangers, it is just the luck of the draw I suppose.

I agree with you there Larry, when I first got BF:BC I was weary of playing MP as there were a lot of idiots in there, however now that I play in a squad with yourself and DrunknMunky everything works a lot better, and I have noticed there are now far less people just running and gunning. Maybe when they bring out the conquest addon then it will also alleviate a lot of the problems, as those people who play like that can, letting everyone else try to capture the zones etc.

As mentioned in earlier post, I am really liking the MP aspect of this game now, which is a first for me on console.

Thanks for the reply, Larry :)

EA and their online account stuff has always been FUBAR. I can't get my soldier's stats to come up at all, it tells me my GamerTag is linked to the persona but when I click on my soldier, it then asks me to link a GamerTag! I don't know why EA can't get this to work right. It was a nightmare last year trying to get my NCAA'08 and Madden stuff online, too.

I've just been through exactly the same thing with EA, took a week of emailing backwards and forwards. Long story short they manually added it 3 times incorrectly as BELGARATH, OOBeLGaRaTHOO and finally 00 BeLGaRaTh 00. I had to call them in the end they eventually did it correctly.

It's worth persevering as you get three weapon unlocks when the live account is linked properly, the first is for playing the demo and getting to level 4, the second for just checking your stats on the badcompany website (see one of my earlier posts to cheat this one if it is not linked correctly [edit]This post[/edit]) and finally there is the veteran status for linking all of your BF games to your account which unlocks another weapon.

I'll be online around 7ish, had to give yesterday a miss as too stiff with not taking meds the day before :)

I'll add soLoredd and disturb3d to friends list too in case they're on and want to join.

Yeah I took a break from gaming altogether yesterday, will only be playing for an hour or so tonight too. Although BF has that "one more round" pull on me, so who knows :p

Guess you have signatures disabled .. :p

    • We now know when and how the Universe may truly end by Sayan Sen Image by Marek Pavlík via Pexels| Not representative A study by physicist Henry Tye of Cornell University suggests that the universe may not expand forever. Instead, it could eventually stop expanding, begin contracting and end in a "Big Crunch" roughly 20 billion years from now. The research, published in the Journal of Cosmology and Astroparticle Physics, was conducted by Tye, Horace White Professor of Physics Emeritus at Cornell University. Using recent observations from major dark-energy surveys, Tye and his collaborators developed a cosmological model that predicts the universe could have a total lifespan of about 33 billion years. Since the universe is currently estimated to be 13.8 billion years old, the model places it near the midpoint of its existence. According to Cornell University's summary of the research, the study centers on the cosmological constant, a term introduced by Albert Einstein in his theory of general relativity. In modern cosmology, the cosmological constant is commonly used to describe the simplest form of dark energy, the unknown phenomenon believed to be driving the accelerating expansion of the universe. "For the last 20 years, people believed that the cosmological constant is positive, and the universe will expand forever," Tye said in a Cornell University news release. "The new data seem to indicate that the cosmological constant is negative, and that the universe will end in a big crunch." The study draws on data from the Dark Energy Survey (DES) and the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), two major projects designed to investigate the nature of dark energy. According to Tye, recent observations suggest that dark energy may not behave exactly like a simple cosmological constant. To account for those observations, Tye and his collaborators proposed a model involving an extremely light hypothetical particle that evolves over time. In their calculations, this produces a negative cosmological constant and leads to a future collapse of the universe. The model predicts that cosmic expansion would continue for approximately another 11 billion years before reaching a maximum size, after which the universe would begin contracting and eventually collapse. Scientists have long debated how the universe might end. As explained in an article published in The Conversation by Stephen DiKerby of Michigan State University, several possibilities have been proposed. If dark energy remains constant and positive, the universe could continue expanding indefinitely, gradually becoming colder, darker and more diffuse in a scenario often called the "heat death" of the universe. Other theoretical possibilities include a Big Rip, in which cosmic expansion accelerates so dramatically that galaxies, stars and even atoms are torn apart, or a Big Crunch, in which expansion reverses and the universe collapses back into an extremely dense state. DiKerby notes that the Big Crunch idea itself is not new. What distinguishes Tye's work is that it attempts to use current observational data to estimate when such a collapse might occur and how it could unfold. Much of the universe's long-term evolution remains uncertain. According to current astrophysical understanding, stars will continue to form and die for billions of years. The Sun, for example, is about halfway through its expected lifespan. Galaxies are also expected to continue merging; the Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies are projected to collide several billion years from now. At the same time, the nature of dark energy remains one of the biggest unanswered questions in cosmology. While observations indicate that the universe's expansion is accelerating, scientists still do not know what is causing that acceleration. Future observations may therefore alter current predictions about the cosmos's ultimate fate. Tye emphasized that additional evidence will be needed before firm conclusions can be drawn. DESI continues to collect data, while upcoming observations from missions and observatories including Euclid, SPHEREx and the Vera C. Rubin Observatory are expected to provide more precise measurements of dark energy. "People have said before that if the cosmological constant is negative, then the universe will collapse eventually. That's not new," Tye said. "However, here the model tells you when the universe collapses and how it collapses." For now, the study presents one possible future for the cosmos rather than a settled prediction. Whether the universe ultimately ends in a Big Crunch, expands forever, or follows another path entirely remains an open question that future observations will help answer. • I’m still using an Xbox One S, so time for an upgrade to play this but as much as I hate Sony, I think I’ll get the ps5 pro
    • I bought this game. Played it for an hour, and then got a refund from Steam. Not a fun game at all.
